So you're just going to jinx our new signing huh?

Yes.. This.. And hopefully we can play AdM on the right and let him express himself without the worry of losing the ball..

AdM on the right, Memphis on the left, Mata through the middle, Rooney up top. Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin as CMs..

Darmian, Otamendi, Smalling, Shaw as back 4.. That would be very nice..

Sounds good to me dude!

I couldn't be botherd to look through the twentysomething pages posted in this thread since I last checked, so maybe someone has already answered this, but someone was a little worried that he would struggle to settle with no italian speakers in our team. Spanish and italian are quite similar (lexical similarity 85%), and we have a truckload of spanish speakers in our team, so I doubt that will be a major issue.

Then it was so what if it was 4 months, can someone please tell me why, please god why there is no issue spending 4 months chasing Darmian but back two years ago we spent 4 months of the summer chasing Cesc and every lost their minds over it. How did that one finish for us folks? Again, that is more than reasonable to query.

4 months ago it was march, nobody signs players in march.

I imagine the normal process is to have a list of targets, registering an interest doesn't mean we weren't looking at other options, darmian himself might have needed some time to think it over and consider all his options, he was linked to bayern too you know.

The depay deal has proved without a doubt that once we're determined to sign a player and he wants to come, we won't hesitate to make it happen even earlier than usual if we have to, clearly that wasn't the case with darmian.

Not too mention all deals are not the same, so our reactions to them are not the same. You can even learn things as you go through life and that changes how you react. There are not a cookie cutter set of reactions we have to have to given situations.

Add to the fact that we have no idea what has been done over 4 months. Was it everyday contact banging out the deal? Unlikely. Was it some initial inquiries followed by eventual negotiations? Probably but who knows.

And why do we have to get all in an uproar about it? seems a smart thing to make early inquiries. We are not the first club to do that. Won't be the last either.

There is a reason they call it silly season I guess.

It is indeed, Jet should have taken off by now, but i have yet to see any over Milano airspace, it's probably delayed a bit.

I think it's safe to say Darmian is sitting in a Gulfstream G150 en route to Manchester! Well done Pilot :-)

Edit: or not, lost connection to the airplane :nervous:

They said he'd be flying from Milan to London, and then take the train from London to Manchester. If that's the case, he's possibly on the British Airways flight 561. Recently just crossed the eastern border of France.

Unless he's on the 583, which is delayed by 25 minutes, but is just about to take off.

I've probably been a bit subdued on this transfer because I know it inevitably means curtains for Rafa (and he's my favourite).

However, accepting the situation, this is the best option imo. I think he'll be good for us. Hopefully I come home from work to good news.

He travels with charter plane, hired by Man Utd.

So a Cessna private jet just left Milan heading North...could it be?

We need to balance his chocolate boy looks by signing Nicolas Berdamendi.

'Damien Day'? I've always though he was a decent guy and it's about time we had a day dedicated to him.

There's something Freudian going on with whichever mod changed the thread title...

Feels like I'm watching an episode of mayday :p. Reading every post in Jonathan aris' voice
