He seems a good talent but I'm not convinced yet. Didn't really look that good to me at the WC and seemed to have a lot of flaws in his game then. I don't mind us buying him, considering he won't be that expensive. But at the same time, I really hope that we're able to land someone like Reus, who would also be cheap and is certainly world class. I'm not interested in Bale simply because of the ridiculous pricetag. But even if we got Reus, we should still considering signing Depay as well. (especially if we're letting Falcao go)
Cheap as in his buyout clause/transfer fee. Obviously the wages and signing on fee wouldn't be cheap. But then again Reus is a much better player than Depay at this point.Highly doubt he would be cheap, depends on your classification of cheap i suppose

Depends if Louis van Gaal is planning to stick with the diamond or move to 4-3-3.
Either way I'd sign him even if he played as a forward because he would offer something different, he could drift to the left flank sometimes.
Angel di Maria is intelligent in finding those pockets of space, if Depay drifts to the left he will find the space central, that said, imagine situations where Shaw, di Maria and Depay would find themselves on the left, they'd be a nightmare.
Does sound like a good approach, we'd have a formidable left side if that does happen. Could probably do with upgrades on the other side of the pitch though...Depends if Louis van Gaal is planning to stick with the diamond or move to 4-3-3.

Yea I agree. Especially with the Bild report that Bayern have ruled out signing Reus. It really doesn't make sense for Real to go for him, but Real Madrid have never really operated logically under Perez. Chelsea just signed Cuadrado and still have Willian, Oscar, Hazard. City could be interested but they already have quite a few wide options. Same with Arsenal. As long as we get top 4 this season, we can have a strong chance at getting Reus, assuming we're interested.I reckon we can get both, as Barcelona are banned - they seemed to be our rivals for his signature, unless Perez deems him worthy of a blockbuster deal... then we are toast, would be wise to sign Depay early though.
Waiting for the day we agree a deal now. Becoming the no brainer potential signing of the season for us. Will be thoroughly disappointed if he goes elsewhere.
That is the attacking line up I want next season. Januzaj rotating in and out as well.We should go after Reus and Depay aggressively. Both cheap relatively speaking and young.
Depay-Rooney-Reus
-Di Maria-
Memphis Depay's former youth coach at PSV Eindhoven believes the winger can follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and feels he would be perfect for Louis van Gaal to work with at Manchester United.
Mart van Duren played his part in bringing Depay up through the youth ranks at PSV, taking a close look at the winger at every turn and guiding him along the way.
Van Duren was himself a winger and took Depay under his wing, being nothing but impressed with the starlet and especially his will to win, which for some coaches could present a challenge when it is so fierce, the Dutchman claims.
"For many coaches it's challenging to coach guys like him because he is an absolute winner", Van Duren told FOX Sports.
"If someone did not do everything to win, you had a problem. When he got the feeling that he was not given the right incentives, it was sometimes frustrating.
"I've always fought for those kinds of guys. They have a certain talent.
"I find it understandable that people can be reminded of Ronaldo by Memphis. Well, I believe he is going to get close."
"Hopefully he can have the same career as Ronaldo. That will depend on the choices he makes in his career in the future. Ronaldo did it very well of course.
"He must choose a club that fits him, also in terms of the football.
"Would he fit at Manchester United with Louis van Gaal? Yes, that's what I think."
The 20-year-old's contract at the Philips Stadion runs until 2018.
He definitely has that "rough diamond" look about him though. He has fantastic speed, is very strong and an awesome shooting technique. Add in the fact he can finish and he could turn into an amazing inside forward.Yep he's scoring goals at an insane rate although in a weaker league and he's Dutch. You'd think LVG would be crazy not to at least try for him. We don't have any true wingers or pace up front, this would help achieving that.
For me, I think we could line up immediately like this:I think LVG will go for him. Seems like his type of player and would allow us to move to a 433.
If we sign him, how long before the caf start comparing him to Zaha
Zaha showed more in the championship play-offs a couple of season's back than Depay has shown for the Dutch in this tournament.
We don't need another prospect, we already have Januzaj, Zaha, Lingard and Lawrence. What we need is a proven talent like Sanchez. Reus or diMaria for our wings. At the worst Cuadrado.
He blows Zaha out of the water with his stats this season. Far less of an idiot too (although he was one a few years back...)If we sign him, how long before the caf start comparing him to Zaha
