Liverpool would have had a pretty impressive front-line had they secured Depay to be honest:

---------------------------------STURRIDGE-----------------------------------

DEPAY---------------------------COUTINHO---------------------------STERLING

Then Henderson in behind as well with a solid midfield partner could be quite impressive.

Don't seem to be showing it though lulz.

As it goes ours now consists of:

FALCAO
VAN PERSIE
ROONEY
DI MARIA
MATA
DEPAY
JANUZAJ
NANI
YOUNG

D@t attacking line up on paper tho... yikes

You could class him a success, of sorts - Brought in for a small fee, a decent back up, managed to deal with Robben in the home leg of the CL and was then sold on for profit.

I think my only post in this thread was to say Buttner.

Really need to get more involved with the positivity around this place I think

Really like this from the Guardian's article:

His desire to become the world’s best is a bigger fuel than criticism. Depay can wear an angry expression after a PSV victory in which he has scored because he also missed a big chance. The Dutch Ronaldo some call him, though Depay is always genuinely happy when a less prolificteam-mate scores, even if he was in a better position.

He genuinely seems like the type that is fully driven to be the World's best. Similar to Hazard in that regard. I think that was separates this type of player to others - the actual want of being the best. We saw it in Ronaldo. Hopefully he'll follow in the same footsteps  Reckon we have a gem on our hands now.

To be fair, Jordi Cruyff aside, as far as I can recall every Dutch player we've had here has been a success: Stam, RVN, RVP, VDS and so on. Hopefully Depay follows suit.

Yeah but we all know Cruyff was more Catalan than Dutch. :D

Watching Memphis' (I'm calling him that since he hates being called Depay reportedly) World Cup highlights, he fancies taking shots from distance eh? Nice. Hope it does not get coached out of him. Weird thing to say considering Van Gaal was his coach at the World Cup though.

Van Gaal explains why he's signing Depay
Louis van Gaal has admitted he pushed through Manchester United's move for Memphis Depay because PSG were closing in on the PSV Eindhoven star.

The French side were also keen on the exciting prospect but the United boss was determined to be reunited with a player who impressed at the World Cup for the Netherlands under his tutelage.

"He's a goalscoring winger and there aren't so many of them in the world," van Gaal revealed to MUTV. "[Lionel] Messi is one of those but now I think we have to talk about the game against Crystal Palace and we have to focus on this and the coming three games. That's more important.

"I was forced to handle [the situation] as a manager because, otherwise, he was going to PSG, that's why I had to sign him and we've done it within one day. But, for us, it's better to focus on the game against Palace."

Although keen to finalise his transfer business quickly, van Gaal reiterated that United's hand was forced on this occasion with three games still to go with the deal set up to be concluded at a later date.

"I want to do this [make signings] early but it's not always possible," he added. "When there's a chance, to you have handle that and manage it directly and that was the case. I want to purchase players after our season and not during the season because it disturbs our concentration for the match."

Nice, it's good to see the club acting fast on it, especially as they really needed to in this case it seems. I'm hoping it's a sign that we've already identified all our targets and it'll be a quick summer.

Compare that to our Argies. Two world class players who turned to shit and two traitors who left or wanted to leave to play for our bitter rivals. And the fact I forgot about Rojo only strengthens the opinion that the jury is still out on him.

Beating PSG to him feels like revenge for the whole Lucas Moura thing.

Interesting that LVG wanted to hold off on his signing so as not to risk upsetting and distracting the current team.

That and the M7 hashtag is kind of odd...

I think he shirt number at PSV was 7. But it is a little a bit strange.

He's been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo before, and this isn't just for footballing matters in my opinion. Besides putting alot of effort into his body for football purposes, he just cares alot about his appearance and image, and the M7 thing is obviously for marketing purposes, he had 7 at PSV too.
