So, why would we even do that? That's stupid. Pogba is homegrown, and we don't want to sell. Raiola can make money out of De Ligt, but not out of Pogba.
Why would Raiola not make money out of Pogba? If Pogba and Raiola try to force out a move, which seems very likely, we can't and should not hold him against his will. We should force Real pay our asking price though, just like we did pay what Juventus wanted when we bough him back.

People are just being realistic. Of course we all want him.

Tell me what is so unrealistic regarding this pursuit? We are among a very, very select number of clubs that actually has a realistic chance of signing him. It's not like we're Everton ffs.
It's one of the biggest and richest clubs in the world going after a young talent. Just because there are offers from clubs who happen to be in a better moment it doesn't mean that the player will automatically reject us.
I'm sick of people who think we have no chance of signing him. You speak of Manchester United as if it's a trashing bin that only attracts mercenaries and decadent players. You think we should just roll over and die like cowards if the almighty Barcelona wants the same player as we do.
The main reason I want this guy to come now is to sow the mouths of those who belittle MUFC shut.

Haha. Easy now. You don't need to sell me United. But if you've followed what's gone on in the last 6 years then maybe you'll see that it's harder to sell United to players who can pick any club in the world than before (even before, we were still behind Real and Barca). No CL, untested manager, faffing owners, mismanaged structure, unhappy players. It's not like this is news to anyone is it? Of course I'd like him to come and of course I want the club to pursue him and Sancho, even if it's a long shot. And if they arrive, I'll be delighted because we'll have secured top talent, not to win pissing contests on the Internet.

You might not be one of of those, but there are many of our supposed fans talking a lot of crap regarding our status and position as a club, and that reflects badly on us.
Still, you used the word "realistic", implying that hoping for MdL to sign for us is unrealistic, which I strongly believe it's not. Even if he joins Barcelona in the end, it's important to show we're in the game, trying to get back on track, and not settling for Europa League status like some say we should (those who say we got "spoiled" because of SAF).
I'm not stupid either. I know our moment is not favorable and it's hard to compete with the lure of Barcelona, but we too have our own magnetism and as fans we must demand the board makes it count. I'd be very disappointed if I found that the club wasn't in it after all.
And I don't think what I said is about a pissing contest, I really want people dissing the club to learn a lesson. The rival fans must be laughing their asses off seeing our own supporters saying how shit we are and how we are over as a top football club. Bunch of pushovers I say.

Barca are apparently not laughing about the situation with having to be put through the Raoila money grinder. That's all. Nothing overly promising as far as I can tell.

From Transfer Twitterer thread:

Ahh, ok. Thanks.

De Ligt is a fantastic young player, but we should try our best to stay away from any of his players. We've seen what he's put us through with Pogba, i.e. offering him to other clubs.

You think other agents don’t offer their players. Did you not hear Solskjaer line about you’d be surprised of the number of players that want to join us?

I understand that, but we never hear of it. Raiola offered Pogba to City and he's just an idiot or in Sir Alex's words, a 'sh*t bag'.

I think those most critical have been ex United players. The best way to change the narrative is next season, through playing good football and getting results. I think Lindegaard's spoke a lot of sense in his interview when he's talking about a club philosophy and patience. I don't think we'll be challenging next season but I just hope we start building something that makes sense. There are of course detrimental factors, i.e. club hierarchy.

With regards to being spoiled, in the post-Ronaldo era I believe SAF was the sole reason we were challenging and winning leagues.

Thanks for this post.

We only heard of it because Pep opened his big mouth. Otherwise we wouldn’t have. Again what’s the difference?

If Pogba really wants to leave, can't we just tell Raiola that we'll let him sell Pogba, for a good price, if he makes De Ligt come here?

Not reallt sure how this agent stuff works, but that would be a good amount of money for the cnut .

I’d expect we’ve said to Raiola that if he brings De Ligt to Utd we’ll not stand in the way of Pogba to Madrid. I’m sure all kinds of crazy agreements go on, hence why it’s never straight forward...

I’ll just leave this here...(previously seen on page 32 of this thread)

Disappointed if true, where’s that challenge he was looking for in PSG?

To the Maguire thread!.... until he signs for City:lol:. Oh ya Raiola, good luck bringing Pogba to Madrid this summer

Lads, just a friendly tip to those gamblers out there, I would jump on De Ligt to join PSG @2.1 right now.

Was at 6/1 on Sky Bet earlier this evening. PSG now dropped down to 8/11 and are favourites for the first time.

There’s certainly been very significant movement tonight, for whatever reason.
