They probably see the fan hysteria and know that the further it goes, the bigger the backlash when he goes to Barca. Maybe as well put a lid on it.

What CBs do you consider amazing on the ball if they are not?
Rac1 are quite reputable to be fair.
Sky sports reporting Utd not to move for de Ligt.

These muppet are fecking weak. One party popper tweet and everyone gets sheepish. They would have folded like a cheap suit in the pogba thread as early as June.
True muppets like us wouldn't even bat an eye to this nonsense opinion of Simon Stone
It wasn't totally different. It's remarkably similar. PSG, City etc didn't just one day wake up as one of the big boys. They started signing top talent from a far inferior position than we are in now.Mkhi? He isn't in the same bracket as Pog or De Ligt. Was never considered one of the biggest talents around. The situation with Pogba was totally different as well. Also, we are in the worst situation for decades with a manager nobody will scream to work for. I don't think we'll be able to get the best talents around anymore. But we'll see.
I don't even know how people get excited about this.
Even if he truly joined, it's clear he'd only join as part of Raiola's plan to make money for himself and move him on again within the next 4 years to make even more money for himself. Not one logical reason to join Europa League level United now when basically the whole of Europe is interested in you. Spare me the: "He might want to be part of a United rebuild" fantasies.
Exactly this. The only one who is reliable on skysports related to United is James Cooper. Then skysports official website's De Ligt article is not mentioning who writes it. Normally they will say it's James Cooper reporting it if the information came from him. But they haven't mention any reporter this time. It is reporting from "Sky sports news" and "Sky sources"
https://www.skysports.com/football/...e-out-move-for-ajax-defender-matthijs-de-ligt
Also, Guillem Balague agreeing "Sky sources" and he said De Ligt is not gonna join United yesterday. I assume "Sky sources" equal to Guillem Balague.
"Manchester United have ruled out a move for Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt, according to Guillem Balague."
What a waste of your post quotaSky sports reporting Utd not to move for de Ligt.
If we got 4 years out of him, it would still be worth it though. Actually having a quality defender for a change.
Are you sure? Cos a quick google search for that game shows him coming off an airline plane with the rest of the squad (2nd pic):

Exactly this.
Ogden is not connected anymore, and has helped turn ESPN into a click bait farce.
I honestly see no changes since yesterday. All the club have done have refused to say they want him.
The press are using this opportunity for huge clickbait
To fair Ballague called Di Maria correctly and was supportive of Pogba signing from when the rumours first started. I'm not a fan of the guy but just saying that he isn't entirely clueless.
If we could get Ibrahima Konata and De Ligt, our CB partnership would be set for the next 15 years.
He couldn't keep his bitterness from the Pogba stuff though, it was another Pep or money thing. To fair Ballague called Di Maria correctly and was supportive of Pogba signing from when the rumours first started. I'm not a fan of the guy but just saying that he isn't entirely clueless.
If we’re being rational about this, the only piece of information so far that we should be paying attention to is the tier 1 Barca source and Simon Stone, but that was just an opinion so he hasn’t really said anything noteworthy yet. As of now it’s definitely on, though I can’t see this being concluded shortly. It’ll likely drag on just like most other big transfers.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day. He does get some info correct but most of the time it’s to suit his or his friends agenda. To fair Ballague called Di Maria correctly and was supportive of Pogba signing from when the rumours first started. I think people never truly believed we had a chance anyway so the first bit of negative news everybody has jumped ship and said told you so.so true. Why are people kicking up a big fuss? I trust the Spanish Tier 1 source, Stone's tweet was nothing more than a personal opinion, as said many times already. I think the move not dead yet.
And when De Ligt joins, it will be a whole new round of "Messi or Money" againHe couldn't keep his bitterness from the Pogba stuff though, it was another Pep or money thing.

The narrative has always been we had a chance because Barca refused to pay up, otherwise let’s be honest why would be prefer to join us at this stage? We aren’t at our strongest right now.
Let’s just see what happens. If he goes to Barca then we invest elsewhere, but we have to strengthen RB/RW etc

Well well well, hope the news from today didn't hit you to bad...Gerard Romero is reliable. No better source than him on this — except Instagram.
