We'll get him for 15m in January, or for free next June.
Chelsea are fukn idiots, serves them right for following the Levy playbook.

I bet we sign him in August for more than 55m

This could be a very clever move from you guys. It's effectively sell us Mount for a fair price or watch us push the price of Caicedo through the roof and make life very difficult for you.

I don't think you have much real intention of buying Caicedo, but you do intend to put as much pressure on Chelsea as possible.
I hope your wrong and we just put an offer in. What kind of price do you think it'll end at? You seem to be open or resigned to him leaving, what number do you think it would take?

that would not be beyond the realm of possibility and the thoughts of it makes me shudder. i just hope we hold our nerve though; we really need to stop being obsequious wankers in these negotiations.

unless another team comes in for him, he sits on the bench and tries to keep his mouth shut i guess. maybe we could take him on loan?
Yes, our fourth bid should be an offer of a season-long loan with the option of buying for £0 with £0 add-ons next summer. As a sweetener we’ll offer to pay 20% of his salary during his loan….

Long time until January though

his stocks aren’t that high at the moment. Come January he would be able to negotiate better personal deal and terms. So he sits half a season or one -feck Chelsea let them lose him for free

Or Mount has a great season and Chelsea give him anything he wants to stay, or Man City or another team who have probably had a better season than us come in for him.... I am not saying mount is the be all and end all, I think wherever he plays next season or the one after that he will be back to being one of the best players in the league, if he is not with us I think we will come to regret it to some extent especially if we buy a flop in his place.

Not saying I think we should be breaking the bank at all odds to get Mount, I think Chelsea are being unreasonable given the price they paid for Sterling, and others and the prices they are selling for, just saying that people seem to think that everything will just fall into place that either Chelsea will buckle and accept our last offer or Mount will sit and wait for us and only us.

A lot of people are assuming that we now have Mounts undivided loyalty and he will sit and wait for us, think this is arrogance, if I were Mount and a team did not want to put their hands in their pockets to buy me I would not be pledging my future to that club, especially when as a free agent he will have many options.

In the meantime we are still going to have to shell out a substantial fee to improve the quality in depth of the midfield, this just feels to me like one of those moments we may come to regret if we do not sign him

I have never found him to be special for Chelsea and England, a decent footballer nothing more. IF we get him, I hope he surprises me in a good way.

What's your next move Todd? give Mount a contract until 2030 and double his wages?

Because people expect special to be flashy where mount isn't flashy but statistically he is right up there.

I hope we don't go back with any improved bid, we have made 2 statements (via journalists) that our 3rd bid is our last bid and also we have moved on and exploring other options.

When we make these kind of statements, it's better to stick to them, otherwise no one takes us seriously.

Whatever we as fans think, the point is that ETH rates him and has prioritized his signing. The club are making heavy weather of it according to the MEN, with United refusing to meet face-to-face with Chelsea's representatives. If that is true, what message does that send to our manager?

The manager apparently approved this

Well United bidding upto £55m m for a player in last year of his Contract should be enough of a message to the Manager that how much he is being backed after Splurging almost £85m on his other priority signing last year As well total outlay of over £200m .

Who knows? But journalists close to the club say we’re using Enzo as guide and looking for 100m

Hopefully that's that...

why? Just find it utterly bizarre how people are so anti Mount as though he’s just another Tom Cleverley or Jesse Lingard. He’s obviously a very good player, his stats and player of the year awards don’t lie.

Ten hag obviously feels he would be a key asset and fit in to his system so I’m all for it. There’s also the fact the lad does actually want to come here but I suppose if you don’t want him and don’t feel he would fit in with our system then that’s fine.

That we're no mugs? We already indulged him by bending over for Antony.

Apparently ETH is on board with these latest developments though

He's not very high profile is he?
People also think that because he hasn't featured much in Chelsea's bizarre crappy season = he's not very good, conveniently forgetting he's been injured.

The guy won the Champions League under Touchel for goodness sake, was a key part of that team and was their player of the year (I think) but because he's not a "Caicedo", or "MacAllister" people think he's not very good.
I guarantee if Liverpool or Arsenal snapped him up people on here would be bemoaning how we let him slip to a rival etc etc.

If ETH sees something in him he can work with then I trust ETH more than some of the numpties on the Caf... pardon my French.

Bit of damage control, perhaps. If it's looking likely we won't bid again, Mount has to keep it civil to get proper game time next season

He was never going to down tools anyway. That was never a concern of mine.

Chelsea PR. I hope. We rap up Rabiot and start getting the feelers on Caicedo. I’m happy for us to tell Brighton we will just match Chelsea’s bid and go from their.

The players isn’t picking them over us. Another Ugetha embarrassment for Chelsea pending if they don’t want to accept our bid.

Better all round news for me. Mason Mount stays. Will extend contract too of course acceptable for him too.
