Memphis Depay | Corinthians player

Where would he play? How would his attitude and mindset adjust to being in the spotlight again? Nowhere to hide at United and in the PL. At least he can't do a headed backwards pass at Stoke on a cold, windy day which went 1 yard and led to a Stoke goal in his own box.

He has improved and matured alot as a player. The idea you have nowhere to hide at man utd is laughable. There are so many inconsistent playing here for years and they are fine. The main 2 strikers has never had one great season between them and they are still fine. Depays arrogance is what will rub people the wrong way and turn on him.

Germany are shit nowadays and international football does not resemble club football. Was he played of the year in France? For Lyon even?
No and no but to be fair Lyon under Genesio was hardly a football team, just 11 players thrown on the pitch together

He looks like he could play the #10 role, if I was Ole I would be seriously contemplating bringing him back. The buy back fee is very low too.

De Bruyne and Salah followed a similar path. Sometimes players just improve with age?

Memphis always had the talent but by his own admission he didn't do things the right way. I'm sure with a 2nd crack he'd be much more professional.

He clearly loves United as he regularly posts photos with our old shirts on. If the buy back clause of 35m is true then he'd be a great player for a cheap price.

Which position did he play yesterday?
False 9, very similar to Firmino.

Through out the season we get a football silence on Memphis and then "poof" he plays a good game for Holland and he is the chosen one again
Memphis Depay and Ravel Morrison share the same trait, then.
Can't wait until Lukaku bags a hattrick in the Champions League and we have "We shouldn't have sold Lukaku" threads all over too.

He´s got 4 goals and 1 assist in 4 games for Lyon this season, it´s not like he´s doing nothing for Lyon.

United should go near Memphis. The reason he's so good for the Netherlands is because Koeman said, you're my main man. You're my best player. He needs that to perform. He's not good enough to be the main man at a club like United and will turn bad after a bit of criticism.

I think he has the talent to play anywhere, just not the personality.

Ravel Morrison needs to be compared to Hachim Mastour, not to Memphis or any player who actually made it into a top league.

Caf has this tendency to divide any player who's ever even tangentially linked to them in any way(we're talking "his mate liked an instagram post of a dude who once liked an instagram post of evra talking about how he plowed his wife in a man united shirt" levels of tangential link) into two categories, world class or shite. No middle ground

The truth most likely is as KirkDuyt said, he's a good player just not good enough for a big club

I think the current thread title says a lot about Depay and his suitability to become a Top Class player.

Another overated, media hyped player who conned lots of people into believing he was better than the reality.

Ah it's this time of the year again.
Amazing how people fall for it every single time he has a good game.

No, it wasn't a mistake to get rid of him - Depay is still the same inconsistent players with a questionable attitude he was years ago.

Another goal and 2 assists for Depay today. He scored 14 and assisted another 14 goals in his last 25 games for the Netherlands

He’s not really that inconsistent anymore. He’s improved his level a huge amount in the last year. Rarely had a “poor” game these days.

Always liked him and thought he'd come good. Glad he's finally showing some of the potential he had but I do wish he was still with us for this...though he'd likely have been ruined had he stayed I guess.

Would rather see him on the pitch then have to watch Lingard

As always gets said, it's the French league. He was good here too against shit opposition.

If he played the false 9 role with Rashford and Martial on each side would have worked. I think LVG would have tried it but he got sacked so who knows.
