In reality, you are right. I dont know if that is an instruction or because McTominay wants to bomb forward.

Either way, clearing out midfield does not work. Cost us in the lead up to the 4th goal last night.
It's definitely a tactical decision from ETH, as we've been playing that way since preseason and no matter who is playing in that third midfield position. It's also why we signed Mount, as in theory at least he's a decent fit for that role.

We don't play 4231 since last season. Maybe there were some odd games but our default setup is one midfielder + two guys running all over the place.
Second part of this sentence is also not correct, if we're playing two 8's (or even more all-round 10's) then Mount is the best fit for that position. Bruno is better all-attack #10 but that's it.

Casemiro is not in good form but we're doing everything we can to make him look even worse with that stretched setup.
I think we’re definitely playing with two players in midfield now, with Bruno having a free role ahead of them. I agree that Mount is a good fit for the 8 position but we don’t play with it, except at the end of games.

The websites I look at for stats (Whoscored and Sofascore) also show the change in formation early on in the season, and always list us in 4-2-3-1 nowadays. The Athletic had an article yesterday about our tactical setup that confirmed we abandoned the initial ideas from preseason because of our CDM struggles.

Do you think McTominay plays as a midfielder for us this season? Have you seen Bruno dropping deeper than Mainoo yesterday?

I believe Mount, Mainoo & Casemiro should get a shot at playing in midfield together, think they'd compliment each other well. Bruno is so unreliable with ball retention and not helpful to the structure of the team.
You want to play Casemiro after that performance?

As a starter, yes, mostly. As a sub no, which is why he’s better coming on.

I’ve seen Bruno everywhere. As I said, he’s got a free role. Mainoo and Casemiro were (nominally) the two in midfield yesterday.

I thought he played pretty well. Hustled like crazy and has good ball control retention and passing, unlike many of our other players.

Why does Casemiro get in then? Bruno is tasked to take risks, the Brazilian isn't, and yet cannot keep the ball or even make simple passes

A starter and created the winner in the Champions league final yet stupid Chelsea supporters boo him?
We rolled the red carpet out for Mata whenever he returned with you guys.

It's not that he left, it's how he did.

Basically kicked out by a fat yank because he did not suit his strategy. Next in line? Colwill, James and Gallagher. Better boo them too.

The 55 million we paid for a player you no longer wanted might help your FFP issues next season.

Booing him yesterday was small time and Enzo squaring up to him was embarrassing behaviour. He helped pay for his extortionate fee! He should be shaking his hand and thanking him.

What a dumb post. You basically kicked him out.
Yep and they’ve trying to do similar with Conor Gallagher all season. You’d think most Chelsea fans would see that.

I mean we literally had a chance to cash in on Colwill for stupid money last summer.

As for Gallagher, he won't get booed even if he goes to Spurs, I'm that confident on this that if I'm wrong I'll change my username to whatever you decide.

 bookmark this, lads. A player whose only achievement is finishing mid table with Chelsea won't get booed by the fans when he moves to their most hated rivals. But the guy who assisted their winner in the Champions League final is out of order for moving up north. I guess he should've run his contract down and left on a free this summer since that would've worked wonders for your FFP.

I think the reception/booing Mount should be taken as a complement really, shows he actually meant something to the Chelsea fans.

But it's funny to think Enzo and Caicedo could ever be seen as some loyal figure at Chelsea, after the 200+ million outlay it took to get them there. But in football you always convince yourself the players are more than just employees.

Obviously not to the one holding up the 19 Traitor t-shirt I saw a couple of times on my feed

To me that 100% shows he meant something...you would hardly go to the effort of making a sign if he meant nothing to you?

TBH I have no idea, I never had the motivation to make a sign or such like!

I’d start him today for his energy. This is going to be an high energy game. Not sure who for though.

They can have the win over him. There still shocking and behind us which shows he made the right move.

He refused to sign a contract

That surely can't be it though. He didn't think the contract offer was in line with his contribution to the club when looking at players on far more money. Probably fair enough.

The lad is making it seem like he put in a transfer request and slagged Chelsea off to anyone who would listen.

As I've said no one cares about the fact he moved in itself. Havertz and Cech both came back hated rivals, didn't get booed. Mata went to the same club and had the red carpet rolled out for him. Hazard and Courtois returned with the same club, one was booed the other cheered to the rafters.

I'll put this another way, what type of reception do you think Ronaldo (who delivered you lot a UCL and 3 peat) would have got had he returned to OT as an away player less than a year after he left?

I might wrong, but don't your lot hate Spurs a lot more than Arsenal? Gallagher moving to Spurs would be incomparable to Havertz moving to Arsenal.

The same reception he got a couple of years later. A standing ovation.

I feel I am missing something, what aspect of how Mount left was particularly egregious?
He spent atleast the best part of 18 months manipulating the fanbase with constant PR games (which includuded grinning in our faces the day after costing us a cup) and the ISIS style leaving video which was pre recorded months in advance, amongst other things.

He literally did the same thing with you guys after his debut getting his brother to go on instragram slating the fans because he rightly got some criticism for a terrible debut.

I mean after the second time.

Yes but Arsenal are still considered big rivals. Infact I totally forgot about the examples of Gudjohnsen and Cudicini, both went to Spurs (the latter directly) and they never got a single boo when playing against us.

That all sounds a bit paranoid to me.

He smiled at fans? Made a video saying thank you to the fans?

Still not seeing it but it's your club. Seems like a decent lad to me.

All seems very trivial. The behaviour of a player's brother on social media doesn't factor into my opinion on them. Apparently Rashford's brother defended him on social media a few days ago but I couldn't give less of a shit.

Firstly he would still get loudly cheered. Secondly Mount never went on Peirs Morgan and tore your club and manager to pieces.
Exactly. Ronaldo was essentially begging to have his contract terminated. Mount never publicly criticised Chelsea and if it wasn't for the 55m fee they received for him then they'd likely be in trouble with FFP.

Agreed. Maguire really grates me in a lot of ways but I remember when his sister was defending him pretty aggressively on socials I actually thought it was quite nice to see honestly. His family aren't employed by the club.

Going off this forum it would be enough for some fans if it was the reverse scenario, me I have no problem with players moving on, fans sometimes forget that this is a job, if you don't think you're getting a fair whack you look for another job, we've all done it

Man Utd 2:2 Liverpool
Another small but decent cameo.

He's a really good player. Hope he can stay fit. Still no idea what we do as long as Bruno is here, but I wouldn't be against transitioning away from Bruno and to Mount given their ages
