I wasn't impressed in the slightest last year, but as you say, with the service he should get and a superior manager in Pochettino he should look better. Front three is looking strong but I still think you're in need of a CB (Mustachio if/when he arrives), a RB (not a fan of Walker) but most importantly a comfortable, ball-playing midfielder in the middle. I think your current crop are too physically and defensively reliant. Will be interesting to see if Pochettino can get you playing like the pressing unit he had at Southampton and if he can, the battle for top four will be all so stronger.

Nobody was. He undoubtedly had an awful season - but he should still be given a chance to prove himself.

We need a CB so hopefully that is Musacchio. Walker will be fine for now, he was made to look worse by the terrible state of our defense/organization last season. Not a massive fan but not a priority area.

I wonder how long it will be before Glaston sweeps in to this thread?

Really hope PSV keep him away from Spurs. LvG probably rates him but figures he's not a wingback, so would rather he develop another year. Next year we could properly use a player like him when we're more able to play 4 at the back. I'd wouldn't mind signing him up & loaning him back to PSV.

Not a priority right now but would like to get some kind of first option on him.

Don't feel confident about getting this guy. Think he'll stay at PSV for another season.

Yeah I agree with all of this. We should do this, but I doubt it'd be a priority with all we have on our plate at the moment. Perhaps van Gaal did have a personal conversation with him and told him to wait a season? A move to Spurs looks less and less likely.

Every time this thread is bumped i'm fearing that he's been signed by someone else :(

It's a bad situation as it wouldn't make sense for us to get him this year but at the same time he seems very open to moving. If Tottenham were really interested in getting him I'd figure that Levy could wrap a deal up pretty quickly with Depay looking to make the next step while PSV don't seem that opposed to letting him go either. So either Tottenham aren't that interested or he's holding out for someone else :D

I was really hoping we would buy him and loan him back to PSV for a year. Nothing to loose and everything to gain. If PSV have a great season especially in Europe, his price could escalate

I want us to sign him and bring him over straight away.

I really think United should sign him and loan him to PSV for this season . This guy will be a star .

Why would PSV agree to that though? Unless his contract's expiring anytime soon (guessing not) then his value's only going to rise by next summer.

Why? He can offer more than the dross that we have on the wings.

Our 'wings' are Shaw and Rafael though as long as we stick to this ridiculous system.

I doubt Depay is suited to such, hence fecking Dirk starting ahead of him for the Dutch.

we can snatch him in one window with other players who are suitable to play 4-3-3. Probably this year we will not see much of 4-3-3 and are ready to bring in only players for 5-3-2 so orthodox wingers/attacking wide men are not the solution right now even if they come we dont have centre back and centre midfielder to play them. I can imagine Hummels can have some kind of agreement that he can leave next year and will join us from the next season, where we already have strootman as the perfect man for our future 4-3-3 and possibly some other additions to strenghten our squad in terms of quality some players will be offloaded by that time... and we will go for world class wingers. Right now there is no room for Depay even I think we should go for him and loan him back for another year. He will be a great player an I am sure king Luis knows it as well but he played him rarely at WC because they played 5-3-2..

I think we might just buy him and loan him back to PSV for a season if we can't get the likes of Di Maria.

Depay is definitely not ready for our first team and would only offer glimses of genius in games like Januzaj does now...I'd say the level they are both at in their development is identical and in 2 years they both will start to become world beaters for us hopefully

I'd rather have another Januzaj right now, instead of Young, Nani or even Hernandez.

Januzaj is ready for our first team now and isn't just about glimpses of genius.

The 3-5-2 isn't set in stone though and Van Gaal has showed with Holland and for us that he'll change the formation mid-game if it's not working. Is suited to play the 'Robben' role in 3-5-2 as well.

Problem is that signing Depay isn't going to drastically improve our squad let alone our starting eleven short-term. Hence why people want us to buy him and loan him back but I don't know if we're in the position or have the time to make such 'luxury' signings atm. Doesn't mean that I don't want us to sign him though, because I do. Badly.

I think if we are getting better wingers before the end of the window, then we all know what formation we are going to be playing. It depends on who we bring in. If its defenders, then its 3-5-2 and if its wingers then its 4-3-3.

Ed Woodward, this is a easy one to pull off, for around 20 million euro's he is available, he has the talent to be absolutely world class, and he also has the right mentality, please Ed, do something.
You must have made a mistake.

Well as difficult as it is to complete deals, we do have some say in who we bring in. It appears we are chasing the players needed to play 3-5-2 as opposed to being linked to a string of wide men.

Personally, I have my doubts we will try to play 4-3-3 as we appear to be bound by God to start certain players who are not best suited. Actually, perhaps I can't say that until RVP returns.

I'd be amazed if any non-dutch poster on this forum had seen him play ten times really. Seems to me like there's a lot of hype on here based on the fact that he's dutch and has some nice youtube clips.

He could be brilliant, terrible or anywhere in between and I don't know which, to be honest.

We need proven quality. He is not what we need when we already have Adnan

We need more pacey, talented wide attacking forwards and he fits the bill. I'd be very happy with him - he, Januzaj and one of RvP/Rooney would be a pretty formidable outfit.

if we bought him e could loan him out to club like Everton immidiately. Roberto would take him, hes that kind of player..

Ahaha I know Ed Woodward is very bad, but PSV are willing to sell him, and they now that a price like 20 million is the highest they will get, they would accept it immediately.

This. If we were in for him it would have been a shorter process than for Rojo for example. So either he's not a target or he's just not a priority. I wonder how Nani leaving might affect this though, I know that were heavy up front but Nani was still our last proper winger apart from Januzaj (not countin Young or Valencia bacause of new roles+ ineffectiveness). Perhaps he's on our backup-plan if/when we fail to sign Di Maria.

I think LVG rates him, but doesn't think he is ready yet or that's my guess atleast.

If some other club makes a concrete move for him, we may buy him sooner than we want anyway. Otherwise can see a move in January/Next summer for him.

If we're not signing Di Maria, I want this guy.

Januzaj Rooney Depay

 Wings tearing you apart.
