For those who are apparently unconcerned about his current behavior, when should we be worried? What’s the tripwire event?

Is this the English media again just shooting arrows in the dark? Over the course of one weekend, the story has changed from Greenwood having a drinking problem to him having a punctuality problem.

What he needs more than anything is a game and goal to silence all the nuns in here. When he stops performing on the pitch ill start caring, until then he's pretty much our most dangerous attacking player and if was on the pitch against Newcastle and PSG we would have been very likely to score more.

If he’s being unprofessional then why does he deserve to be playing at all?

So far he hasnt taken the kind of leap this season as I expected but he will. At some point he will. He is just too good.
I predicted last season that this season he would be our leading scorer. Maybe I went a bit too far but we"ll see. He will catch fire at some point.

Assuming there is some truth to this, how does this stuff constantly keep leaking to the media. It's so annoying and seems to happen to us more than anyone else. The recently concluded transfer saga was intolerable.

Like it was great of Ole to try keep this in-house by using a fake injury, but now it'll be headline news. We need to snuff out these leakers at the club.

The problem is, that Mason is not a “teenager” - he is a Manchester United young star, who is paid millions a year. He can’t do everything his non-footballing friends do and let it get to public domain.

If, for instance, he wants to smoke a cigarette, he can do it somewhere in the forest or at least when he is alone and not in sight of cameras, but he can’t if there are witnesses (let alone doing something more serious with witnesses present - it must be a taboo).

Almost as if he thinks he's made it already, we've seen so many players never fulfill their potential after promising seasons. Hoping Greenwood doesn't become one of them.

Good for him to be kept out of the limelight for a bit. Also, the likes of cavani in the squad should be a good influence. He's a model pro if anything

I really don’t think there’s anything to be concerned about. Growing pains, I suppose. He’s at the right club to sort it out, and if he doesn’t it’ll be his loss more than ours.

This guy is 19. Age isn't an excuse anymore. Hope the reports aren't true but it smells fishy.

He spent years at the United academy where they teach you to stay humble and the mental aspects of the game. If it still doesn't get into his head then he doens't deserve to play, simple as that. If that's the case, what a shame, maybe football isn't for you. Don't waste our time.

I hope the reports are not true of disciplinary issues and this blows over soon, but there's an old famous quote that is true to the tee,

"“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard,”

This kid is insanely talented, genuinely one of the best youngsters around, but if he doesn't put football first and grow out of these daft recent behaviours soon he better realise his natural talent will only get him so far in this game, it's not enough to be at the top level, all the best players in the world are absolutely obsessed with being the best they can be and at the top of there game.

Have you seen him? He is a great young talent, like really good. Humble and extremely professional, cause I'll tell you what you don't get to the level he is, by not doing everything right. Now, he is growing from a boy to a man and it's a process that is different for everyone. What has he done? Flirted with some ladies, and been late to training a few times? There is no story, and nothing to worry about.

If Fred was late to training tomorrow and that got leaked to the media they would write it as "United player arrived late once again" without specifying anything and some people would just assume it was Greenwood based on current reports.. Think about that fact. Folks probably need to focus on the actual football instead of whatever chitchat is going on about our players in the media.

For a tripwire event, I would be worried if he didn't get to play games as it would mean he would stop developing. He shouldn't play every game to develop, so it's fine if he is out and if he has disciplinary issues they need to figure out what it is and protect him and help him through it, like they do with any other player, not just try to label him like the media is doing.

Well, it’s nothing to worry about until it is. We’ve had successes in shielding young players & we’ve failed trying to shield them. A lot of it is on the player, no doubt, but the club can be culpable as well.

You bring up his talent in your first sentence. Who really cares about that if he is breaking the rules? We’ve let players slide in the past who were very talented, that's not a healthy approach. It shouldn’t be his talent that gets him out of trouble (that sounds a bit Pollyanna-ish, I know, but viewing the player irrespective of talent & meting out punishment across the board evenly should be the proper response). He’s also only what, 19? He really hasn’t earned that much credit with the club to spend to lessen a punishment or reduce scrutiny.

How is the media labeling him? They apparently are reporting a corroborated story about why he is not playing. Is this not news?

I understand wanting to give players the benefit of the doubt, but just because he is a quality starlet doesn’t mean he should escape scrutiny. Yes, this is the first time we have heard about his lack of punctuality, but it’s not the only transgression he has suffered recently. That’s why I made the tripwire comment - how many different instances of failing in his duties has to occur before we don’t give him the benefit of the doubt or look the other way simply because of his quality on the pitch.

The kid’s going to do ignorant things, but that doesn’t mean he should skate by & not be punished for the indiscretions. He should stop putting himself in these positions in order to stay out of the media, simple as.

He is quite a naughty boy. Most grow out of this shit. Some don’t but most do.

what has he done?
- Questionable videos with him in the internet (this is not acceptable that anything of this sort gets to public domain, period. What he does alone - no one cares, but it shouldn’t be on the internet)
- some ... well, paid services ... in Iceland in breach of coronavirus protocol during his debut call up to the national team (and instead of preparation for games - i.e. obviously wrong priorities)
- rumours of recent disciplinary problems already after a wake-up call in Iceland (and his omission from the team with vague explanations from the manager more or less confirms this)

All the above is totally unacceptable for a player of his status. So, amends are required, otherwise it won’t end well

Let us down thus far.

Think he’ll come good again this season. Would love to see him in the formation we played last night, would be incredible.

Bad signs. Character issues. Send the little fecker somewhere suitable on loan to sort him out. Hmm. Let me see...?

interesting. Also interesting, that with that formation only 2 of the front 3 can play.
At least we’d have options off the bench too. I think it’s a formation for certain occasions but I really like it from the 4/5 times we’ve seen it.

Its good to have the flexibility, and clearly we needed to solidify the defence, it’s worked well.

Cavani will have his say too. We finally have 4 good strikers who can rotate - I personally don’t love 4-3-3 and don’t think we have the wide players for it

Martial didn’t play very well against PSG, So - instead of him, definitely.
Regardless of that game it would be him but really it’s a rotation at this point
