Marcel Brands had an agreement with PSG and thought Memphis would go there, when we found about this we've swooped in and completed the deal within 48 hours. He's getting a medical tomorrow I believe.

Great to hear that we have signed the lad, even better that we have beat liverpool and psg for him. Only been able to watch him a few times but he looks like a player with a lot of potential and should be able to offer something to the team. It will be a big challenge for to come into the team and perform at this level but I'm sure he will prove to be a top signing in the long run.

Yeah, but them saying the signing fee is in the region of £25-30m tells me they actually don't even know the specifics.
 
Deal came out of nowhere. Been weeks of PSG and Liverpool being favourites. English journalists are extremely poor

I can't wait to see him next season :drool: I just hope people don't expect too much and get on his back after he has a few inconsistent/bad games. He's only 21 so he's bound to have both good and bad spells but I'm confident he can become a world class player in time.

I don't think there was any swooping involved we just probably did everything we agreed to do over the last year.

According to Talksport and Marcel Van Der Kraan Depay was really flattered with the interest shown in him by Liverpool. Apparently Zenden and Kuyt were really talking up Liverpool saying its a really good atmosphere and he can really develop there and he was really contemplating the move. Moving to the Premier League was his priority apparently.

Agreed. They're more delusional than usual if they think they can compete for signings without CL football on offer.
