How many people do you see score 30 goals (and another 7 assists or so) while playing on the wing? Only Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar have scored that many in a season while playing as a winger (off the top of my head), in recent history at least. That's with him just having turned 21. Ignoring his productivity, he has a great shot, had the best record from set pieces in Europe last season, is fast, physically strong, is creative, scored 2 goals in his first ever world cup when he was 20, has the drive to become the best that some lack perhaps, etc.. Really not sure what else you would want?

So many notable people from the netherlands have come out and said how big of a talent he is, how he is already a very good player but his potential is enormous. He has the stats to back that up, and has the perfect manager to get the best out of him.
I get the feeling that people are judging him based on his dribbling style, which isn't as aesthetic as a Messi or Hazard.

People have been comparing him to Nani, Ronaldo, Hazard.
A guy in the comments of one of these videos compared his style to Hulk. Probably the best comparison so far actually.

Don't worry guys, it was just his farewell tribute to Stevie G.

I think he changed his mind mid jump  didn't fancy belly flopping the water

Does anyone know where he's on holiday? Looks nice

It's not 'yeah' but it's 'ja', Dutch for 'yes'. When you're struggling for words some people tend to use 'ja' as stopgap(?) word when thinking, especially if you're translating this can happen. Not sure if there's an official term for it.
Filler words

Don't think Koeman was being bitter at all.It was just his observation from watching him since 16.

Koeman was OK, that scout though, what moronic and unnecessary comments about his personality five years ago and going below the zero rating ...
Who talks like this? Especially when the event happened five years ago and Memphis has clearly improved in this regard as well over the years!

I would have to agree somewhat, I don't think he is anything like those players ie Nani, Ronaldo, Hazard, it doesnt look like he has that sort of dribbling ability to the level of the players mentioned. He looks a very strong physical player so he is similar to Ronaldo in that respect and I get the Hulk comparison as well, I just hope he isn't that one dimensional.

Koeman should shut his mouth and mind his own business, concentrate maybe on keeping some of his players this summer. He is clearly bitter about not getting him last summer, as for the for that other gimp who cares(stupid scout telling war stories).
Memphis is going to be brilliant next year and it's exciting times:drool:

The article calls the scout "one of the master scouts in Dutch football" but he only worked as a scout for N.E.C. for 4 years and was sacked in January. Sounds like a person just giving a controversial opinion to get in the news to remind people he still exists to be honest

Ah I see, thanks for the info.

Koeman has tried to sign Memphis so he obviously also sees the talent in him. During his time at Feyenoord he's praised Memphis but also took a few slight pops/casted his doubts when he was in bad form/had personal issues. Don't think the 2 have problems with each other and it's a bit of a non story really. I think he's right in that Memphis won't be a guaranteed starter troughout the whole season and for Dutch standards we did pay alot for him.

That scout though.. Because Memphis is a new-school street kid who likes his phone and street language he has a terrible personality (even though he has better dedication to his profession than most other footballers)? He doesn't score higher than 5,6/10 in anything? Now I know why NEC got relegated

To be fair, the scouts opinion matches my fears about Depay, but I doubt van Gaal would tolerate it, so he either packs it in or gets smacked and then packs it in.

People forget to mention the positive side to all of it.

Even when being flamed to shit by everyone saying you won't make it, saying your attitude is bad and that your in bad form blabla...

Score 25 next season and get yourself a transfer to man united.

Same thing was said about Ronaldo. Who cares.
