He is shite, and we are shite to buy him for 60 mil. in his last year of contract. And Kane was 100 mil.
Everyone around him was piss poor. He was not good either but still felt one of the better players. So bashing him is wrongHe was better but he plays in no mans land and has zero effect on the game
The number 10 version of David Batty.
Put Tonali in his place and we look a million miles better unfortunately.
I don't have a clue how we solve the problem either as he's not going to get dropped any time soon, so we need him desperately to adapt somehow. We keep hearing how he's a great coaches player so hopefully it's something he can learn quickly.
At the moment, I'm just not sure what role ten Hag is asking him to play, but going forward, I think in order to get the best from Mount, we need to push him on as the highest midfielder, where he can use his intelligent runs to get on the end of things.
I think the big issue is that all these 'clever' players who make intelligent runs and work in the space like Veron, Kagawa, Mata, Van de Beek etc have never really found their feet at this club.
We simply don't know how to use them and its in the DNA of this club. We should really realise that by now and stop buying such players, especially for big money.
Difference is, all of those players, other than Mata, had no Premier League experience before joining United - Mount has, For that reason, ten Hag should know to play him closer to the oppositions goal, as he clearly has an eye for goal.
No he really doesn't though. Apart from one good season, the rest of the time he's scored less than 10 goals a season.
It's nowhere near Bruno's numbers, so how can you justify dropping Bruno at 10?
Because Bruno is much better than Mount in the deeper position, and the only way to find the balance is by making that tweak.
For example. Sabitzer is also a player that didn't boast a better goalscoring record than Bruno as a 10, yet when ten Hag moved Bruno deeper and pushed Sabitzer as a 10, we saw an instant change in our play for the better. This is why I'm slightly confused as to why ten Hag is experimenting with what effectively is the same kind of situation. Hopefully his stubbornness doesn't hurt us!
I feel for him. Nobody can perform in our current setup.
It was more to do with his engine but you're right, I did Batty wrong there. No way. David Batty was a bit of a psycho. He would break Mount in 2.
Batty was a very underrated player. Two league titles.
You sir are onto something.Mason Van de Beek
Think this is fair. However given he's a marquee signing you want much much more from him.. don't know if him and Bruno will work together. It looks like it needs to be one or the otherI'm not a fan of him but I thought he was solid in the first half, especially the opening period of the game. By 2nd half though, he was a complete nonfactor. It's inexcusable for a midfielder to be this uninvolved in a game, his number of passes is shocking.
It's not the player, it's the prioritisation that is the issue
30 touches against Wolves, 26 against Spurs
And the worst part is the manager has to play him and make it work because he wanted him. So this experiment is going to continue until someone gets sacked.30 touches against Wolves, 26 against Spurs
Shock horror, 21st century fans are overcome with doom and gloom 2 matches into a seasonShock horror twentieth century model of allowing managers to pick transfers turns out to be a bad idea. The mad thing is after Ole we're still permitting it. Club doesn't have a clue from top to bottom.
I would be willing to bet the list of things to be positive about right now and much, much shorter than the list of things to be concerned about.Shock horror, 21st century fans are overcome with doom and gloom 2 matches into a season
I remember replies like this in the early Maguire days. . . Half a season in it’ll be because Casemiro’s legs have gone or Bruno is too adventurous, then next year when he’s meh it’ll be something else.Shock horror, 21st century fans are overcome with doom and gloom 2 matches into a season
Every one said it. Mount is a player who goes hiding in games. He is a like a cherry on top of a cake. We are in desperate need of a cake. His lack of involvement is quite worrying, especially as ten Hag said he wants him to play deeper. However, 17 passes in 84 minutes suggests this is a player who, as I mentioned before, isn't getting on the ball. To put this into perspective, Erisken, who came on in the 65th minute, made he same number of passes today.

He is not a midfielder. I’m shocked that it was so low, I knew he goes missing in games but 14 passes for a player in midfield position is horrible.a midfielder that makes 14 passes in 85 minutes does not belong here.

If he is the only midfielder we signed this summer, then it’s curtains for EtH by December. And the next manager might not need Mount at all. This is what I currently feel.
I feel it's too easy to jump on him because he's a new signing and the team as a whole are not performing.
I am, however, starting to think that we have bought in a player that doesn't necessarily fix anything at the club. At the same time, I do think he will be useful and will be (eventually) a good player for the club.

Me, I'm gonna wait until I see a few more games and particularly one with an actual strikerI remember replies like this in the early Maguire days. . . Half a season in it’ll be because Casemiro’s legs have gone or Bruno is too adventurous, then next year when he’s meh it’ll be something else.
I actually don’t dislike Mount, if he came through our set up I’d love to have a player like him fill out the squad but he will never be a starter in a great United side. That’s no shame but 2 games in or not it’s clear to see he isn’t particularly special, that plus the many years we’ve seen him with Chelsea & England of course.
