Di Maria and Mata could keep Depay out of the lineup. Sterling too, but Lallana and Markovic won't scare him.
Only if they play better than him. Competition is good. Also we will have more than 50 games to play next season. Depth is good.

Rawk and other Liverpool forums seem convinced they are getting him. This will suck big time if its true. Depay will be a major star in another 2 or 3 years.
Assuming we're actually in for him, why the hell would he chose that lot over us?

Only reason I could think of is playing time but then again why would he move to a non-champions league club? I think he's better than anyone they have and give or take on Sterling's level but being Dutch I would think van Gaal will give him a lot of chances.

I doubt it, we get French in school but that wasn't a very good time for him. Language shouldn't really be an issue though when moving somewhere, can easily be pick up.
Genuinely curious about this, how come every 20 year old I've met from Belgium or The Netherlands can speak English so well, but I can barely speak two lines of Irish?

If RAWK said the grass is green I'd go outside and check, never has there been a bigger collection of cnuts

I can't see a thing on RAWK about them signing Depay. Plus, they don't even have a transfer window board up n' running.

According to an article, Liverpool are preparing a bid of £20m. Pah, that's mere chickenfeed these days, and would buy you the left nostril of Peter Crouch. PSV will probably blow their noses in the bid, and throw it in a bin.

Well, we get English in school, so everybody learns it. But I never really had to learn English for school as I already learned from mostly tv and maybe also music. At first through Dutch subtitles. Later on I remember just watching the BBC as a kid too. Nowadays I get annoyed by Dutch subtitles as they distract. And with internet now it's even more part of our day to day language probably. It's not just Netherlands and Belgium by the way, it's the same for Scandinavian countries I think.

The fee for Memphis is 25-30m Euro. 30m Euro = £22m. It has been confirmed Memphis can decide where he wants to go, PSV will accept all bids for that rumoured price. He's currently checking his options first.

We have the biggest pull: CL, van Gaal will give him gametime, RvP & Blind, wages.

The only reason he'd choose for Liverpool is if he's guaranteed much more gametime, which I doubt. Van Gaal won't buy him for the bench.

The Dutch journo van Der Kraan has been saying recently that Liverpool are really big contenders for l him. He was on the MUTV thing with Van Gaal recently and was mentioned a lot last year Regarding Van Gaal. He could well be going to Liverpool.

He also said Sneidjer to United was a done deal for weeks. He is the dutch Andy Mitten. He thinks he knows stuff but he doesnt know feck all.

Van der Kraan already said a month ago that Liverpool are strong contenders to sign him, purely based off the fact that there were Liverpool scouts at Depay's games every time. And now according to Van der Kraan Liverpool are big contenders because the PSV directors said sunday that officially only Liverpool were talking to Depay, but they also said Manchester United made it's first enquiry only a few days earlier.

In my opinion he knows very little, and is just drawing his own conclusions. Not to mention he's a Feyenoord expert(even that not a great one), not a PSV one. The other reports are from more reliable Dutch journalists, Thijs Slegers and Rik Elfrink.

Liverpool have been following him for over a year, they've made contact with his agent multiple times. They're after him and will do their best to get him. The only thing they could beat us on is guaranteed game time, but I doubt it.

Thijs Slegers reported PSG left a good impression on him, I think he would even prefer them over Liverpool.

In the end it's Memphis' decision though, van Gaal seems much more logical. He's currently visiting multiple clubs, this will at least give him the upper hand in negotiating wages. We have to wait and see where he ends up, I have a feeling it will be MUFC.

He favorited this a while ago..

Cheers. Really still think this could go either way. Hard to imagine him choosing Liverpool over us but they're absolutely desperate for a "marquee" signing. Considering our blatant interest and the LVG link, it would be perfect for them really. Hopefully he sees sense.

Apparently Zenden and Kuyt are selling him on the Anfield atmosphere according to that thread , he's gonna be in for a shock......................

 We have RVP, Blind, LVG and not to mention the other dutch coaches trying to sell him on going Old Trafford. I think I know who is going to win that battle.

Ramsey chose Arsenal over us in similar circumstances IMO.

Arsenal are bigger than Liverpool at least now. They can offer more money, better location, Champions League football (and have done consistently for quite some time now). They are a bigger draw than Liverpool are. Also the dutch connection between Depay and all our staff wasnt there. There is absolutely nothing similar to the Ramsey deal if you think about it.

More from the fact that we were seemingly completely convinced we had him (even announced it on the site) only for Arsenal to swoop in. Also, the gap between us and Liverpool now is comparable to the gap between us and Arsenal at the time - including the possible difference in playing time.

Playing time I dont think is going to be a problem. Given our luck with injuries he will definitely get time. The gap between Arsenal and us was much closer than the gap between us and Liverpool currently.

He'll pretty much be a guaranteed starter for every Liverpool game, I can't see anything close to that for us. Having said that, signing for Liverpool now means he will be stuck there for at least the next four years, and it will probably rule him out from playing for another English club.

Nothing is given. If honestly someone said to you at the beginning of the season that during our toughest months of the season in March and April we will have Ashley Young starting over Januzaj and Di Maria, would you have believed them? Van Gaal does everything on merit not reputation. Depay if he takes his chances will start for us no matter who is on the bench.

Aye, I can't argue with that. The greatest thing about LvG IMO is the fact that everyone plays based on form and not on reputation.

Would be an excellent purchase alongside Pjanic and Lacazette............ Ok muppet mode over.

Interesting point, Ramsey was apparently a United fan too. Arsenal were getting regular Champions league football though. He knew he would get the opportunity in the Arsenal first team, we didn't even let Pogba properly do that in our midfield at the time. Point is, except for last year Liverpool have been way of competing on the highest level. Depay clearly wants to progress to the next level, he can do that with us. LVG give him his big break on the international scene, there is no reason to think he won't do the same at United. We can compete financially, Old Trafford is a bigger platform for him to perform and LVG is a better manager. We are clearly a team on the up and everyone knows it. A few tweaks in the Summer and we will be genuine contenders for the title. Can you honestly say Liverpool will be if they miss out on Champions league. There is uncertainty with Sterling and replacing Stevie Stamp is a huge task, that experience in the dressing room can not be underestimated. I would be more worried about Bayern or P$G but we still have a great chance of signing him.

Heh, that's how I learned English as a kid in Indonesia too.

If we want him we will get him, in this case it's that simple.

Depth is good for United. Maybe not so much for Depay.

There is a case to be made for signing for a team like Wolfsburg, Liverpool or Spurs that assures you a greater chance of playing time when you're 21, signing a 4 year deal and looking to make your big move with a year to go when your team basically has to agree to sell you, as you're entering your peak at 24.

I am puzzled that some would entertain the possibility for Depay to join Liverpool
even Sterling refused a 150k / wk (asshole!) offer playing there. And they have to pay Henderson 100k/wk just to keep him happy.

What makes you sure he wont start for us?
