MEN say United considering selling Rojo and replacing him with Martins Indi

Indi is a stupid player. He's a footballer at high level because of his immense physique first and foremost. Decent defender but a stupid one. Costa would have him sent off in the first half.

U wot m8 ?

Its weird, he was vastly overrated here last season - some even calling him our best CB and everything. Then randomly he turned shite over the summer when no football was played.

I'm guessing its the whole pre-season fiasco and the anti argie sentiment post di maria.
This is what I'm wondering as well. Since the summer he's suddenly gone from good/decent to rubbish.

What is it with us and Argentinians?

With the exception of Veron, they have all acted like utter cnuts at one point or another. I can see us unloading Rojo, but not for a feckwit like Martins Indi.

I don't think Rojo is as poor as this thread makes out, the problem I have with him is he doesn't ever seem to be fit.
I don't know much about Indi to comment other than seeing him in a few World cup games.

I don't have a problem with him as a squad player at all. I think he could end up better than Jones

MEN talk shite. What about all the players that we were buying in the summer that never turned up?

When did the Cafe universally decided Rojo was shit?

He was pretty highly rated the back end of last season, then the passport thing happened and now everything thinks he's shite?
He was always shite. If he was right footed he wouldn't be near the club.

Activate Lapotre's release clause and be done with it.

Yeah don't feck around with buying players who are going to understudy Blind, get in a genuinely good defender who can make the left centre back position his own. Would cost another 20 million but would be very much worth the extra.

What are basing the 'fact' that he 'isn't great in training' on out of interest?

Laporte has much less experience than Martins Indi, but obviously I'd prefer him.

There was some serious overrating of Rojo on here last season.

I don't rate Indi at all really. Rojo is a pretty good player but if he has a poor attitude then get rid really. He always seemed committed though. If we do sell him then I'd hope we go for someone like Laporte or someone highly rated, not Martins Indi who is nothing more then mid table level.

It's probably shit, but I don't rate both of them. They are not good enough as far as defenders go. Laporte, Umtiti & Abdenour are players LVG should be looking at if he's so fixated about a left footed center back.

Rojo has acted like a cnut? Did I miss something?

Rojo was overrated last season because people were desperate to believe he was better than our existing centre backs. Mainly because the caf was frustrated that Jones / Smalling / Evans all having been highly rated youngsters hadn't yet nailed down a first team spot and were all very injury prone. The change in opinion has come because people realise Rojo isn't that good - Smalling is a level above, he shares the same problems that Jones does (and I'd easily rather have Jones) and Blind has played both LB and CB better. That and he's actually more injury prone that he never actually plays, nor do we miss him when he doesn't.

Not sure it's that people think Rojo is that great, more that Bruno Indi isn't that great either. If we were to get rid of Rojo it should be someone to partner Smalling, not another backup. The LCB is being manned by backups. One after another.

"that's a nice lump of shit you have, would you consider swapping it for this lump of shit?"

I like Rojo. The talent is there imo, he's just a rough diamond. Certainly don't get the point of swapping one project for another, even shitter project.

Blimey you don't have to do much to be labelled as 'acting like a cnut' these days

That was a pretty bad thing for a professional player to do tbh.

He'd had his break, and all he had to do was make it to his pre booked flight with his passport, not asking too much really, and given how much emphasis LvG gives to fine details it was a really stupid thing to do, and well worth a bollocking + a bit more for doing it, if he's still not getting on with LvG (which I don't know he isn't) then we should get rid.

It's obviously stupid but hardly 'acting like an utter cnut'. A player stropping and skipping training is acting like a cnut. Lampard, Terry and Morris mocking 9/11 was acting like cnuts. Jamie Vardy racially abusing someone in a casino is acting like a cnut. Rojo missing a flight is just a brainless mistake that (as you said) deserves a bollocking.

Starting off with such strong terminology doesn't lend itself well to a measured debate. I'm not having a go at anyone in particular btw, so apologies if I'm coming across like that.

This. The feck is going on?

I think he's been good, and there's still lots of room for improvement.

If we are getting rid of Rojo which I doubt, especially in January, but if that's the case id rather sign Ashley Williams then re-assess the CB situation in the summer.

Smalling, Jones, Williams, Blind & McNair would be fine till summer when we can hunt for a truely world class partner for Smalling, as I think Blind will end up back in midfield eventually.

Are you sure that wasn't their round up of all the other gossip? I thought the MEN were seen as one of the better sources around.

I Started half way through the posts so missed where the c**t bit originated from, and yes I'd agree it isn't a accurate description, but that's not really the point, Rojo cost £16 million + Nani's wages for a year and has offered virtually nothing, the least he can do is actually turn up when he's supposed to.

Wouldn't be sad to see him go myself, he just doesn't seem like a United player to me.

You think so? From what I saw, even at his highest points many were still trying to be a bit cautious with him, or just weren't sold on his gung-ho style.

You are probably right. That was the impression I had though, but it may have just been the real over the top posts that stood out in my mind compared to the rational ones.

I think Blind was the one we overrated. We hadn't had any decent cover for Carrick for years so we were all swooned by a central midfielder who can intercept play and actually pick a pass out if he has a bit of time.

Getting rid of Rojo would just create more problems. United is lacking depth in defensive areas as it is, getting rid of Rojo and replacing him with a player who probably needs time to adjust to the premier league and Martins Indi is cup tied in the UCL. So if this article is true (which it isnt), then LVG is just shooting himself in the foot. Secondly, he's not long joined Porto... getting him would be a large fee and tbh i'd rather see United pursue at much better rated defender than Martins Indi.

Rojo isn't a bad player at all when he's on the pitch. He's not really done much wrong and has been decent when he has played. I wouldn't particularly want him to be our first choice CB, but he's a solid rotation option, and Smalling and Rojo seemed to be a decent pairing in the 2nd half of last season.

The issue with Rojo is that he seems so incredibly unreliable. He never seems available for selection. It's concerning how little he has featured in the squad since he arrived.
