MERGED - The 2010/2011 ASHES tour thread...all Ashes related chat here please!

Edged and dropped by Collingwood, Watson survives. Bit of swing there for Anderson.

England already throwing high fives around willy nilly. Accident are bound to start happening. As far as i'm concerned though, the high five should be banned from Test Cricket altogether. Just a bit of sepo bullshit the West Indies introduced in the 80's. They should take note of Australia with a hug or a kiss or a lick, a grope on the arse and sometimes even a bit of a dry root.

Hughes off to a good start, that was a great shot.

3rd time lucky for England - Watson gone

Ponting gone as well to Tremlett, 37-3.

That looks close, England review it

Too high, England lose the review and have no more reviews left.

U should get more reviews. The game is as slow as a pensioner walking up Ben Nevis, and the reviews are quit exciting.

What a difference four years make, I recall watching England get comprehensively battered in the Melbourne test in 2006.

I won't be happy until England have Hussey out cheaply.

I'll go along with that, it is nice to play Australia knowing that even though we can snatch failure from the claws of victory, they are far from the immortal deity they recently were.

People who are watching on SkySports what did you think of the Finn discussion.

As I type that Hussey finally out early.

Australia 58-4 at lunch and in big trouble, feels like weve said that from day 1 of this series although this time they wont have Hussey to bail them out, the Aussie top order is laughably crap and they still havnt realised Phil Hughes is no more a test match opener than i am, getting Hussey there before lunch was a huge moment for England Australias main man gone will do wonders for the confidence.

Oh and another failure for Ponting, his batting is pretty rubbish these days.

Superb morning/evening's bowling from the lot of em, particularly Jimmy Anderson. Felt like something was going to happen every ball. When Tremlett's good he's unplayable as well, someone that tall and quick banging it in. Lovely stuff.

what's Ponting's average in this series? can't be much..

As for Tremlett you cant praise him enough the bloke looks world class, came in to replace Broad having not played test cricket for a long time and takes 8 wickets in the match and is Englands stand out bowler, here again today on a less pacey wicket hes still had the batsmen hopping around and taken 2 excellent wickets, on this form you have to say he should be in the team full stop not just on the back of Broads injury, he looks a better bowler than Finn and hes far more economical.

England in a terrific position, only Haddin left as an in-form player for the Aussies. Australia will need to recover as they did in Perth, but I cant see them making more than 180, if that. Tremlett's bowled well.

He's very inconsistent - when he's good he's superb but he has form of lacking mental strength. Obviously, he has all the physical tools to be a top class fast bowler but he's 29 now and has never established his place so there must be an issue there somewhere.

Beautiful delivery from Anderson, Smith gone and Aussies now 65-5

Another down, 77-6. Aussies in big trouble, Anderson again

And another, 77-7. Aussies playing it like a ODI not a Test, pathetic shots.

8 down, Johnson gone. Anderson with another.

Was the game decided at the toss?

Well there has been a fair bit of swing, but Haddin, Clarke, Smith & Hughes' wickets were all poor shots. As well as England have bowled, Australia's batters have not helped their own cause.

All out for 98.

Awful from Australia, England bowled beautifully but a lot of poor shots. Still there is a bit of swing there so you never know, but that was dreadful. England in command.

The Australia batting lineup is overrated. They are suspect against good swing bowling as Anderson has shown time and again.

Hughes has no technique. Twatson is efficient but limited. Ponting and Clarke are woefully out of touch. Smith is never a test match no. 6. This is the longest tail I've seen Australia have in a while. Usually you are used to the Aussie tail wagging but not so. The only ones that can hold their head high are Hussey and Haddin.
