Antony was a very bad signing, completely agree. Just that it was the wrong player bought for the right position.

Mount is the wrong player bought for the wrong position, which is somehow even worse.
It really is painful when you put it like that.

Maybe the dumbest signing of the post-Fergie era.

An overrated, overpriced player who plays in one of the only positions that we have covered. Now shoe-horned into our starting xi, completely imbalancing our midfield.

Have we checked that there wasn't any funny business going on with this transfer? ETH bunged some money under the table by Boehly? What fecking eejit decides bloody Mount of all people is our top priority.

One thing you can be sure of with Mount is that he’s following tactical instructions. Every manager he’s played under has led with how well he follows instructions.

Zero idea how EtH thinks that he can play Mount that high while also playing Bruno in the same side.

Very good in the first half. Couldn’t get on the ball in the 2nd which is a worry.

Won’t be long before he is playing in a completely different position to the one we signed him for and confirm it was a terrible use of funds.

We have had some truly mind boggling signings in the past but Mount has potential to be one of the strangest because he might not necessarily be terrible but if he’s good it will likely be in a completely different position, mind you I still don’t particularly rate Mount higher than above average at best.

And this is based on what exactly? Over the top, reactionary, garbage.

He isn’t a cm in a midfield 2. Nor is eriksen. Eth has got it wrong on both accounts hence we cannot control a game.

Still don’t see why he can’t adapt to a deeper role. He was quality in the first half, his passing is good, he’s highly intelligent, can weave out of right spots and has a terrific engine. Not sure why he didn’t drop deeper in the 2nd half

I guess there are more nuanced to being a proper CM

Only way Mount ever works out is if Bruno is sold and we bring in a worldie deep lying playmaker. Like a young Jorginho but better.

I don’t see any balance in midfield with this signing partnering our 2 other main midfielders. I think this is what we all afraid would happen, and this one is definitely 100% on ETH.

Still early days though, they still have couple of months to work it out, but early signs are not promising.

I can see him playing on the right wing like how he did at Chelsea, especially the way Anthony is playing

Today he was miles better than against Wolves. 2nd half he was not great, but who was. Give the guy some time.

He’s not fully fit or are his teammates and they are still learning how to play with each other. Lads surely we all remember us being beaten by some painfully average to outright poor teams playing horrible disjointed tired football under Fergie and we’d a far better team and manager and owners. It’s always a crisis but now everyone can come on here and cry about every little thing. We will be fine once things stabilise. We will make top 4. That’s all we can hope for really. Top 2 would be preferable obviously. We are trying to develop a team and city are impossible to catch in 2 years. Even if we spent a billion it would still be the case.

At least some of the other rubbish we overpaid for gave us a glimmer of hope by being half decent early on.

This guy's been shite since day dot.

False hopes? You mean not writing off a player after two games? Yeah - I'll stick with that.

It would be different and he'd be afforded more patience if anyone ever seen him be actually decent. He's rubbish for England, and been rubbish for Chelsea for the good part of the past 2 years.

I bet half the whiners on here would have sold Vidic and Evra after their first two games too.

Well, no. Because they came from a different league and were relative unknowns at the time.

This is not the case for Mount.

He's also been two-time player of the year for Chelsea at a time when they were actually good. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good moan, eh.

You asked the question, genius. I answered.
Fair
But you've bet on this horse you're going for a long season, pal.
Want it or not, everyone knew Mount going to be our new scapegoat before United signed him. He's made for it

People are being overly critical of him.

He has his flaws, but some of the criticism is insane.

Does anyone but Chelsea fans actually rate him?
Not even Southgate does
Unfortunately, Southgate rates him a fair bit. It's why he's started him plenty of times over better players like Grealish and Maddison.

The same patience should apply. He's a new player for us. I get the feeling many are eager to see him fail - I don't understand that.

He took the responsibility to join Manchester United. He also took (albeit it's lost some value), the iconic #7. He must be aware that he would be scrutinised going forward on his performances - yet he turns out with those absolute shite performances.

He just simply is not good enough, and I doubt ever will be. He doesn't even have a defined position, and never really has. Why? He's "ok" at a lot of things, but not "exceptional" at anything.

Also, walking off the pitch yesterday joking and smiling with James Maddison speaks to the level of delusion this man has. With a performance like he churned out, that kind of behaviour doesn't do him any favours at all.

And Ander Herrera won ours.

Also, with Chelsea, there was likely some nepotism involved. He puts a lot of effort in, and being 'one of their own', that likely carried a fair bit of weight.
