Rooney was amazing for years. From his debut to winning the champions league.

Okay towards the very end he was a bit unfit, carrying niflgglimv injuries etc but I believd he gave everything he could do.
 
He has the potential to become £100m + player over the next 2 years, I'd give him plenty of chances this season especially the expectations of winning a major silverware is relatively low
 
Will certainly be a number 9 in time. I suspect he’ll have a 20 goal season by 20 years old. From watching him as a 16 year old in the academy there was a clear polished ness to his game. He’s like nothing I’ve seen at United for many, many years - and probably the best teenage striker in the world I reckon.

It was clear that he wasn’t a ‘needs to develop his game’ young player in the academy. More a case of ‘once he gets comfortable at senior football’. But his game is already massively complete. He will of course still get better, but his talent is very rare.

He’s no winger though. He has skill and wing attributes, but they are, for me, not so extreme as his qualities that make him suited to the centre forward role. They are more supplementary, and a bonus that he can beat men - but his outstanding qualities are not searing pace and dribbling. As a centre forward though, he has everything.

If we can add Sancho next summer I think we’d finally have the pairing to take us back to where Rooney and Ronaldo put us in the coming years. Hopefully, Pogba is still around for that.
 
I don't want him to play in the wing, it took away the prime years of RVP and Henry's time in the ST position. It's too easy to say he is young and needs to learn to play in the wing position first, that didn't work out for Martial.

Centre halves are often brutal which I think is a large part of why young forwards often do their apprenticeship out wide. Also, in a one-striker system, teams may not want to place the main goalscoring burden on them yet.
 
He will push Rashford out a number 9 position. Rashford has too many blemishes as a striker, he's tendencies are more suited to wing play.
 
This young lad is a big reason why I'm getting really excited about the coming season.
If he's able to stay free from injuries we'll have a world class striker in a couple of years. Homegrown to boot.

Ronaldo made a fool of Rooney before we signed him. He ended up lashing out. Saf was sure, whether some fans were is irrelevant. Technically Rooney was always overrated in this country despite being an unbelievably good player, he wasn’t Pele.

Ronaldo was always better than Rooney in terms of ability.

On Greenwood he looks a real talent. I like the Giggs comparison, not in terms of style of play but what he could ultimately become for us.

You can argue that it helped RVP's and Henry's development though.
 
Mason is what people think Rashford is. Brilliant goal.
He has arrived.

Agreed. Greenwood sancho and either Rashford/martial, let them fight it out. What a sexy team. Gomes Behind them with Chong rotating :drool: sort the midfield and we are ready boys

Looks like we are about to extend De Gea, otherwise I’d have said that with Henderson too, in addition to AWB - we could well have a very good chunk of the England squad again.

I must admit that it always bothers me that we as a team have had quite a decent English presence in recent years, yet most of ours aren’t even good enough to get into the England squad.

This kid is going to be a super star. Maybe ten years ago behind rooney, Ronaldo, tevez and berbatov he might find playing time limited but surely not now. He is our shining light. What our academy is built for

Yeah that's the same as running rings around someone during a game where both players could put in a performance for their teams. Ronaldo ran the game. Rooney didn't like it but could do nothing about it. So lashed out. It was great to be there for that game. Ronaldo showed who had more ability for sure. It wasn't close.

John O'Shea megged figo. Doesn't mean he ran rings around him.

Comparing attackers for their defensive performance, one was playing for superior team and other for average to poor team.

I'm using a game, not an incident, where they were on opposing teams yes....I'd also use a lot of Ronaldos best performances even in his first season as evidence. Rooney might have had more of a mature head for team play but Ronaldos talent was far greater.

Your user name literally says you'll never agree, but that's fine you're entitled to your opinion...mine is proven to be correct anyway regardless of what people felt in the early days. Ronaldos talent was on another level.

Rooney was the superior footballer when they were younger regardless of who had more natural ability or developed better. He was more complete, he was more intelligent, he was more mature and he was more definitive.

Yes in that Rooney was a near complete player from around 18 (and arguably didn't progress much after that) whereas Ronnie took years to reach his peak. And while it's true that it was easy to see Ronaldo had huge potential, I don't think anyone who watched his debut season for us would have predicted his transformation into a line leading no 9. We were all expecting a pacy, flashy, winger (which he was of course).
 
A joy to watch.
I loved it when he skinned Skrinniar, I swear I could see steam coming out of his ears
