Messi in Miami

I mean with those 3 and Tata, they might be the best team in the league.

If they manage to nab 2-3 more players near their level next season and fill out the rest of the roster with adequacy, they might be the MLS side of all-time.
No way. Three players never can’t change a football club. This run has been pretty amazing even though I did say the worst label would not longer hold true.

My only current joy in football is watching this wee man.

27% of their starting XI consists of the best player of all-time, one of the best holding midfielders of all-time and a generational left back. Even though they're past their prime now they sure as hell have changed their team.

Given the state of the MLS (especially the defending, it seems), it's not even a bold shout to say that they're the best team in that league already.

27 is a very low percentage (even smaller taking squad into account) and as you say they’re well past their primes so they’re not the equivalent of those all time, generational etc players anyway.

I think we´ll have to wait a bit more and see whether the team that is literally rock bottom in the league is now the best. I dont think they will be without further signings, but they have the individual brilliance to be the ultimate cup team. However all thats required is for Messi to burnout/gasout or hit a rough spell for the team to plummet. Even Messi needs to actually see the ball to influence the match.

HIs assist for the second goal was out of this wolrd. Beautiful.

It really comes across as if it’s all just scripted! Too good to be true.

"Alright, so in the 96th minute, we'll need Leo to produce the kind of pass others can only dream about. Is everybody om the same page here on how this is going to unfold?"

It most certainly can at lesser levels of play and especially in leagues where superior talent is limited to nearly nonexistent and parity reigns.

nah, that was against the best team in MLS and Miami was still outplayed. Just have to give credit where credit is due which may be hard going by your user name

I don't know why a American gamer becomes the social media vocal point for witnessing Messi.

Hes built his whole ego around being a professed Ronaldo fanboy and can't admit Messis brilliance that's all he's built for with his typical teenage level antics, literally gets views quite off that with huge levels of cringeworthy reactions.

Not sure how he has a platform. Even skysports welcomed him.

They make a huge difference but the coach is the best coach by far in the league, Nashville played better than Miami and the goalkeeper was the man of the match. Now I thought a team could bring only 1 top player per team and Miami with 3 is not fair :D

Busquets looked good the first couple of games, but is getting worse for each match they play now. Against Cincinnati, Acosta was toying with him at times. Alba ain't a top player anymore, not even in MLS.
Miami's GK on the other hand, he has been tremendous. Also like that Ecuadorian DM Dixon Arroyo. Once Farias gets going he will be a great player for Messi to combine with.

Feel bad for the NY fans, Messi on the bench. Fans chanting “we want Messi”. Must be demoralising for the home team to hear their own fans chanting for Messi

The football, unsurprisingly, has been fecking atrocious. But the Messi miracle continues because people (including me) are still watching, hoping he’ll come on.

Best part is that Miami, without Messi or Biscuits, are still winning 1-0. The young players they brought in from South America have helped, as has Tata obviously. But NYRB being so fecking inept in front of goal is also a decisive factor.

Messi gonna catapult Miami to one of the most followed or supported club in US

Boy they love their underdog story, a last in the table team, a savior GOAT, crawling the table one at a time, injury time winner

C'mon now. La Liga and Champions League were too easy for him too.

The only place we can feasibly say he struggled was International competition, but not really there either. Two world cup finals and one victory.

Football has been too easy for Messi his entire life and we are lucky as fans to witness it in our lifetime.
He won the copa too

Scores AGAIN. But it wasn’t about the goal, it was about the pass. That’s one of the best passes I’ve ever seen. fecking ridiculous.

are tickets still insanely high? and any idea when miami is coming near NY next time?
