The club were dammed if they did or didn’t but now he needs replacing so the Glazers you need to put your hand in your pocket and get a replacement in now.

Out of context right guys?

F4D4YfXWsAAk3Aw
But no proof in a court of law

Curious why they decided to pursue charges in the first place. This took nearly two years and IIRC, they even added more charges in the middle of it.
The complainant’s statements, together with the audio and video evidence we all know about, could have made for a compelling prosecution case - possibly more than is usually seen in DV cases. But it all hinged on the complainant’s ongoing cooperation. Once it became clear that she’d made up her mind - forget about it.

Ridiculous decision. The kid needed the club’s support, not thrown onto a heap.

There are loads of accused and convicted criminals living a normal life in football, supported by their clubs. But United has to take the rogue route.

They’ve lost even more of my respect.

No it isn’t. Our fanbase isn’t special, he’s not going to be welcomed at any top club in this country.
I wouldn’t be so sure! There have been many rumours in the last couple of years of players accused of horrible sexual crimes and they are still playing as if nothing happened!

No surprise here. Wonder if he'll come back to the premier league eventually. I mean, Alonso is playing in Spain again now after what he did.

Whatever the truth may be? So you’d wish him a great career even if you believed him to be guilty?

I'm not here to judge. He has a baby with his partner and consequences will not only impact him but his partner and newborn. Think it's time for us to move ahead.

But no proof in a place of court
That’s proof of him being a pretty horrible person, not rape. Something which he wasn’t charged with. He was charged with attempted rape. Something the club have decided based on their findings he wasn’t guilty of also.

fecking hell

Yeah but we don't have the full evidence or context of what he said before or 5 hours after so it can't be used.

Correct we don't know. So we should stop going around saying we do is the point

Decision made. Good for you, Richard. Now haul arse on the market and get some exciting talents in mood of Garna, Pelli and Amad.

I've just read Mason't statement. I don't understand exactly. He's unequivocal that he didn't assault his partner. It's confusing me and gives me another kind of impression. However, if that's the case, then how would he still be with her? In any case, they both need to get therapy.
It’s fecking nonsense, and people eating it up should be ashamed of themselves.

He didn't rape her. The actual story is their business, we don't have a right to know.
The moment that recording came out, it became everyone connected with this club's business. He didn't rape her, but did he try?
How can you say it's not our business?

So why hasn't that come out and how does that still not end up with him having to leave, when it comes out she has lied?
Maybe they dont want to make it more public than it already is. You can see how people are quick in judging others with limited information.

Family deserves the right to live peacefully away from internet mob and i completely understand not projecting the entire picture online because they dont owe the internet mob anything

Do you have actual evidence as to Why she changed her mind, if she even did at all?
The police and legal teams don't start building and preparing cases if someone doesn't make a credible allegation. Credible in the fact he was arrested and questioned and charged with a crime, and it was referred to the CPS etc.

The fact this process of a case being prepared against him then collapsed AND THE REASON GIVEN BY ALL PARTIES WAS that the victim changed their mind, I'd say that's evidence she changed her mind.

Yep. The same thing he did with the Women at the club too.

It’s somehow even worse!! “We respect the anonymity of his ‘alleged’ accuser, but also here’s why we think she’s a liar… no we can’t actually tell you, but trust us, he’s innocent, but also he admits he’s made mistakes and we have to bin him”

What!!?!

He sent unsolicited dick pics to women he had no relationship with. It's a sexual offence.

Yes, it was. For which he was fired and practically chased out of the country. Greenwood can move on too if he wants. Just not here.

That’s proof of him being a pretty horrible person, not rape. Something which he wasn’t charged with. He was charged with attempted rape. Something the club have decided based on their findings he wasn’t guilty of also.

He was also charged with assault and controlling and cohesive behaviour which the club also say they do not believe he is guilty of

said similar things in the other thread but you seem to be more interested in throwing accusations around than having a conversation about it. Do you honestly believe it's only about some sort of morally superior feeling for the majority of people? Is the idea that many would just not be able to support Greenwood so outlandish to you? This is a far too sensitive and emotional subject to throw baseless accusations around like you're doing.
Let’s not go down the youved said similar things on an internet forum line, anyway. . .

Do you honestly believe it's only about some sort of morally superior feeling for the majority of people?
I don’t believe the majority of people are represented on football forums. Something you’d have read elsewhere considering you’ve cited my post history so no would be the answer.

I do however think posters who only care about him playing for United but couldn’t care less when he plays elsewhere are a little morally bankrupt as DA is bigger than club colours.
Is the idea that many would just not be able to support Greenwood so outlandish to you?
Is the idea that many fans do not participate in debates on twitter & forums this will not be as partisan to their opinions as you’d like us all to be?

I personally don’t ‘support’ Greenwood though so no again.
This is a far too sensitive and emotional subject to throw baseless accusations around like you're doing.
Those accusations would be what exactly?

Arnold’s statement is hugely irresponsible. As is already evident, all the worst people are going to take it as basic confirmation his accuser lied, based on secret contextual evidence we can’t see, all to protect a CEOs decision making. Horrible shit

It is tasteless, as you say, and in its attempt to provide an explanation for the previous leaks (basically the same people testing the waters), ironically, it exposes the club's general ineptitude. He's basically saying that the club wanted him back, but there's not a single person in the organization willing to be held accountable for making this decision.

I wouldn’t be so sure! There have been many rumours in the last couple of years of players accused of horrible sexual crimes and they are still playing as if nothing happened!

Difference is they’ve not been as mainstream and spoken about as openly, people who aren’t even football fans know about this.

The club have also said they believe he didn't do those things.
No the club said after a lengthy investigation the evidence collected shows he did not do what he he was accused of doing. There's no believe or not believe involved.

“I’d say” is not a fact but an opinion. There are no facts in your response

It’s really good news that Manchester United now has an elite detective agency within its walls, and they didn’t need to rely on the actual police investigation. I can’t wait to see what other crimes MU Private Eye sets about investigating.

What other choice did the club have? He hasn’t played in two years and even before he wasn’t that good. He wouldn’t save our season miraculously and would just cause unnecessary bad press for years to come. Not to mention the abysmal atmosphere we would have seen at every match…

No it isn’t. Our fanbase isn’t special, he’s not going to be welcomed at any top club in this country.

You and many others will be wrong. He will spend a few years abroad then sign with a club in England.

No.. it was her not wanting to proceed and testify and something else. And, as in two things. I'm telling you what the CPS said and you still want to say he's guilty that's your right but it isn't factual. you can be insulting about "wanting to argue" all you like. that doesn't change the facts

I didn't say that he was legally guilty and I didn't insult anyone. You also didn't tell what the CPS said which was the reason why I quoted you in the first place and your response was that I was quibbling on semantics.

In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction. In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case.

I guess that might be something to do with the new evidence the CPS mentioned when they dropped the case and the family agreed with it

You are either mixing me up with someone else or you have a small issue with lying.

No the club said after a lengthy investigation the evidence collected shows he did not do what he he was accused of doing. There's no believe or not believe involved.

Shows he did not, and we believe he did not is the same thing
Its there in plain black and white.

Now we can say the club are lying or that the clubs investigation was floored, but we cannot say the club have specifically said their investigation collected show he did not do what he was accused of.

He was accused of the following:

1. Attempted rape
2. Assult
3. Controlling and Cohersive behaviour

The club is saying on the 3 things above the evidence collected shoed he did not do those things. Its clear.

Whether we believe the club or not is another thing, but lets not pretend that the club is saying anything other than what they have said

The decision, I think, it’s correct but the statements are awful.

I’ll never understand why MG did get back together with a girl who apparently wanted to destroy his life and his career. Because how do you just move on from this to business as usual? Not to mention, I don’t understand the parents and their involvement and how MG could breach bail. It’s all just too suspicious and weird.

No surprise here. Wonder if he'll come back to the premier league eventually. I mean, Alonso is playing in Spain again now after what he did.

We're mes que un club

Pretty sure he's going to have his contract mutually terminated.

We're not getting any money for him....

Why? Mason has a valid contract with us. If we are terminating it we have to pay him out.

A bondage BDSM roleplay?
What the feck do we know what turns them on?

If you and your partner make a recording where it sounds like one is about to rape the other, people are going to think one of you is a rapist until you actually explain what the feck is going on.

So why hasn't that come out and how does that still not end up with him having to leave, when it comes out she has lied?

Cos it's kinda embarrassing?

What if he's a ****? Would you want that to be out?

People do weird shit in the bedroom, if it's fine with them, the feck do I care.

In terms of talent, it is a massive loss to the club.

Has he done anything wrong? Legally, no. But the words that came out of his mouth are morally indefensible and plain disturbing.

This is Manchester United Football Club and everything that players do is put under the microscope, like the Onana penalty let off the other week that received a full week's media coverage.

We've already seen the amount of flak Maguire has had to face just for being bad at his job, the amount of stick Phil Jones got just for his facial expressions, and the way Pogba and now Onana are being treated for being confident, extroverted black players. There's a sick sense of desperation for Onana to fail that goes a lot deeper than the fact that he plays for a club that most people love to hate, it is because of a) his skin colour and b) the way he plays.

Staying at United, Greenwood would simply become a hate figure and it would be open season on him for rival fans because they would have ammunition to do so.

The club have no choice and sadly Mason Greenwood only has himself and his decision making to blame.
