But we'll have Pirlo in Rooney. He's not going to become Southall magically.

Oh I don't underrate Bayern's finances at all. The numbers speak for themselves. The reason I said our finances kick up next season is that the Adidas deal by itself raises our revenues by 70m euros or so, by itself. I guess you're right about Adidas's preference, that's logical. But we're yet to see such logic actually be translated into actual transfers.Bayern's growth isn't bad either though. We're debt free now after having paid off the stadium and have spent less on transfers in previous seasons, which should give us more room to work with when it comes to transfers. Obviously it's irresponsible and won't happen at all. I just find it a bit weird, that Bayern's financial power is a bit underrated here. I don't believe we're the richest club around like anchan suggests, that's nonsense in my opinion, but we're definitely competitive financially. United's biggest advantage is the global exposure of the Premier League, which gives the players a better chance to sign higher individual sponsoring contracts. For example, I wouldn't be surprised if Adidas prefered if Messi joined United over Bayern despite them being shareholders at Bayern and a longterm local partner. The company simply would benefit a lot more from Messi in a United Adidas shirt because of the global exposure of the club/league. That has nothing to do with the financial power of the club within the FFP rules though, which was what Pexbo brought up.
Bayern actually made a few 'creative' deals with the help of Adidas in the past. Signing players who then became the posterboy for an Adidas campaign at the same time. I'm pretty sure that Guardiola's huge contract with Adidas, which he signed at the same time he signed for Bayern, isn't a coincidence. Obviously it won't happen that Adidas pay a share of the transfer itself. But supporting a transfer by increasing the individual sponsorship contracts isn't unheard of and usually makes sense for all parties involved. But we're yet to see such logic actually be translated into actual transfers.
If he were to come to the Prem I couldn't see him choosing Manchester over London personally. If there's any chance we can finance this move I'm all in. The best player in the world for a few years, would be delighted to have him here. He would solve a few issues for us!
If there's any chance that he's moving is another matter obviously.
There's a number of reasons I don't think this is going to happen, but if there's any possibility of bringing him (even for 250 million) I’m all in. Assuming we don't collapse financially because of that move, obviously. If he were to come to the Prem I couldn't see him choosing Manchester over London personally.
Leave them they're having fun it seems. Why are people ignoring the fact that he isn't being linked with us at all?
I'd love to have him in the Premiership though.Messi at Chelsea is a horrible, horrible thought.

He's followed a bunch of Chelsea players which is a worrying sign - in this day and age that seems to be the biggest sign of where a player's head is turned toward.
FFP can be got around. Messi at Chelsea is a horrible, horrible thought.

No team can afford him especially at that price, Chelsea would have to sell Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Courtois and Diego Costa to finance his move, Manchester United have debts which needs to be paid off, irrespective of the new sponsorship deal. Real Madrid would have to sell Rodriguez, Benzema and Isco. If Barcelona sold Messi where is the replacement, Cristiano Ronaldo won't join them and the Real Madrid fans will go nuts. Besides this point is all mute because Barcelona have a transfer embargo, Messi ain't going nowhere.
If (and thats a big if) he does move, it doesn't matter that hes not being linked to us, as look at Falcao, he was linked to almost everyone but us, then we bid and made it happen pretty swiftly. If he is available I am sure we will be interested. But i cant see anything happening untill the summer if it does.
Although would Messi want to join a club that often sings about Ronaldo? Messi himself would have to do better than what Ronaldo did here too. Otherwise Ronaldo will go down as the better player. Whereas at Chelsea he wouldn't have that pressure.
But he wont be going anywhere soon. Messi is bigger than the club and Barcelona will get rid of the manager before they get rid of Messi.
Drifter has begun throwing around buckets of pisswater in transfer threads to singlehandedly account for the 'taking-muppetslayery-too-serious' quota of all of redcafe universe. So Balague says he as never been so close to leaving ,but also says in the same breath that it does not mean he will leave. The Jan transfer window is well under way.
We should definitely use that and play on his ambitions. If (and thats a big if) he does move, it doesn't matter that hes not being linked to us, as look at Falcao, he was linked to almost everyone but us, then we bid and made it happen pretty swiftly. So what actually happens if a club fails to meet the FFP? Would the reward of signing Messi outweigh the cost of the punishment?
We should definitely use that and play on his ambitions.
Do you want to be a better player than Ronaldo, Lionel? Prove yourself in the EPL, beat Cristiano records. Impossible is nothing (or another Adidas slogan).
I think you have taken my post a little bit too seriously mate.Well, he doesn't necessarily have to play for United to prove himself in the league and beat Ronaldo's records now, does he?
Adidas connection means feck all, too. Chelsea are also under contract with Adidas.
