Christ, the press will be in rapture.

Ronaldo to United
Messi to United
Bobby Charlton to be cloned

yeppie we will finally have 3 directors who agree with us signing Moyes.

Hummels claims that he deliberately didn't want a clause in his contract to set an example. Make of that what you will.

Why not Subotic?
I don't know why, but he's quite overrated on here. He's decent, but he came back from a long term injury and Sokratis' season last year was better than any Subotic has had. He'd be a better signing than Subotic. Maybe it's the Serbian/Vidic connection? I don't know.

He has no connection whatsoever with Man United. Every neutral would have loved Liverpool to win the league last year, and they would have deserved it as they played a magnificent brand of football. The only football fans who wanted City to win it last year were probably Chelsea and us obviously.

I doubt Chelsea cared too much either way, they prob knew City were more dangerous going forward and could attract better players as Champions. The way Everton played against City late on I think they were afraid of seeing Liverpool win it too.

Hummels attitude and principles come across really well in that article. We'd be lucky to have him, but I'd have big respect for him if he never left Dortmund. I particularly liked his comments about it being easy to win with 25 superstars but he likes the challenges of being the underdog.

He'll move to a big club. Especially if Klopp leaves. May not be United, mind.
What makes you so sure? Why say all those things only to leave?

If Dortmund keep Klopp and the general ethos and motivation the club has been benefiting from for a while now, I wouldn't be surprised if he gave his best years to them at the very least.

He's in a position not many players find themselves, he'll undoubtedly captain Germany to more trophies so its not like he'll never know success in his career even if he stays loyal to his club.

He has already won the biggest prize there is, but the lust for titles doesn't go away either. If Dortmund fail in all competitions this year I could see a good offer tempting both him and the club.

Granted, I don't fancy the chances of it really happening. We should try though.

He'll probably join Bayern.

But seriously, surely a move will eventually tempt him? Unless he is genuinely one of a dying breed.

Its not a dying breed, its a breed that never existed. Offer players of 30/40 years a go a chance to earn an extra £100k a week and they wouldnt have been so loyal, money entices everyone.

You don't think the likes of Totti, Zanetti and Giggs has opportunities to earn millions elsewhere either?

And what would Scholes response been if United had been relegated the year before and he was on £10k a week, I wonder how loyal he would've been then.

I don't think Dortmund will get relegated to be honest. Sometimes a player will turn down £120k a week to stay at their club on £100k a week, either way they'll be very wealthy at the end of the contract. Some might just think their wage is enough and they'll turn down more money elsewhere.

Hummels: "i want to stay at Dortmund for the rest of my career"

football fans: "Can't see him staying at Dortmund beyond this summer"

Lol nor do I, just simply pointing out loyalty is easy when everything is rosey.

Ronaldo in May 2009: "I'm happy at Manchester United."

June 2009: Signs for Real.

We subsequently find out in SAF's autobiography that he wanted to leave a year earlier. Don't believe what a footballer says in public. If you do then you need a reality check.

You see there's a difference in the confirmation of the statements and what you've also missed out is the many ambiguous quotes that Ronaldo said at that time talking about how it was his dream to play for Madrid.

Hummels has never said anything similar about any club other than Dortmund.
When you get statements like: "What I have here at Dortmund I won't find anywhere else" That confirms that he's not looking for money, because clearly Dortmund aren't the richest club in the world, he's not looking for fame or big sponsorship deals or anything - he feels a connection to the club that he feels he won't find anywhere else.

As a United fan, when Ronaldo said he was happy at United - you knew deep down that he had eyes for Madrid and it was only a matter of time.
Ronaldo at no point rejected Madrid or flat out said, "I don't want to leave United" - because he did, doesn't mean he was unhappy though.

When a player is "happy" where they are - yes, it means they are settled but not opposed to a move - and that is the most politically correct statement they can say that doesn't anger the fans, manager or put off any potential moves from the clubs in the market to buy them.

When a player says a big money transfer doesn't interest him, and he has a connection to the club he's currently at - what can you do? If you're looking to buy him you can't lure him with money, and he's openly and publicly rejected us - what step can you take?
He's obviously been offered large contracts by other clubs, ourselves included possibly, and he hasn't even budged - he continues to say much he wants to stay and it's not ambiguous it's definitive.

That's the difference.

I still dont agree.
Giggs and Scholes have shown me that they wouldn't move so not EVERYONE would.
they played for a side that dominated the league for most of their career. Its easy to be loyal to a top club, where you already earn a fortune, while having a shot at winning everything. Scholes might be an exception, but we´ll never know.

Del Piero stayed at Juve after they got relegated.

Lack of ambition, scared of career stalling like other Dortmund players that left, other BS football fan rejection reasons.

Why is Lahm still playing for Munich then?
He has been around for quite some time even before they reached the CL-Final in 2010.
And expressed deep concerns about the clubs strategy in 2009 (and got fined for that), still stayed.

That's the most logical theory. But he's from a very well off family background, and IQ-wise he's way ahead of your typical athlete. Hence, if he's making statements they tend to be true. He is by far the best educated person to have ever displayed the German national side. And I bet my ass that he does not have a manager he's paying for.
