Has missing out on top 4 ultimately cost us De Ligt or does everyone still think that he would have took one look at how badly this club is being run right now and run a mile

The woodpecker could always make himself useful and hop on a plane to Paris tomorrow, very much doubt Mino would be interested in what he has to say but make him an offer he can't refuse.

The PSG link doesnt make sense, how does he think he'll be able to escape them to go to Barca in a few years? He'll be locked in, at least we'll set him free!
Maybe he doesn't want to. He wants to help PSG to go forward on their CL project. Barca can wait 4 years down the line after he helps PSG win the CL.

To be honest I think he will go to Barca and not to PSG, but it is not unthinkable that PSG were able to sell him a big project plan. After all that's what good salesmen do.

If he goes to PSG he goes for the money.

Also the hype is unreal. He is a 19 year old defender, not prime Maldini. He isn't going to win games on his own.

Marquinhos was also a huge talent years ago, "Thiago Silva's successor" and no one gives a shit about him these days. Was he ever top 5 defender in the world in any season?

If he goes to Ligue 1 no one will talk about him in 3 years.

But what if you fall in love with J-Law and get emotionally attached? What if, as the end of those three years loom, you grow anxious knowing that this will inevitably end in heart-break and you ultimately break down in a fiery cesspit of despair. The three years passing, and just as you thought you and her were beginning to build something special, she does what she said she'd do all along and leaves you for another, and you're left there, alone, after three years spent with the most wonderful woman in the world, you have to rebuild, yet again, from the ground up, you have to try find another woman, but you've already spent three years with J-Law, three damn years building a strong relationship, laying the groundwork only for it to be ripped apart from you by that lead singer cnut from Coldplay or whoever. You now wonder to yourself if it was really, truly worth it as you sit there depressed curled in a ball sprawled across your own feces with no hope left in the world. And what did you get out of it anyway? She didn't give you the best years of her life, no, she used to as a tool to mature before f*cking off to ColdPlay dude in the prime of her life and being an even better girlfriend to him.
Actually in this case of you being Manchester United, you have every right to court and date other girls also while still dating J-Law in 3 years. Practically it's a mutual-understanding open relationship. Also having the label of "J-Law's boyfriend" helps you get other hot women easier because other girls think you must be an amazing dude to pull such a perfect girl. See the similarity to Manchester United's situation now?

If PSG get de ligt and de gea they will win the CL at some stage over the next 4 years. They are picking up the top available players and paying whatever it takes to get them in. It’s basically what Ed described united as being to klopp, Disneyland. Our Disneyland has been like the set of a horror movie for the last 6 years though.
I hear this all the time, yet they still do feck all and will continue to do so imo.

PSG is tripe. I'm sure he'll end up at Barca, but being a legend that helps turn United around is better than hanging out with Di Maria (heart sign). No way this great player goes there.

Marquinhos is still a fantastic defender even though you personally do not care.

I really hope the rumors of him going to PSG turn out to be true, not just for his impact on the field, but also because I will never run out of salt on this forum ever again.

Paris is just not a football winning city (the domestic bullshit trophies aside). They should have taken over Marseille. There are certain cities in this world that for whatever reason will never produce major domestic/European/global winning habits, cities like Bristol, Dallas. Busan in South Korea, Lodz, Brasilia, and Khartoum.

That's nonsense, because you aren't until you are. If everybody thought like you, no one would even try to win if it's always going to be the same teams winning the big trophies.

But they did it on the cheat in the arms of an oil rich daddy. They'll never in my lifetime be considered by many even to be a real football team.

I'm sure they're simply devastated that Billy Blaggs doesn't consider them a real football team.

PSG are doing their best to prove that axiom with the amount of money they've pumped and the CL results actually regressing lately.

I feel like they can’t do much more to get to the top. Neymar Mbappe Herrera De Ligt and De Gea are exactly the standard of player United should be signing/keeping, especially if we are this Disneyland club. All the top clubs would want these players. Pogba is the only other player Psg or any top club would want from us. I feel being in a weak league has definitely worked against them in the CL as they don’t have to get out of second gear to win 80% of their matches.

It's not just just me though is it ?
This Sayros guy is having a bit of a breakdown, look at his last 3 posts.
I'm with you, teams like city and PSG in many eyes are just experiments that are a blight on football. Once the dust settles and the Arabs leave then they will fall back into mediocrity unless they decide to stay for 25-30 years. Then younger kids will grow up with them being dominant and thinking of them as a big club

What a weird post

He is only coming to England... most probably to United. Could go to City still.

Technically, VvD was the major reason for Liverpool's success, so let us not underestimate what a world class CB can do.

That being said, yes, he is 19 and Raiola has inflated his head with a sense of self-importance.

People are railing against Arabs owning clubs, we should first look at how slimeballs like Raiola are ruining the game from behind the scenes. He could well be more detestable than any human rights violator.

Definitely not.

i don't believe the link to PSG as I think they have issue to comply with FFP this summer. They need to sell couple players first before they can bring in anyone.

What?

Why is everyone hating on Raiola? He was hired by De Ligt and his agent, for this very thing.

End of the day, the players are the reason why clubs make such big money, why should they not get slice of the pie? Once a players career has finished, these fans or clubs don't look after them. So if he wants to go and make his money first, so be it.

De Ligt is young enough to earn very good wages, win league titles, try and win the CL and then move for a free later on. Makes perfect sense for him.

I think those most critical have been ex United players. The best way to change the narrative is next season, through playing good football and getting results. I think Lindegaard's spoke a lot of sense in his interview when he's talking about a club philosophy and patience. I don't think we'll be challenging next season but I just hope we start building something that makes sense. There are of course detrimental factors, i.e. club hierarchy.

With regards to being spoiled, in the post-Ronaldo era I believe SAF was the sole reason we were challenging and winning leagues.

I agree that a philosophy and patience is needed, but the sense of urgency is justified. I know that it takes more than buying big names and throwing them on the pitch, but just having a system and little talent to back it up is no good either.
Clubs with financial muscle usually take only a couple of years to recover from a bad spell once they set their minds on it. Manchester United doesn't need to do it brick by brick, year by year, like Tottenham did. That's one of the perks of being a rich elite club.
Part of the reason they can do that so quickly is that they back up the new manager heavily in the first transfer windows. In my opinion, the "slow rebuild" speech only enables the lack of ambition shown by the board in the last transfer windows.

Mino is using the Paris link to put pressure on Barca the same way he has with Utd. Ultimately De Ligt wants to move to Barca and I doubt they would follow through on either “bluff” but you never know...why would he join Barca on a much lower wage than his mate De Jong.

I’d still say the smart money is on Barca.

Your scale of evil is all out of whack.

Yeah what is genital mutilation, assassination of government employees, denial of women's rights and proxy wars compared to a fat agent trying to get the best deal for their players really?
