Confused at people. He’s obviously a fantastic player and one that I’d love to see at United.

But if he’s coming here because of an offer that’s better than Barcelona, then it’s for the wrong motives like you’ve all been complaining about. The same motive as Alexis, di Maria, etc. No?

What have we been through?

Our fans just don’t fancy our club. We have landed Pogba ahead of Real, Mkhitaryan ahead of Arsenal, Dalot ahead of everybody, Fred ahead of City, Sanchez ahead of City, Van Persie ahead of City, Lukaku ahead of Chelsea, Shaw ahead of Chelsea.

Still this rhetoric of ‘I can’t get excited as it always ends in disappointment’ is being spun. We’ve won our fair share of transfer tussles of late.

That is very true, although a lot will dismiss it as "money over memories" or some guff.

It also doesn't fit the tiresome narrative about no champions league. As if a potential mere 6 games in one season is the deciding factor.

Tell me how a 19 year old prodigy is the same as a crocked waning winger. Then tell me that you think Rooney was a bad signing because we offered more money than Newcastle for him.

 Remember all the threads calling for his head the last few months? They'll be a statue if this comes off.

There wasn't from the previous transfers he's brought in. And he has to perform well too...
When De Ligt comes in, has a slower year than Lindelöf, and we suddenly think, wait a minute, this guy's a teenager still...

His Instagram activity gives me more hope than all these ITKs.

Ah the classic liking of 1 post!

We need that club photographer guy to follow him. That's usually the sign it's a goer.

The liking of all the UTD players insta posts is a stroke of genius from Raiola. Little things like that is what makes him so successful and will almost guarantee that Barca meet his demands.

I got a feeling DiMarzio will come out of the shadows today and cement the transfer.

I'm not saying that the signing is the same. It's obviously a much smarter signing. But what are his intentions - does he actually care about United, or has he got dollar signs in his eyes? Are we just the stepping stone for him that we are so accustomed to being?

SportWitness think the latest news from Rac1 is coming from Barcelona.

All smoke and mirrors.

Ohh we're poor Barcelona, we definitely can't afford this, as we only pay Messi a mill a week....

I think he genuinely grew up dreaming of playing in England! Seems the solid, leader type that would revel in the hurly burly nature of the Prem! For some players this is more important than the glamour of la liga and paella!

I'm definitely in on this camp now. Far from finalised but it seems like we are going 100% in for him.

Even if we don't get him (I would imagine Barcelona will cough up eventually), it shows ambition in the market, and the right type of profile target. Here's hoping.

That's got to be a wind up? Wouldn't you do it if United fans were messaging you night and day?
No, it's usually the other way round from what I've seen. When a transfer is agreed, the player starts liking or following players of their new team.

His intentions are to get rich and win trophies. We're paying a premium because we're in a rebuild, he's exploiting that. It's a smart transfer and we'd be going mental if we signed Maguire instead for similar money.

We're no stepping stone because no one will pay more than we will. Where else is he going to get that money? He's here for life or take a massive pay cut.

Worse case scenario is we force Barcelona to pay more than they want to for him. Blows them out of the market for a while and gives us one less team to compete with. There's no shame in paying people who are worth it more than what someone else would, doesn't mean they're joining for the wrong reasons.

Does it? Some know nothing anonymous reddit posters saying we're in for him means we are in for him?

Everything in the papers reads like Raiola using our name to get a better deal and some lads have decided it would be hilarious to wind everyone up about it. Granted it is hilarious seeing how excited people are getting over this bullshit.

Send him a link to this place. See what he says. Mods monitor the new accounts over the next 48 hours for anyone named 'De Ligt'

If it happens, some of you will have to send written apologies to Raiola.

That's why they can't match our wages. I'm sure I've read their wages to revenue margin is ridiculously high.
