Memphis Depay (stays)

The state of some posters here.. Embarrassing.

Depay actually smashed it in Lyon, been great for the Netherlands and produced good numbers for the catalonian cnuts.

Get over your past hatreds. He is much better player now and he’ll be a great addition to the squad.

I'd quite like to have him here if the deal is right

Better than Martial and miles better than Elanga and Rashford. For the money, why not?

Was. We're going to pay 10Mil for him and that money will hopefully be paid to FDJ so he can then move on the last day.
That's the only logical solution. I'll go with that

Ok I'm a bit behind on this so apologies if already been covered, but wasn't he going to Juve on a free?
There was a disagreement on wages, if I recall correctly.

As things stand, we can’t move forward without…more forwards. He’s one of the least worst options on proffer because he can contribute without handicapping us like someone requiring a huge investment. I think it would be a sensible signing.

I'd certainly trust him more than Elanga and probably current Rashford too, for 10m, if we can really get him that cheap, its very little to lose all things considered.

Makes sense on paper, but for some reason it's also got bad idea written all over it

I did too but after watching the game today and especially that chance that Ronaldo totally messed up in the end. Memphis would be a good addition to this squad.

Was initially against this, but I agree he's better than what we have atm. 10m is no brainer

That's really all there is to it. He's not worldclass or anything, but we're crying out for forwards, and he's a good one available for peanuts

I'd rather get depay and FDJ then the 100m rated winger with a handful of goals/assists in the farmer's league

Both the players you'd rather get are from the same league hahah

Yes La Liga, but Anthony is in the Eradivisie, do you not understand what he was saying?
Course I do. i said they are from that league, are they not? Like me asking you where are you from? You'd tell me where you'd grew up, rather than where you are actually living.

I think I'm missing a lot of sarcasm on the account of being 3 Henry Westons deep. I'll keep quiet. Best way.

Get him or Dembele (Lyon) or someone. For the love of God please get a striker/no.9

FDJ not being here has nothing to do with the money we're potentially spending on Anthony. We literally went as far as agreeing a fee with Barca and FDJ told us to feck off...

from what I can gather, FDJ doesn't want to leave without his 17m. If we buy Depay for 10m and they divert that money to FDJ then he can leave. Assuming that he ends up with United then I wouldn't really mind that.

TBH this isn't supposed to be a one transfer window rebuild.
Get Memphis in to compete with our other attackers.
Over time we will continue adding and replacing attacking talent to the squad
It's that simple really.
Memphis, Martial, Rashford and Sancho ( with Bruno, Eriksen, Elanga and Garnacho coming in occasionally) should be enough for our attack for the season, particularly as all 4 of them can play in multiple positions. If it proves not to be enough, we can also sign someone in January.
If we can get Antony, that would be amazing.

Depay and Asensio for combined 40m would be great business I think. Our aim is top four and hopefully Europa, they would really help in that regard.

I'm not sure if Barca actually want to sell Frenkie anymore, certainly don't need to like we did before. Memphis deal would be totally unrelated as it looked certain he was off to Juve on a free.

As for people hating on him, he has matured a lot since his stint at United. From rumors about his attitude and some of his 'rapping' career I didn't think he took football too seriously or that I'd like him but he grew on me and I'd be happy for him to stay with Barca for another season if Auba leaves. Not a world class player or world beater in any sense but a solid player and he did well during the start of last season before the injury. He would be good for this United team and I'm sure will work well under ten Hag.

Woodward really broke people's mind. Does every signing has to be a luxury one?
fecking hell we don't have bottomless purse. Remind me how many sub 15m signings did Klopp sign?

Not sold on Asensio entirely but I think Depay would be a shrewd bit of business. All depends on his contract though. Around 125-150k p/w should be reasonable but anything more than that for a rotation option will be bad.

Depay was fairly rubbish for Barca last year and if we have an option between the two, I'd much rather we signed Auba. However, Depay would also be better than what we've got so it won't be a terrible signing.

True plus we would have already eaten into next summer's budget if we sign Antony whilst we will still have more than three profiles missing i.e a proactive, ball playing keeper, a central midfield playmaker, a top striker and a right back of an acceptable standard. These will set us back more than £200m and there is no way we are getting them next summer without some shrewd business, luck with a couple of juniors or training ground improvements. Memphis could be that bit of shrewd business to give us cover over a couple of seasons.

I don't necessarily agree with all those needs.

1.The central midfield playmaker can come in the form of Eriksen. In addition, not every team has this type of player. We could get a box to box midfielder and that would work well too. In future I would like to sign one, but I wouldn't call it priority. We would also have the opportunity to test Zidane Iqbal, see whether he can come into that position in future to replace Eriksen.

2. Ball Playing Keeper - That would depend on our sale of both De Gea and Henderson. I think this can happen and I also think that due to the new profile of keeper, it would be accessible for way less than what some other keepers have cost. De Gea being as good as he is kinda taught how useless it is to spend that much money on a keeper, particularly when there are issues elsewhere.

3. Right Back - I do think we should get one. This season pretty much is a test for Dalot. I think he was good today and seemed good defensively as well. I would like to see what he ends up looking like.

4. Striker - The modern game is moving away from a specified no.9. It's a position that is really expensive and may not represent value in the market. We need the year to heavily scout the position because buying a Lukaku or Morata would cost us significantly. I personally would rather for us to pick up good attackers with good potential and have them compete with Martial/potential Memphis. That way, even if we don't get a 30 goal per season forward, we would have strikers in that position that could supplement each other to achieve even more than that number.

I say this because if you look through premier league history, most of the teams who have won the league have not had 20 league goals per season strikers in their teams. Our 93-95 team didn't. Our 1997 - 2001 team didn't. Arsenal's 98 team didn't. Chelsea's 04-06 team didn't. Chelsea's 14-15 team didn't. Both City's 14 and 18 teams didn't as well.

Additionally, we have Bruno Fernandes who I expect to chip in with a bunch. Rashford is also a goal scoring forward as well.

The problem with Eriksen in that role is he doesn't seem to have that dribble through midfield and ability to make those incisive passes
