Well I've posted the link from the guy who broke the story, why shouldn't any of us not believe the reporter who told the world of this transfer?

It goes without saying that if I am querying the reliability of this rumour I would probably be leaning towards believing it myself. After all it is not so far fetched considering we seem to be the transfer saga club.

I probably should have inserted "if true" for clarification purposes.

The link that you posted clearly tells you that it's with Darmian entourage not the Torino, I suppose that it's the most difficult part, the players life his changed, he probably needed advise and convincing.

Di Marzio's credibility is at the top of the list for me. He seems to have an "in" with most of these transfers well before the British tabloid press start fabricating clickbait.

Yep in particular any deal involving Italian clubs or players. Hell he even broke the RvP to Fenerbahce

Sigh, the posters here are unreal.

I've absolutely no doubt in my mind this and other issues will be raised as the window draws to a close. It is perfectly reasonable to discuss a transfer and everything it entails. Or at least I thought it would be.

I've more than made my case, I was at first abused / called names (hardly intelligent debate) and told its just rumour and why would I believe every rumour that is in a paper. Well I certainly don't believe every rumour but I would however be more likely to believe it considering it came from the reporter who feckin broke the story in the first place.

Then it was so what if it was 4 months, can someone please tell me why, please god why there is no issue spending 4 months chasing Darmian but back two years ago we spent 4 months of the summer chasing Cesc and every lost their minds over it. How did that one finish for us folks? Again, that is more than reasonable to query.

If anything for me that suggests most of the posters on here aren't even clued in on the feckin transfer and its details, yet I'm the one receiving abuse?

Blimey, Struth, Feckin hell is right!

Possibly, money shouldn't really be an issue for the worlds wealthiest club now really should it? Ok if it was a considerable amount you'd understand. In your opinion, what would you estimate the saving at? Million? Two perhaps? Four months of negotiations for what in reality is a drop in the ocean to United.

If we had that attitude towards every transfer fee, contract negotiation (and not just players), sponsorship deals etc we would not be the world's wealthiest club.

What exactly have we lost out on if Darmian doesn't sign until next week? A few extra days of pre-season training? Hardly worth a few million no matter how wealthy the club is.

While I am happy with this signing (seems its done), it's absolutely shocking that this transfer took 4 months to complete.

I mean when you think about it, his transfer fee wasn't exactly very big. It probably should of been met without question. Was there a host of other clubs in for him? Juventus possibly? But I'm really not sure, I've not heard of another club linked with him.

So we had zero resistance, with a low transfer few and it takes us 4 months to complete said deal... does that not set alarm bells off with anyone?

1. We wanted to see what the situation was with Alves.

2. We might have contacted Torino and his Reps maybe 4 months ago, but couldn't it be similar to how we asked PSV to let us know if anything happens with Memphis?!

3. You say only us and Juve were interested.

Please see the link below where Darmian is quoted as how it would be a "dream" to be linked with Barca and how he would sit with Torino after the season is done and figure it out.. So even assuming we were in for him 4 months back, there was no way he would have said yes.. When Alves signed a new deal and when Barca chose Vidal as their new future RB.. His choice(from the link below), then becomes Milan or us..

http://www.football-italia.net/66940/darmian-‘barcelona-dream’

4. Again one month back, it was reported Bayern were interested.. So naturally the player would want to see how it plays out.. Just like how a club has several options, the players too have them before making a decision. When Pep confirms Lahm would play RB next year, his option closes there and Pep did that last week iirc.. See link below..

End of the day, you can look at the deal as clinching a signature of a player courted by Europe's top clubs by letting our intentions early and waiting patiently by skipping over signing Clyne..

Or

Woody dithering for 4 months and got lucky..

Hopefully you consider this a serious enough reply and it puts your mind to rest.. Cheers

Jaysus LilDicky, 4 months ago United registered interest. It doesn't mean they were negotiating for 4 months! Talk about overreacting.

Some people care more about the football season than the transfer season, and trust that the experts paid millions are doing their job as best they can... Rather than wild hypothesising and buying into paper talk with little to no evidence or real inside knowledge of how transfers really work.

Stop yapping for the sake of it, it's tiresome in a variety of threads.

So which is it? You still are not being clear.

But you will be up for the 2015 Red Cafe Awards, early favorite for Muppet of the Year.

van Gaal practically confirmed during May that the groundwork for transfers was already underway. Why is it so surprising that we had already talked to Torino about him long ago?

It could have been a simple would you be interested in selling and the player would you be interested in joining and making things easy for when we actually wanted to make the deal.

Vk,

I've already mentioned it to another poster on here regarding Alves and yes it would make sense that the Alves situation probably interfered with the Darmian Transfer.

2. Possibly that is the case, I simply raised it here to discuss it. However what has followed is for the most part posters being immature and firing abuse at another poster over something that is part of this website everyday, media rumour.

3. I didn't state it was fact it was only Juventus & United in discussions, I actually questioned was it just the two or was there more? If it was just the two you would imagine a decision / finalizing the transfer could be reached quicker than having multiple clubs involved.

I've stated from the start I'm happy with the quality of the signing from the reports I've read of him, yet to see him play myself. No harm in my mind querying other aspects of the transfer though. It's as discussion thread after all.

Least you actually addressed different issues in the transfer, I actually wasn't aware myself that Bayern were chasing him also. So thanks for that :)

No problem mate.. I personally did not for a second think we could pull this off.. Always thought he was either Barca or Bayern bound..

I was pleasantly surprised and I am excited with this signing.. Hopefully we get the official confirmation soon..

What a hilarious post.

I know right :)

Seems most posters here gain the football knowledge from Fifa and Football manager, sign up to an open forum and think that pertains to the real world

Ironically, your posts give me the impression that it's where you took your transfers timeline.

And Bayern, PSG, Juventus and Napoli at least, were interested.

Leave the guy be, he's just one of those guys who just must be negative all the time whatever happens.
At least he's true to his cause.

Also that part about Fifa and FM is interesting. Accusing the rest of the posters of gaining football knowledge from there while talking about transfers like its going to the market to get some fruit and vegetables.

This is the 3rd time I've seen this will be confirmed later today or will be confirmed tomorrow. It gets annoying really quick.

Perhaps you need a forum that's more intellectually stimulating

Well with the immature and abusive posts flying around here, is it any wonder? Of course.

I've said multiple times that I am happy with his signing.

Imagine querying aspects of the Darmian Transfer in the Darmian transfer thread!

So far, two posters have replied to me in a civil manner and I've replied to discuss it further with them. No issues at all, perhaps its an age thing and most posters here are under age? The immaturity is quite apparent in the tone of the posts of some.

Clearly people are on edge during transfer season :)

Am I one of the few who is just 'meh' about this transfer or should I genuinely be excited we got him?

There's no point in rushing a transfer between March and the start of preseason. Literally, no point.

Am I one of the few who is just 'meh' about this transfer or should I genuinely be excited we got him?
The kind of transfer that doesn't get the fans wanking off at their laptops, that doesn't make rival fans shake in their boots, but that does improve the team in a position that severely needed improvement...with a highly rated international approaching his peak years.

I don't think you are RD, Posted it myself to my own United facebook page and most seemed underwhelmed.

Came into the thread to read some good news and I see someone is actually arguing about why it took so long to sign him , it's 9th July ffs

He's a rock solid dependable right back, the kind of player we've lacked since Neville retired.

He may not be a superstar signing but he's going to improve our team massively.

Yes.. This.. And hopefully we can play AdM on the right and let him express himself without the worry of losing the ball..

AdM on the right, Memphis on the left, Mata through the middle, Rooney up top. Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin as CMs..

Darmian, Otamendi, Smalling, Shaw as back 4.. That would be very nice..

Just gonna leave this here.
