Robben, Rooney and Di Maria upfront...

Dont love the average age of that line though.. Cant see them loosing Robben yet either.. Is Ribery still there?[/QUOTE]

Yeah he is,

Know what you mean about the age thing, but my god on paper that rips most teams apart!

So did Di Maria, Falcao, RvP and Rooney at the start of the season.

I'm getting more unsure about this happening with each post. Will be gutted if he doesn't join us. I even bought him on FIFA. :(

He's a top level talent, so no surprises that Bayern and PSG are interested. Some on here are still not convinced though.

Which is suprising because I remember me and one other poster on here trying to convince what seemed liked hundreds about Strootmans credentials and he was deemed not good enough. Several big injuries later but pre his latest set back he was deemed perfect for us all because LVG rates him. If he rates Depay should be good enough from them again.

Van Gaal is to this deal what Pep was to Thiago. We know how that ended, this will go the same way.

The only concern I have is if Depay is our 2nd choice target and while we try and get the 1st one, he ends up signing elsewhere.

£18m is currently €25m. I'd be delighted to sign a player like him for sub £20m.

Yeah, my stance on him vs the likes Bale/Sterling etc is unchanged, but for £18m he could be a bargain.

If it's not wrapped up by LVG already then he has other targets. He knows the player etc too well not to have stepped in.
Widely acknowledged that we have 3 signings wrapped up for the summer, coupled with the rjumour LVG told him to stay in Holland for one more season. This was before PSV confirmed PSG were in for him in Jan. There has to be a reason he turned them down. PSG are a huge project right now.

If it's down to money then I see no problem with Bayern getting involved. I'd love to see Depay here next season, I'm just a little concerned he'd personally rather joining Bayern.

BBC continue to label him a striker

  • Manchester United could have the edge over Liverpool in a battle for rising Dutch talent Memphis Depay, according to Ronald de Boer.

Both Premier League clubs have been linked with the £25m-rated PSV Eindhoven striker.

Former Ajax and Holland midfielder De Boer told Talksport: "I don't want to say which club is more suitable for him, but if he goes to United he knows there is a Dutch coach there in Van Gaal who knows him from the World Cup. That is an advantage."

De Boer Depay as "one of the biggest talents in Europe", adding "he has everything".

I'm really going to hate Bayern if this lad goes there

Obviously just a re-up of other sources but here's the link to a standard Jamie Jackson fodder article;

United have a good relationship with PSV in the transfer market, having signed two of their best-ever players, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Jaap Stam, from the Dutch club.

The former Ajax, Barcelona and Holland midfielder Ronald de Boer felt Van Gaal had the edge in the race to sign the winger.

“I don’t want to say which club is more suitable for him, but if he goes to United he knows there is a Dutch coach there who knows him from the World Cup. That is an advantage,” he told Talksport.

Bayern are looking at long term replacements for Ribery and Robben. I think they've been linked to Sterling too.

He won't pick Liverpool ahead of us and there's zero chance of him picking Spurs ahead of us. Bayern on the other hand would be a decent proposition.

Top names but i have qualms with adm that far forward, id rather..

Depay Rooney Robben
ADM carrick Herrera

But LVG doesnt see him there, i know, so id take the diamond with

Carrick
Di Maria Isco
Robben
Rooney Depay

I think journalists are getting confused between pound sterling and euros.

PSV want around €25million; some journalists are reporting £25million.

This to me reads as lazy and poorly researched articles.

That would be hugely frustrating.
If he really is available for in and around 20mil, I say we get him in anyway and then focus on the other target.

What's the risk really? We've spent 18-20mil on several players who haven't really worked out.
He's hugely talented, physically excellent and very young. A steal at that price.

Aren't they all just guessing anyway?

Confusion could also be stemming from the fact PSV have publicly said it will take a bid "far higher" than Spurs' £15mil to sign him.

Yeah that happens a lot. They're a bunch of lasy cnuts a lot of the time.

As far as I understand the Bayern link originates from an article from a Dutch newspaper's site earlier today, which normally is quite reliable. They claim Bayern showed interest last summer, and made several approaches, but Depay chose to stay another season. Bayern is expected to come back for him.

So there's nothing new from them yet. But I guess we can assume Depay's agent has stayed in touch with clubs that showed interest this past season.

Also, that same newspaper has an article today on how Depay basically gets control over where he goes. They leave it upto Depay first to come to an agreement with a club, and then PSV will start negotiations with the club.

Yeah, from what I understand 25 million euros is the minimum they want, I'd expect him to go for 25 to 30 million euros. But 30 million euros is still no more than 21.5 million pounds.

It got to a stage where it's going be very annoying if he doesn't end up being here. Hopefully we can get it done it quickly, no more transfer sagas please. Last summer was too much.

y'all need to relax, depay and hummels are already wrapped up....and possibly clyne.

Don't think you'll find PSV complaining about that instant mark up for a starting bid!

Next thing you know Depay tweets about signing for the Champions of Europe.
I remember someone, somewhere trying to claim that Hazard said 'Champions of Europe' and not 'Current Champions of Europe' And was therefore still signing for us

He's not compareable to those players, maybe that's why you haven't seen him perform magic? You can't judge a fish on his ability to climb a tree.

Memphis Depay is all about contribution in the final 3rd. He can create goals out of nothing or be at the end of a pass to score. His overall play used to be poor and he's still not the finished product yet. It's very clear that he's improving his obvious weaker points and he seems to have great vision already. His final ball may be lacking but if this keeps improving he will be compareable to Ronaldo/Bale in playing style.

 Now I'm picturing you as Mr. Miyagi!

It does seem as if he's trying to turn himself into a Ronaldo/Bale type, but when his name first appeared in this forum he was trying more with the ball and wasn't so economical.
