If anything, this is a positive. It just shows you that the British press are fecking clueless yet again. I seem to remember them having a witch hunt for Di Marzio or someone because they broke some sort of news before they did. They’re bunch of salty cnuts and they know feck all.

I guarantee you, if we sign him — British hacks will print what our press officer told them off the record after it’s all said and done — which could be absolutely fecking anything at this point. Elvis wanted his cut and they’d fecking print it. I cannot reiterate about how useless British press are for transfers, except for couple exceptions.

Well. Seems like Raiola using UTD name to get Barca to up their offer. The reports this morning are likely from UTD sources to avoid being used and reduce any backlash.
I still worry of the level of players we are really going after, likes of James and Long staff. They are nice talents but nowhere ready to start at UTD.
It's early, but this could be a money issue. The Glazers may not want to spend 250 mil + hence the young English mantra.

If endorsed by my fellow muppets, I will heartily lead the way to Muppethalla where only the strong may go.

For all the fellow muppets who believe, WITNESS ME!!

This does make me wonder though, if the news hadn't have come out yesterday of United being close to signing de Ligt (from the guy close to Barca), would the UK journo's have reported anything?

Sky have obviously used Ballbag as their source, so their credibility is as dead as can be, and it seems other journos have wanted their say on the matter too, in an attempt, it seems, to stay relevant. Stone is offering his opinion, but clearly states that he doesn't have a clue whats going on.

Others have given other reasons, but none really have a clue whats going on and it's likely no one will, until it's official from Ajax, Barca or ourselves.

Somebody at the clubs clearly said something to stop all the run away rumours.

It still doesn’t mean we aren’t close or aren’t interested.

We’re probably being hesitant that we’re being used which is what everybody thought.

Let’s just see what happens, if Barca stump the money then it’s probably over.

Course we can pull signings like these off. Pogba and Micky weren't tricked to coming here.

Mkhi? He isn't in the same bracket as Pog or De Ligt. Was never considered one of the biggest talents around. The situation with Pogba was totally different as well. Also, we are in the worst situation for decades with a manager nobody will scream to work for. I don't think we'll be able to get the best talents around anymore. But we'll see.

We may be run poorly but I think it's independent of how we treat the press.

No one had a jump on the Lukaku news for example, it came out of nowhere. I know he's not liked on the forum but he was nailed on for Chelsea until we swooped and no one got a whiff. That was very well executed.

That's actually not true Jamie Jackson of Guardian actually wrote an article how Mourinho was obsessed with signing Lukaku and how he was our primary target but guess nobody believed him so it came as surprise when we signed him.

I found this pic of De Ligt on the aforementioned Reddit thread so no idea how genuine it is and apologies if it's already been posted. Apparently it was taken by De Ligt's friend and it translates as "Matthijs is going to go". Even if it's really from his friend, he could just be trolling:

That's from March. Could refer to the Spurs game?

Maybe. But Jaime Jackson talks a lot of shit and see's what sticks on the wall.

So press close to Barcelona are saying that he's close to agreeing a deal with United and press close to United are saying he's already agreed a deal with Barcelona. Seems really fishy to me for us not to be in for him or we were at least trying to get him.

It would be all over BBC is we was actually interested.

Nobody outside the one Barcelona journo and some reddit itk's (.....feck me) have reported us going for him, he's nailed on for Barce and has been for months. He's getting that extra 40k a week before signing the deal.

But by all means keep believing, the disappointment will be all the sweeter.
If United had briefed the press the BBC would report it regardless, it's too big a story not to.

2 Barca journo's have reported United have made a big offer and the deal is nowhere near done yet.

Until he signs that deal, anything goes.

This isn't my first rodeo, I know what I'm doing.

Fair enough but its multiple people commenting now

Sam Lee said the same.

Apart from the reddit ITK's (......) and one report from the Barce journo nearly everybody had dismissed the news.
Yeah I know. We don't know if we were ever in for him. The only way we will know for sure is if he signs for us, which I don't expect to happen.

The truth of the matter is we get linked with just about everybody that is thinking of moving club even if we are interested or not. Our name brings clicks to the story so if you want your story read add United's name into the mix. I believe when United post a tweet saying it's done but it does no harm to dream.

Maybe we tried our best but he keeps asking for more and we gave up...

The Dutch media are still completely silent. Usually De Telegraaf or Voetbal International have someone in the know during big transfers. VI is running the story that Hamann is of the opinion City should get him. De Telegraaf is running a story about Frenkie's girlfriend complaining about jealous looks from other wags.

Wish i could do a back to the future on this place, buy almanac and then just drop transfer spoilers on the first day. First 2 transfer windows i would tell the truth to gain trust and then on 3rd would drop some names out from muppets worst nightmares, sit back and watch this place collapse.

Also, guys, we could have been trying to get Koulibaly but were monitoring De Ligt situation. After it transpired that we may actually have a chance, we went from Koulibaly to De Ligt. Things change quickly in football. I mean it could be another Morata/Lukaku situation. The guy even dyed his bloody hair red.

Keep believing dude, you got this!

I'll tag you for a reaction on Mon/Tuesday when he's in Barce for a medical

As I scroll through the forums of the transfers on Caf
I take a look at my life and realize I'm a muppet, yeah
‘Cause I've been muppetin' and believin' so long

That even my momma thinks that it's fecking on!

But I ain't ever posted a tweet that is on the banned list
Me be treated like a anti-muppet, you know that's unheard of
You better watch how you talkin' and who you're postin'
Or you and your non-muppets might be thread-banned by mods.

Been spendin' most our lives

Who to say Woodward cannot hire a hacker to hack that medical result and fail him? We are the adult Disneyland after all.

Stay strong Muppets! There are always some negative news after the initial positive reports.
These muppet are fecking weak. One party popper tweet and everyone gets sheepish. They would have folded like a cheap suit in the pogba thread as early as June.

True muppets like us wouldn't even bat an eye to this nonsense opinion of Simon Stone

The club dont want to look humiliated and desperate when he signs for Barcelona

Do folk really believe the “ever reliable - sky sources”?

If so - please tell me when Mehdi Benatia is due to arrive?

This is very unlikely, the club will go to Sanchez levels to secure De Ligt, he's that important.
Or he said it's Barcelona guys, I gave my word, or some kind of BS and we just couldn't see how far we could go.
Sanchez has created all sort of problems for us so we should stop giving that much. Hopefully he leaves and we can clear that wage structure.
Our wage structure has to put De Gea and Pogba at top level, and the best guys in the tier right below, De Ligt is a potential super star but he should be below those 2 for now.

The press woke up this morning with the internet going mad about United Hijacking the De Ligt transfer to Barca. They've probably been told by their editors to give their take on it. Reached out got nothing so....
