Matteo Darmian | LVG confirms he's on his way here for a medical

That's exactly what I'm saying. They didn't feel like he was worth the money Torino wanted and dropped their interest.

They also have Lahm and Rafinha with also a few other options so Darmian would be an improvement (if Lahm play MF) but not such a nesc one. Bayern don't often pay high transfer fees unless the player is a big improvement to them and they really need him.

Darmian to us is more valauble than for them and we don't blink an eye to pay amounts they think outrageous. It is within the lign of reasoning that €20m/€25m would have seen excessive for them considering he is not a priority to bring him in. They would have said for that price we aren't interested anymore and because Darmian wants to leave and Bayern are not in the bidding process anymore they lowered their price a bit and we met them with an offer of €18m + some add ons.

not our level but can't be really worse than buttner, which says feck all..

You should apply your logic to Phil Jones who has also played consistently for the same managers. But you seem intent to call him a donkey at every opportunity despite the stats.

Phil Jones is a case of no competition.

I never argueed Jones didn't deserve to play, he has been the best option for us all that time. Yet that doesn't take away he is a donkey that can't play 5 matches in a row because of injurry. The fact we still rely on him and renewed his contract shows the story state of our central defence as a whole.

Jones stats are dire if you compare them to other central defenders in the league and certainly if you compare them to defenders from other leagues.

So much talk everybody missed the last tweet about negotiations still ongoing and a difference still existing between 2 clubs.

Don't stats suggest Jones is the best U23 CB in Europe?

Yes, in almost every aspects of the game, if I'm not mistaken.:D
But Jones is good, like all young CBs he sometimes shows poor judgement, but that's natural.

FFS, whats taking so long to sign this player nobody knew anything about 2 days ago?!

Best RB in Serie A along with Licht and one of Italy's best players in the last year or so but he's not our level?

Good news! Definitely cheer me up today with this... Matt Damon? (What's his name again?) Anyway must sign!!

Nonsense.

Buttner wasn't even the best left back in Holland and like 4th choice for the national team. Also did Bayern want Buttner?

Very good player, really solid and can play on both sides

Far better than what we have now

Really excited by this signing. With Valencia as a solid back-up, he can be a great asset bombing on the right! Would love for us to revive our days of wingers and full backs bombing on either end. MatteON!

The real question is does James Horncastle beat off over him wearing nothing but that awful tweed jacket? If he does then he's a player and half.

Stat wise Valencia obliterates Clyne..

No he doesn't lol.

And the big thing to realize when you are looking at stats, is that you have to back up the stats you are looking at by other stats or reasoning.

Valencia had a spectacular difference in the passing for example with Clyne. But then you simply look it up and realize Valencia has 200+ more backward passes then Clyne while Clyne has more forward passes.

Use common sense. And lets also not forget that its Southhampton vs Man Utd.

Where does this guy rank in terms of the best right backs in the world? And how about his potential? And probably most importantly, how well does he match Louis van Gaal's profile.

I actually saw him being conceived, he's excellent in tight spaces.

A Southamtpon side that boasted a better defense than ours all season and yet statistically Valencia performed better defensively than Clyne. We may be arguing the same point that stats aren't everything.

In some Italians private circles, they call him the Cafu of Friuli.

He is the best/second best RB in Serie A, IMO. He is around Coleman's level (he hasn't ever been as good as Coleman in 13-14 but better than him in any other season) and won't cost much. He is very balanced, being already compared to Zambrotta.

About how he will adapt to EPL/LVG style and his potential is hard to say, but I think that he can be our Azpilicueta (with better attacking play).

It shows more then highlights and memory based opinions.

You can easily analyse stats and determine what type of player it is.

All opinions are memory based, wtf? Stats are about AS useful as highlights, I'd argue, because both can give a misleading picture. Actually watching someone play a decent amount of times trumps stats almost every time.
