Where is this "we don't want him for 3 years" nonsense coming from?
First, there's no way to tell if that's what the player wants.
Second, players who remain most of their careers or all of it in one club are the exception rather than the rule. There's a reason why Giggs, Scholes, Xavi, Totti etc. are more than legends for their clubs.
Third, even if we have him for a handful of years, we could get into Champions League and maybe challenge for the title in the near future, which would enable more quality transfers, including replacements for whoever leaves. That's what every single club in the top does.
Four, it goes both ways: just like a player can't expect a club to renew his contract for his whole life, a club can't expect every player to swear allegiance for good. It's not a freaking marriage.

TLDR; stop living in la la land.

So, where are the doubters now? Always said that he would end up here and it is all but certain that this is where he will be playing next season onwards.

We are the best team for him right now for multiple reasons, and the step is Eriksen-esque from his part

I'm a doubter. What has been reported that make it likely he's joining us?

I demand you tell us what's going on.

Good film.

Take him for “3 years”. Basically just get him on the books and into the club and build the defence around him.

Ideal scenario is that in 3 years time we are a competitive side and he’s got the bit between his teeth and wants to stay to turn potential into trophies with us.

Worst case scenario is that we are still not competing and we make a profit on him.

On a serious note, it's obvious United is the worst choice on paper for him tactically/trophy wise.

I agree, and have always been sceptical he’d come here. Maybe, just maybe, we are the best choice for Raiola though. Get plenty of game time, then give the conveyor belt a nudge to move on to his next destination in a few years. It’s his MO.

If this guy does indeed end up joining us, I can see the club letting Pogba to join Real to appease Raiola. I'd have no problem with that as long as we reinforce the midfield properly.

Some combination of Bruno, Van den Beek and Rabiot would be a more than adequate replacement for Pogba

I am almost 2% convinced he is coming to United. I can hardly be bothered to think about it - and I ll take it as a huge surprise if he signs for us.

You're already trying to score points haha

Yes, adequate is the proper word I guess. I'd take Rabiot and Van den Beek, in addition to de Ligt. That would be a good scenario if Pogba is insistent of leaving.

Anyone who thinks he's choosing us is being sold down the river.

I hope I'm wrong but the longer this goes on it seems they are trying to get as much money as possible out of Barca.

Forget him, hes not coming to OT, I think his agent has just put UTD in the mix to up his wages etc, why would he come to us?

Ok he's top class, but I think he wants a fair weather change, and it looks like Barca is main club for him.
Hope the board has other options if there looking for a CB? I don't think they are really.

Tuenazabe is coming back off loan and I think Ole is going to look how he goes, trouble is if he's still with us when window closes he won't be going back to Villa on loan? And another Championship club I think won't benefit anyone.

What's this 'no one is laughing' about?

Barca are apparently not laughing about the situation with having to be put through the Raoila money grinder. That's all. Nothing overly promising as far as I can tell.

So many people saying that he shouldn't come here because we're shit. Has it ocurred to you that with the right signings maybe we won't be shit this season and will be in the UCL next year?
Liverpool had been pretty shitty for like 5 years and then they signed Luis Suárez, an Ajax player and one of the most wanted talents of the world. They nearly won a title in his stint. He was later sold, but the club rode the momentum to make more impact signings and mould the team into what it is today.
I don't see why de Ligt joining us would be different to Suárez joining Liverpool.
Not all players want to go where it's easier. There's a challenge at OT right now and I believe there's a number of very good players willing to go for it.
Thankfully not all players see us in the same negative light as some of our own fans.

I don’t see why we just accept he’s going to Barcelona. Why should they get free run of all the top class players in the world?

We have to try at the very least, he’s available, he young, he’s cheap and he is the best on the market. Ticks all the boxes. I say give it a go. Every club in the Premier League should be doing the same imo.

I demand you tell us what's going on.

2016- UEFA hosts a tournament
Portugal wins the tournament
Man Utd despite missing out on CL sign a player from the runners up, who happens to be a Raiola client and a Spanish team was believed to be his most likely destination

2019- UEFA hosts a tournament
Portugal wins the tournament
Man Utd have missed out on CL ....
:wenger:

So, why would we even do that? That's stupid. Pogba is homegrown, and we don't want to sell. Raiola can make money out of De Ligt, but not out of Pogba.

People are just being realistic. Of course we all want him.
