Another example of why English media should be ignored. They haven't even predicted any of our transfer since LVG has started here apart from Shaw. Where was Ogden or James Ducker when we were discussing with Torino? They linked us with Callejon, Clyne, van der Wiel, Fabinho and Coleman.

Foreign reports seem to be more accurate regarding us I have the impression.

you mean Carvajal?

On a scale of 1-10 how happy are people with this signing? I've heard or read good things about him, but also pretty average things too.
9 or 10 considering he's probably the best RB we could have got this window. It's especially good because we were linked with Clyne so much a month ago. Plus his price is pretty cheap

Darmian is far better then Clyne in terms of technical class.I don't think we could have signed a better right back than him in this transfer window.

The Italian media weren't commenting on this either until a few days ago when Di Marzio picked up the story.

Darmian, Rafael, Varela with support from Valencia who can do the job at times... That department looks seriously safer now.

Very careful choice in targets so far during the window and results are quality with some serious value in the market. We didn't even deployed full financial firepower of this club but already addressed couple of most critical areas with surgical precision.

I like it, great summer so far. Louie got tons of patience when it comes to scouting. Worth the wait despite obviously more transfer work on the way but recent actions are the evidence that things can be done quietly without dramatized sagas.

Easy Tiger we have afew holes to plug before we can take this line of thought?

I only ever remember seeing him play once against England. He ran Baines ragged that day if I remember correctly.

Shame about Rafael's injury issues.

We didn't even stressed the warchest and already got strongly reinforced wings. Makes space and money for marquee signings and more difficult transfer operations plus it looks like we want do business before tour after all.

Won't be easy with bigger fishes to fry but there's enough time to close every deal with success. Actually we're one bid away from signing Schneiderlin which can be done discreetly just like Darmian's thing it can be a proof that we can accelerate things to about three days per signing if we're really confident about the target.

Obviously there's little information coming out of the club so journalists in England are left with nothing.

But if we go for a player in Italy, Spain or where ever, local media are going to have information regarding that one transfer because they'll have local sources. It's not that they know about us, they know stuff through the selling club or the agent.

Yep, Baines (and Rooney) were dominated that day. I've only watched him for Italy as well where he's looked excellent, so much so, he was apparently voted the best Italian international for 2014.

Have not seen him enough to comment on his ability, but these lower value deals always get me more excited than the superstars. Unearthing a diamond in the rough always gives greater satisfaction.

Yep. IIRC he destroyed Baines, but Clyne suffered even more in the frienly match a few months ago.

The good part is that although he is quite good attacking wise, he is primarily a defender.

Good to see a lot of high ratings then. I'm just glad we've got a right back who can actually defend well.

I'm also glad we didn't get Clyne!

he's not that rough. He's a seasoned Italian International with a World Cup under his belt.

I also remember he had decent pace. I'm just hoping he has 3 lungs, which is really now a necessity for modern-day full-backs.

He definitely is fast enough. And quite strong.

No idea about him having 3 lungs. For United he'll get more involved than for Torino, but then I don't think that is a problem. Highly professional players can run enough.

The general consensus seems to be that he can run all day.

One of the journo said that Woodward was bitter, and fed them with BS last season. Maybe he is still feeding them with false information.
Good! Lovin the way Big Wooders goes about his business:cool:

One question.

Is Darmian better than Clyne?

If it's too close to call, it seems ridiculous that we wouldn't go for Clyne over Darmian. That said, I read somewhere that Darmian's height could be a massive factor, as he stands at 6ft tall, and it was said that Van Gaal wanted to add more height to the team.

Yes. I said the same before we were ever linked with Darmian too so it's not post-signing bias.
