In hindsight maybe, but we had no clue he would be in the hospital all season, right?

Well, he was injured a lot in his last few Chelsea seasons so there was a clue. We decided to be optimistic and ended up with egg on our face. Sad times.

Still doesn't excuse the fact that we could have got him for free this summer. All we've really done is payed Chelsea 55M for the privilege of paying his wages for one year while also letting him use our medical facilities for free. If I were legally trained, I'd investigate the club for money laundering.

Brainless.

Buy a sicknote, get a sicknote.

Someone had to replace Phil though.

What an predictable abomination of a signing. Add him to the list.

The only way this transfer would have made sense is if it was a rvp type signing that would have made such an impact you pay for that one year early.

Even without the injuries it made no sense at all. But here we are

People are gagging for Olise too who’s an absolute crock, can’t wait for his thread to be identical to this one in a year’s time.

fecking ridiculous at this point. Missed almost an entire season through various injuries ffs

Just have to laugh now. So shit. The idea he'll miraculously return to consistent fitness next season is totally unfounded.

I've been thinking I'll judge him when he gets a run in gully functional team but I think I've changed my mind. He's a bit of a useless crock, judging by how much matches he misses through injury.

According to the Athletic at the time of his signing, yes
At the time, the word was that Ten Hag was impressed after watching Mount play on loan in the Dutch league.
I'd love to see the actual links here, I don't recall reading this.

I do recall learning it was very much a club pursuit that Ten Hag had bought in on, and that Murtough expressed much desperation to get Mount, paying more than his 42m ceiling out of worry that Liverpool would get him.

Sky reported it:

"Erik ten Hag first bumped into Mason Mount when he was Ajax head coach. On loan at Vitesse Arnhem, the 18-year-old's free-kick led to his side's third goal as they beat Ajax 3-2 in March 2018. Ten Hag, then in charge of just his eighth game at Ajax, reportedly tried to sign Mount for the Dutch club on loan from Chelsea the following season. Fourteen goals and 10 assists in his first full campaign of senior football, largely from central midfield, had caught Ten Hag's attention."

Mate, that's saying why he wanted to sign him during his time at Ajax on loan from Chelsea. Not why he signed for Manchester United.

The lengths you will go to absolve ETH of any blame or wrongdoing are almost admirable

Sorry, what?
People are assuming ten hag was the only one wanting mount and saying it was only because he saw him in Holland.

Thats not the case. If you want to criticise our tactics and style of play I'm all in, and I agree he takes the prime blame. But that doesn't mean you literally go out and make shit up in other areas just because you want to moan some more

Needs a run of games up to December then sell for £35m in winter window

I wouldn’t remember which article now. I remember reading it was a Ten Hag signing though. They also said it on the TOTD podcast, again wouldn’t know which one now.

I can’t convince you if you don’t trust me but it’s what was said. And not limited to Mount. That Erik drove most of his signings. Which isn’t hard to believe considering he knew loads of them previous to United

Sell him in the summer, terrible terrible signing. I would be happy if we boot him for 30m.

60m and 250k a week, what a joke of a signing.
