All links to us have seemingly died. Even the Spanish journos who were adamant he was joining us over them are changing their tune towards PSG. Think we will probably sign Maguire.

If Barca can't guarantee him playing time, then I think he'll end up elsewhere.

Don't want to give him playing time so he can do a Ronaldo and spend his prime years at Barca. That is why I hate Raiola always want to move his clients

Suprise this thread is still open. He’s not gonna come here. If he wants the money he would go to PSG, where he would get Champions League football and guarenteed trophies, regardless of how easy they are to achieve. Or he could go Barcelona and force his way into the team before signing on big bucks in a couple of years.

Or he could join us, a team in disarray on and off the pitch. No Champions League or guarantee of it over the coming years. No clear direction or showing signs of improvement, infact the opposite. He sees Liverpool win the Champions League and City win the league. I could understand other highly rated players coming here but if i was De Ligt id be choosing an easier and less riskier option than us.

Yeah the Maguire links are clear indication as to where this is headed.

Not even fussed, never wanted him anyway. He's the dutch Phil Jones and he's way smaller than Chris Smalling.

feck off barca

This has De Jong saga written all over it. "I was won over by the Barca project and not the PSG money"

that's not the De Jong saga conclusion at all. that one was "I have dreamt of this moment, signing for the club I've supported since a young age, my entire life"

You wouldn't want the Dutch Duncan Edwards? Talk about being spoilt as a United fan... :nono:

That is.. encouraging. I don't think we're completely out of this.

Also, he might feel its harder to get a move from PSG to Barca than it is to go from us to Barca.

He may also recall Pique talking about how key the Premier League was in helping him develop.

A slim chance, but definitely a chance in my opinion.

We are not stepping stone FC. We should look after other options. Every top club want De Ligt because of his potential to be one of the best defender in the future. He's not even one of the best at the moment. If he's not planning to spend his peak on us, then we should move on.

If Raiola or his entourage are talking 3 years to "learn the ropes", then we should be passing on him.
I'd rather invest that time and money on a few of our academy players.

We are building for the future, not for a short while.

He "must assess IF it is time to go to Barca". Well, it's not. For 2,3 years yes, but day when Messi retires, will be the day of Barca going down. Will be much worst then Real's last season after Ronaldo left.
So, you come to United, it can only get better. Can't get worst, can it?

Oh it most definitely can.

What’s the view from Man Utd fans on De Ligt coming to Manchester just to develop and then leave in 3 years for Barca? Wouldn’t it just feel like a loan? Granted he’s a talented player but you don’t want to look like a stepping stone surely

There are absolutely no signs of that, I think we are even worse now than a year ago.

This.

If it's a rebuild, what's the point in signing someone who's only going to leave once he's reaching his potential?

Get someone who wants to play for us and win things with us, not someone looking to move on after 3 years

3 years is a long time in football especially considering Messi will fall off in atleast 2 years.
Bring him in and make it so he wants to stay.

Well just get a 5+1 contract that is automatically extendable at the will of the club, and after 3 years, re-assess. Things change quickly in football, we go back to the top, we show promise, people are not going to leave just for challenge. It's like us, we don't change companies just for the sake of it. It's better money (as the job description is identical) vs having to win over your new team mates all over again.

Things change very quickly in football.

Yeah, also Messi will be 35 after 3 years, it won't be a surprise if Barca falls few levels below.
Exactly, that Barcelona before Messi was shit, the Rivaldo, Romario, Stoichkov and others were good but they were never challenging that much in Europe and certainly not much in Spain, just the pride of Catalonia and that's it. That's where they belong, and hopefully they go back to that once they don't find a replacement to Messi. Tired of all these cheap f***** who think that having being lucky with one player gives them the right to low ball everyone on the market when everyone else is forced to pay high prices and wages. Sporting reasons? yeah.

Tell us what you really feel.

Add on top of that every time he has a bad game it'll be like Pogba "oh he wants to move, his hearts not in it" etc. Same old boring story

Tell Pogba that. In fact, tell Raoila, that's how he sees us - a stepping stone while he and his clients get two big pay offs and big wages in the process

Who cares if we are a stepping stone, let's fleece Barca when they come knocking and just target players like Saliba to take over when he goes.

With Solskjaer in charge the bottom's the limit.
