Bloody awful!
Bullshit. I don't live there but my sister does and I've been there around 10 times. Absolutely great city in my opinion. Huge mall (Arndale) right in the middle of the city. Trafford Centre which is the biggest mall in west Europe is just outside the city. Many great restaurants and places to go out. I even love the weather there!

Is that what we're famous for these days?

I was only joking but you need to get out of the cultural gutter. The Trafford Centre is a terrible place!

I love the city and am very proud to be a Mancunian but while it's a great city for young professionals I'm not sure it's a greatly entertaining place for ambitious young footballers with shedloads of cash.

Agreed. While I've never been to Manchester, it seems like a great cultural hub and all-around great city. But when you're a young football star earning a crap load of money by the week, it's hard not to be tempted by more "flashy" cities. Though in my opinion, I think Paris is a bit overrated. Barca would be a city that would be nearly impossible to compete with in terms of attraction for young footballers.

Because if they can score for fun out in the wing while playing well as a winger it gives you the option to have a scoring striker as well which is double the goals. Goal scoring wingers are rare, especially high scoring ones. If they're a threat too they spread the defense even more.

For example if Depay can score 20 from the wing and 25 up front who will score from the right hand side? Young scored 2 goals from the right.

Depay as striker
25 goals + Ashley Youngs 2 goals = 27 goals.

Depay as winger
20 goals + Rooneys 15 goals = 35 goals.

You quoted me saying Bale - Depay - Di Maria

But then you mention Ashley Young and Rooney.

Bar the climate, I don't think that there is much difference to be fair. Of course if the player in question is Ronaldinho or Maicon then yeah, but most of the players are professional and it is not that they spent their evenings going to nice bars and staying late.

I'm sure Louis can introduce Memphis to Wings. From there it's a formality to embrace the Manchester life for Dutch folk, right?

Since when did the city become the be all and end all in th decision making process?

Personally I prefer Manchester, but in also opposed to living in cities so I guess for me Manchester is the lesser of 2 evils lol. But I can never understand people talking about how great Paris is. Sure it's cool to look at the sites and eat the nice good but after a few days of crowded, dirty streets and constantly dealing with scammers trying to take your money, it gets pretty old.

The Mirror says he met with Liverpool this week and they look set to make the signing.

He went to Liverpool, PSG and Manchester United with his agent. He hasn't chosen yet, but we obviously have the best pulling power with CL (probably), our wages and van Gaal. It's no done deal yet, but I have faith

Its at this point we point out he was not good enough anyway, and he would not suit the system either, Liverpool are welcome to him, etc, etc

He's not coming lads, not since the Dutch Pancake House closed down.

I was getting worried there, Liverpool fans were getting really excited because of a report on the daily mirror.

It is a great city, but I'm not sure I've ever heard anybody cite the Arndale centre as a reason why before! I can't picture the lure of TK Max, Aldi and Wilko being quite enough for your average Premier League footballer.
The Arndale isn't a selling point but since it was revamped it's a hell or a lot nicer than it used to be. It's barely any different to the Trafford Centre really.

Reading reports that Depay decided to stay with PSV. Manchester and Paris just couldn't compete with the glorious city of Eindhoven.

Manchester. Nicer than it used to be.

You should work for the tourist board.:smirk:
 you know what I mean, the Arndale used to be a dump, it's nice now.

Add in the triangle, Spinningfields, King St, Harvey Nics, Selfridges etc, there's plenty of great shops in the city centre.

If the location is that important to him, then he's not made to play for our club.

Rawk and other Liverpool forums seem convinced they are getting him. This will suck big time if its true. Depay will be a major star in another 2 or 3 years.
