Nice delivery from Swann, through bat & pad onto the stumps

One wicket left. Looks like the rain will be too late to save Australia which will be fair given how much better England have been. A draw due to rain would be a travesty.

well... You should be. On its day, the aussie batting line up minus north is the strongest in the world. The fact that they only got 280 in the first innings shouldn't dismiss the fact that its still world class. Bowling on the other hand...

:)

Even warne has already conceded defeat.

Beautiful cricket.

What do you expect?! They have nobody capable of hitting a 50 let alone the hundred - hundred and fifty still needed to force this through to a draw.

This is England's Test, it's just a simple formality as long as it doesn't rain, which it's not due to for an hour or two.

That's it, England win by an innings and 71 runs & lead the series 1-0.

First time since 1993 Aussies have lost a home game by an innings.

Quality from Swann! Great finish, great test match from England. The Aussies were no match.

Innings and 71 runs! Suck me beautiful!

I know Australia aren't all that, but that is one of the best England performances I have seen. We won every session!

Comfortable win for England.

Have to say this is easily the weakest Aussie side I have ever seen. The fact that Broad and Anderson are comfortably better than anything they have as bowlers is testament to that. Nothing close to Mcgrath, Warne or Lee in this side.

GET IN! utterly thrashed them from start to finish of that, top stuff from England one of the most one sided test matches ive seen in a long time.

Only down side in the injury to Broad, hope England dont go defensive and bring in Bresnan keep up the pressure this Australia team is weak and we have them on the ropes, Tremlett please the pitch at Perth is tailor made for his style of bowling, don't worry about the tale end batting Aussies cant even get 6 wickets!

Great performance by England with bat and ball. It all began with that incredible start on day 1 when the Aussies collapsed to 2-3 and England haven't looked back since. Finn, Anderson and Swann were brilliant with the ball, and all the batters (minus Strauss) played beautifully.

What this all means is that Australia cannot lose any of the next 3 matches. If England win any of the remaining matches in the series, they retain the Ashes. Australia must win at least 2 games and draw the other, but on their performances so far, that seems very unlikely.

Only issue for England will be who replaces Broad. I think it should be Tremlett, but I have a feeling they might go with Bresnan.

Meanwhile Ricky Ponting has more problems than Julian Assange does: Katich is injured, North has done feck all, the bowlers all failed and he did not perform with bat and looked clueless in the field. Maybe Mitchell Johnson is their saviour

You know whats even funnier?? The fact that you're talking like the series is already wrapped up, yet you still haven't won this game yet :wenger:

Can I begin laughing now.:lol::lol:

When was the last time England beat Australia by an innings?
