Mats Hummels

Ladyman is saying following in Schweinsteiger article:

"Meanwhile, United sources have revealed they are not overly worried by suggestions from Germany that defensive target Mats Hummels has agreed to stay with Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc claimed Hummels had decided to remain at his club but United believe the Germany international still wants to come to Old Trafford and will continue to keep him high up on their list."

Some reports saying Tuchel convinced Hummels to stay. This coaching change might have the opposite effect to what everybody expected. Hummels, Reus and Mkhitarayan confirmed to stay. Castro already agreed to join before Gundogan´s even gone. They´ll probably sign Geis from Mainz and that could be it already for their off-season. Maybe DiSanto/Volland if they manage to sell Immobile back to Italy.

The one I´d keep an eye on is Subotic, who always fancied a EPL move. United, Arsenal? Not like a few big clubs couldn´t use a central defender.

Will miss 2 friendlies for Germany because of Hüftbeugersehnenentzündung whatever that is.

Hip flexor strain?
I'll freely admit that I haven't seen much of Hummels outside of international competition, but it seems like he's hurt a fair bit. If true, is he really the guy we want to bring in to lead our injury-prone defence? Am I wrong in sensing that he's quite injury-prone? Sphaero, Balu, Blackwidow, Do.ob??

He is very injury-prone, which is the main reason why it's maybe not a good idea to sign him (much more than the typical he is slow or had a bad year stuff). But it looks like he is staying anyway.

I believe this to be the biggest negative about Hummels, his injury record. Replacing an injury prone Evans for an injury prone Hummels wouldn't really solve our problems at the back since our other defenders are also made of glass. Style-wise he'd be perfect but I don't think van Gaal wants to use Carrick or Blind at CB again next season.

Of course it's impossible to predict injury, but there are certain players who seem to be injury magnets - we should avoid signing any more of them.

Style wise he is just what you'd imagine we're looking for, but yeah the injuries and recent performances are a bit worrisome. There aren't many cb's that comfortable with passing the ball around, though and he would be great for our build up play. Wish there was a 23 year old Frank De Boer out there somewhere..

Meh, I'm cool with otamendi he seems to actually want to play for us.

Passing the ball is all great but his defending recently has been dodgy as well in between injuries. Plus his lack of pace and athleticism would be problem in the BPL more in a high line.

Same, bollocks to Hummels its all about that otemendi now.

Same thing goes for gundogan and the rest, if they don't want to come to old trafford, that is fine, but let's focus on the players that actually want to play for us.

Young and fellaini (Who even I had written off previous to this season) had a hell of a season for us, they were playing for the club and for LVG.
We can get otamendi and schniderlin....both of who would do an excellent job for us in cb and cdm.

If we are looking for another winger Felipe Anderson of lazio would be amazing for us and would not even cost half the amount quoted for bale. We have options out there.

because we can, and it never fails to create some kind of reaction from Englishmen, which we find secretly amusing.
Oh, and I thought it was because you have so few accurate words in your language for any given situation that you have to putotherwordstogethertocreatenewmeanings. Hence why English is the international language of business. Check out Mark Twain's essay on "The Awful German Language" although over 100 years ago it still makes complete sense today.

EDIT: not read it lately but seem to remember that the "ramming of words together" might have been one of the linguistic traits he applauded now I think about it.

Been wrong before though, so all this is just IMHO!

I personally find "Donaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaftskapitänsmütze" to be much more elegant and intelectually more challenging than "cap for a captain of a commercial danube steamship company" - all thos "of" and "for"..., but that may be the cultural difference. How's your german queen doing, by the way? :D

Wumming bastard.
I had this amazing photoshop of Hummels holding the United shirt, and I had to make something out of it :D

Not sure, I live in Düsseldorf

People are certainly gullible if that's going to throw them.

No progress on the deal being so much hinted at in the news, and yet he's stood outside Carrington in the shirt with a scarf?

It's interesting that both he and Gundogan rumours have totally died lately. Both to stay at Dortmund?

Maybe our Ramos interest meant no interest in Hummels anymore, thats why everything cooled down.

In-demand Germany defender Mats Hummels has decided to ignore a potential move to Manchester United and stay with Borussia Dortmund for another year.

The 26-year-old World Cup winner said: "There have always been rumours about almost every one of our players, but I decided not to make the move this year.

"Of course when the big clubs are interested, and Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, it's an honour. But I decided I wanted to stay here."

Finally we can move on from this.

It was awfully quiet for the past two months regarding this anyway. I think we dropped our interest after last season and we will never be back for him, neither will be any other top club.

Same here. Have been a big fan of him though but just feel he has had some wobbly last 2 seasons. Ramos and Otamendi would do just fine

We obviously wanted him, but he changed his mind about going here. Not bothered since he didn't exactly have his best season.

Not that surprising given that he made his decision to stay back in May, which was also clearly communicated by the club. He was off the market after that. The claim in the second sentence might be a bit premature, though, given that he is still 26, which is hardly old for a defender. Not that I wouldn´t mind it, because the list of clubs, which would convince him to leave Dortmund is awfully short and if none of these clubs show interest, the likelyhood of him finishing his career there would be very high.
