Havertz and Kovacic deal should be done by that time.I read somewhere they need to clear their books by 30th June. Otherwise FFP will become an issue
He would move on a free otherwiseNo way Chelsea would sell in January. It would depend on how we are doing and how they are doing in the season as well.

Even Pep doesn't get every player he wants. If we are moving on, it shows we are finally learning something. The club should have a philosophy and target list and not rely purely on the manager.

Chalobah and Maatsen would probably get close to 50 mil combined. Both are strongly rumoured to be on the way out.Neither add as much to FFP as Mount being homegrown and all profit. Any other homegrown players they are selling imminently? I know they can sell RLC, Gallagher, Coliwell....
The manager. Think what he meant was the club should be scouting players and giving the manager a list of players that suit his philosophy and then he should number them like 1-3 in which player would be his priority and then if we can’t get them go onto the 2nd choice. But each target should have similar attributes. Not like Mount and Caicedo who are 2 completely different players. How does that go with the managers philosophy… although I don’t think there’s anything in the Caicedo rumours, I just think we’re doing it to annoy Chelsea.Who sets our philosophy?

Why not?But probably not in time for the end of the month?
Manchester united really are run a bunch of fecking idiots
1. These empty threats
>oh this is our last and final bid
>oh we're gonna walk away
>oh we're gonna sign this other player and that other player
When everybody and his dogs know we are full of shite. It's an embarrassment to the club and more damaging to our image than bidding 5 or 10 million more.
2. People thinking there's a "manchester united tax" and it somehow being unfair that let's say manchester city doesn't get the same treatment
No fecking shit. Manchester city already has the best and most functioning team in the country. If daniel levy try to feck them over this year, they can say feck you we'll buy halland next year, and they know no other team can compete with them for his signature. Meanwhile they will still win the fecking league even without a striker.
Manchester united havent won shit for 10 years (don't tell me about micky mouse cups and piggy pig league). We should expect to overpay if we want to get to the top. You think man city didnt get bend over by every team, player, and agent 15 years ago? Did real madrid haggle over a couple of quid 15 years ago when barcelona was the best team in the world or did they break every spending record there is trying to catch up?
3. Haggling over 5 and 10 millions
You people talk shit about daniel levy putting money over trophies and want him to bend over so we can sign his player for cheap. Meanwhile you want the club to walk away when the difference is 5-10 million. 5 -10 million is nothing if its the difference between winning and not winning the league.
Oh? What? Mason mount isnt going to be the difference between winning and not winning the league? Neither will caicedo and he'll cost 40 million more.
Pay the fecking money and get it over with so we can start pre season on a high.

The DOF should select the players (in and out) and the manager should work with the squad he’s given.
The DOF should be there for years but managers come and go.
At least that’s what I thought a DOF did.

That’s the issue we have. When you bring in different types of managers then they all sign completely different profile of players. The club should stick to the style of play we want to play and then Target managers that play that way and then the previous managers signings will already know the style with a few tweaks. We’ve gone from moyes, to LVG to Mou to Ole who all play different styles so how on earth are each of there signings gonna be able to play under different styles.Thats what I thought too. But for the 2nd summer in a row looks like the manager makes all the decisions on transfers.
There's not a vast pool of top managers available for such a system to function. Recruiting a series of "similar minded" managers doesn't happen in any club. Once one manager is fired, there are barely two or three good managers obtainable in the market. That’s the issue we have. Its a long summer. Stopping at 55m for the time being is fine. Its a good offer, i'd be shocked if they got higher. I'm sure they'll try negotiate a renewal, see if Bayern will bite but I dont think they'll go into the season with his contract as is.Two years ago he was one of those unobtainable players. So I can understand United willing to negotiate with Chelsea than walking away. All it takes is a few months of good performances under Poch and he will be unobtainable again. Anyone who thinks we are so easy to spend money on players should think again. Since Ten Hag arrived, outside of Antony all the fees were justified. We also refused to loan/sign Felix and Savic. So credit where it's due, it's not ideal but I don't think we're spending money recklessly anymore. A few years back we'd agree to sign Mount for 70 mil plus addons. And we'd have Savic in the squad. No doubt in my mind. The fact that we went the cheapskate way with Weghorst and Sabitzer is a sign we're actually more careful when buying players right now.
Bayern are welcome to have Mount, he is never getting 250k pounds a week there. He’d be better off taking the low ball contract that Chelsea offered him.
Did anyone come back to you yet? I agreed until the part where you said freeing yourselves of his 2 year contract get rid of his remaining transfer cost. The math does make sense as tranfer fee and wages are seperate and both have to be paid. If you are going to included his salary then the total cost of his contract is £152M (£77M plus 5 year salary @ 300k a week).I honestly think you’ve misunderstood how FFP and book value works. It’s one of the most boring things about football but I guess it has to be discussed sometimes. Chelsea signed Havertz for around £77M (including all the add-ons he achieved) on a 5 year contract. That fee amortised over the 5 years gave him an annual book value of £15.4M (though his initial book value was £14.4M)
He has 2 years remaining on that 5 year deal so his remaining book value is £30.8M. He was supposedly on a salary of £300K a week, which is around £15M a year, and with 2 years remaining on his contract, you can probably guess where I’m going with this. Freeing ourselves of his remaining wages could probably cover the remaining 2 years of his book value, making the incoming transfer fee as close to pure profit as it could get.
I’m no FFP or accounting whizz, so I invite anyone to correct me if I’ve screwed up the maths or if I’m the one who has misunderstood the concept.
You’re of course right that Mount represents pure profit but I don’t think it’s correct to say Chelsea absolutely have to sell Mount to fund a signing like Caicedo.
It happens in Barcelona, Bayern, Dortmund, Inter, Napoli etc. Most of these clubs want good attacking football. They’d never go for someone like Mourinho or Conte. Inter is a different example, they like their defensive solidity. There's not a vast pool of top managers available for such a system to function. Recruiting a series of "similar minded" managers doesn't happen in any club. Once one manager is fired, there are barely two or three good managers obtainable in the market.
There are some managers hell bent on a certain philosophy of football. These are the non-adaptive, rigid types. But in general, good managers should be able to adapt to the types of players at his disposal and then gradually help the team evolve to reflect his philosophy of playing. This may take a couple of seasons.
What philosophy did City have prior to Pep? Or Liverpool before Klopp? Or for that matter even Chelsea before Tuchel? They were chopping and changing personnel.
By the end of this upcoming season, we should see a significant improvement in the way United play. If not, either the club management isn't helping the manager get "his" players, or Ten Hag isn't good enough.
I’m assuming we’d be out of this transfer. My point is that if Mount only has the option of going to Bayern, he’d be better off at Chelsea. Mount is not leaving to find playing time or anything, he wants more money. I think Chelsea pay a lot more than Bayern.Just curious, why do you think he'd better off at Chelsea? You don't think Ten Hag would pick him?
Fletch?Who sets our philosophy?
I was genuinely curious on your take. I know they are different players but I'd imagined EtH would use them in the same position but I am really not sure how the build up would change between the two since I see neither a exceptionally good at build up like De Jong for example.

Rashford -Striker- AntonyIn modern football most teams have 5 players pushing forward being constant goal/assist threats. Liverpool at their peak: Robertson, Mane, Firmino, Salah, Arnold. City. Grealish, Gundogan, Haaland, De bruyne, B. Silva. Conte Chelsea: Alonso, Hazard, Costa, Pedro, Moses.
If you insert Caicedo in place of Eriksen we'll have Bruno and the front three only. As non of our fullbacks can really produce offensively enough. Maybe Shaw at a stretch if he's since he'll be well covered and will be instructed to do so.
I do like Caicedo as a player a lot though.
We don't have anyone else remotely as capable as the manager to do that.Thats what I thought too. But for the 2nd summer in a row looks like the manager makes all the decisions on transfers.
