After this season Messi will most likely have won his third continental treble.

This does not make him the best player of our generation, but the eye test makes him. It’s pretty hard to take people serious who disagrees with this. Its just silly.

Luckily I have had the chance to see them both playing live.

I don’t understand how anybody can think Ronaldo is better.

He simply isn’t.

Messi is supernatural without the apparent need to try.

Whilst I agree with this sentiment it's crazy. My funny bone is tingling and making me want to say 'well it's hard to be in the CL final when you're getting locked out before reaching it as was the case with Messi's ba dum tsh*

Im starting to notice this myself.
I mean these sort of arguments have been made before but since Ronaldo has overtaken Messi the arguments have been getting worse and even more desperate.
Messi fans are just not objective.

Myself i have no problem with people saying Messi is better than Ronaldo but when people act like theres such a huge gulf in class and Ronaldos a glorified Inzaghi thats when it gets silly.

If Messi was that much better he wouldnt have less goals in Champions league knockout stages,finals,World cups and be level on ballon dors with Ronaldo.

TBH, i could even put CR7 on there too, maybe on par with Cruyff, simply because of how the machine that is CR7, without having half the ball skills Cruyff had, won more than he did and did it for so long.

But above those two, there is simply no question on who's the best. Argentinians say its Maradona because he gave them a world cup, Brazilians and old people will say its Pele for obvious reasons, and most other people will say its Messi.

But thats it. There is only room for 3 up there, and those 3 are FAR above anyone else including Cruyff and CR7. There is no way you can leave out any of those 3 down to bring CR7 up. The podium of the greatest of all time just doesnt work if you say its CR7, Maradona and Pele. Just doesnt seem right for most people, thats just plain wrong, and even your stomach would tell you that it is bullshit.

A podium of Messi, Pele and Maradona however, feels good on the belly. Just use your common sense my friend and realize who's the best. Just, give it up already. CR7 is great, top 5 of all time, there i said it. Just leave it at that man, there is no shame on that.

I never said I would replace Messi on the podium.

The most OVERRATED player on that podium (this does not mean he is bad but rather because his name was shoved done people’s throats for generations) is pele. I get why he is there he was the first really KNOWN name in football there are many videos also explaining how he is a bit overrated.

My Mount Rushmore consists of CR7, Messi, and Maradona.

You can’t have Messi without Ronaldo considering neither is a clear winner of their individual era. It’s a joke to say otherwise they have been neck and neck there whole careers so you can’t put 1 in a different tier then the other.

Too 3 Ronaldo, Messi, Maradona now in which order is up to each individual person but Ronaldo and Messi have done things never seen in football ever and broken nearly ever dam record in the books.

As for Brazil and Pele he probably is the best Brazilian of all time though me personally I put R9 in front of Péle.

Same. It's a genuinely weird opinion to have.

Ronnie is a stunning footballer but you need to really love him to even entertain the idea that he's as good as Messi.

Neck and neck because people decided to base it on who's team wins the CL each season. Messis last few seasons have been better and more consistent than Ronaldos but Ronnie's got all the plaudits due to Reals CL success. Purely as a best player award I'd say it should be about 7-3 in Ballon D'ors.

The desire for a simplistic narrative has overridden judgement. None of this is a slight on Ronaldo. Incredible player

In fairness ronaldos record in the cl knock out games is far better than messis. He was a major reason for that success.

Personally i think messi is currently the better of the two, but to dismiss ronaldo as less consistent in thr last few years doesn't sit right. He was able to do it when it really mattered. Champions league knock out is as hard as club football gets really. His record speaks for itself.

Messi has 26 goals against the PL top 6 in 33 games. He has a higher goal per game ratio than anyone that has ever played in the PL and he has only played against teams that have finished in the top 4.
Ronaldo has 28 in 70. And that was before Spurs and City were decent.

Also, Ronaldo is being outscored by a 36 year old Quagliarella, Piatek and Zapata in Serie A this season which I hardly call domination.

Because people view football in different ways, you don’t have to understand why someone thinks something, or belittle them for it. I don’t have a problem with people preferring Messi, that’s their right. But some people prefer Ronaldo, I simply don’t understand why people can’t just accept that. Many people have differing opinions on the GOAT, is it Best, Pele, Maradona, Eusebio? Why does the Ronaldo/ Messi debate rattle so many people.

For me from what I have seen and heard, probably more for romantic reasons is that Best could be argued for the GOAT... does that mean he is, of course not, it’s simply my opinion.

Ronnie is amazing.

But I cant accept basing everything on a few games.

His club form pre xmas has been poor over the last few seasons. It cost Real domestically. For some reason this doesnt seem to be taken into consideration any more. It should be since the league is the bulk of a players football
 
Going the Ruud Gullit route (sexy football), Messi is a sexier player and is at least as effective if not more imo so Messi really.
 
I gave my vote to ron. Not because I think hes the best, but because I think he tries harder to be the best than messi. I believe messi is just pure talent. Ronny, I think works hard to be as good as he is. Talent, yes, but not as much natural talent as messi. And to be that good because you worked hard to get it should always be counted higher than being gifted. IMO.

Not saying messi doesnt work hard. I just dont think he has to work as hard as ronny.
