You're also underrating Sancho as he would be our best dribbler, and is already doing what he's doing at the age of 20. Just imagine him 2 years from now.

I want Greenwood and Sancho paired up.
I think that Sancho is incredible and agree that he would be our best dribbler. But Rashford (as of right now) is comfortably a better player IMO, who has been proving for years how valuable is to this team, and has scored so many goals, including against big teams and in very important matches. Also, he is just 18 months or so older than Sancho.

Honestly, as good as Sancho is, I am not sure is it worth to spend 120m to put Greenwood on the bench. Rashford is better than Sancho, as is Martial (IMO), so it is gonna be Sancho vs Greenwood (with Greenwood deputising for all positions).

Regardless what happens, he is fantastic. Our biggest talent coming from our academy I can ever remember. His finishing, in particular, is absolutely insane, there aren't many better finishersin football. He has a lot of areas to improve, and is a bit of a selfish player, but there aren't many (if any) better 18 years old players right there.
He is 18 and there will be a lot of games, so having options will be essential to our progression and his not to put to much pressure on him. Martial and Rashford having a shit game for example it wouldn't hurt us to be capable to put Greenwood or Sancho on instead, we need a RW..

He seems to me much more talented than Rashford at his age. However, I dont echo people saying that because of him, it may be pointless to buy Sancho. We play what? 50+ games per year. We need four first class players with James and Ighalo for special occasions. We also have to take into consideration that Sancho, Greenwood and Rashford (and perhaps Martial too) are far from the final product, so they will have many dips into form. This is how you win the PL and the CL.

Remember, we used to have Cole, Yorke, OGS and Teddy Sheringham fighting for 2 spots.

Not since young Rooney cutting in from the left has there been that sense that when 'that player' gets into 'that spot' he will score every time. Greenwood loves to pin his defender around the corner of the box. Shoot early, hard and accurate, around or through the legs. Very hard to save if you put it on target.

Having both Sancho & Greenwood would be amazing. United fans are the only ones I ever see saying stuff like not sure it would be worth spending xyz on a top rate player/talent because we already have abc player.

Also, Rashford being better than Sancho is debatable.
Will be amazing if we do sign Sancho. We can play some scintillating football against the teams that park the bus against us.

That pass to Bruno is as good as it gets, absolute perfection. Honestly didn`t know he had that in him!

If Greenwood scores in most of the games we play now, do we bench him for Sancho or do we give him next season to develop and go for Sancho the following summer if he doesn't smash it next year? What a player.

We buy Sancho and finally have 4 decent players to compete for 3 attacking spots.

That gives us the option to rotate without a massive drop in quality and to make sure none of our attackers ever get complacent. Add Ighalo to the mix and even better.

Is having Aguero, Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling and Sane a problem at Manchester City?

If course not. We might finally have those sorts of quality options soon.

10 years ago, the press would have gone apeshit head over heels for someone like him... but we live in an era seemingly where English youngsters are pretty lucrative to even the best clubs and are in no short supply.

Therefore I'm glad he's kinda gone under the radar of the press, and can quietly work away without having the hype train speeding alongside him.

It's ridiculous. We play about 60 games a season. Rotating the front 3 of Rashford, Martial, Greenwood and Sancho and they can still all have 45 starts then you have the inevitable injuries, fatigue and loss of form to contend with aswell.

Yeah, we really need to put an end to one player per position in our mindset.
I really hate it, the best ran clubs always look to add quality on quality and strength on strength.

Only with us does it always have to boil down to 'well we already have A, we don't need B' :wenger:

Bayern just added Leroy Sane to the highest scoring attack in Europe this season ffs and they're not light on talented young wingers...

As of right now, Rashford is comfortably better than Sancho and Greenwood. People at times forget how good he was before his injury, he had 19 goals playing from the wing with a midfield that had no creativity, and for some parts of the season was single-handed carrying us. Rashford is a fantastic player who has been proving himself since his debut.

I think that Greenwood might be even better long term, but make no mistake, Rashford right now is one of our best players and we are lucky to have both him and Mason coming out of our academy.

That's one opinion, but I put Sancho above Rashford and I think in the same position as him he would have had an even better season, along with the team. I hope he does come because some are (whether it's valid or not) discounting his season being in the Bundesliga, but I really hope he gets to show he'll be just as good in the Premier League. I think Rashford, Martial, and Greenwood could use the competition, you can't just stay with those three if you're aiming to compete on all fronts.

This./

Tony is showing more determination since the break but Greenwood looks hungry. Those drifting performances won’t be tolerated if a Sancho is an option.

How? Rashford is the form player plus Mason is still young even touchwood that front three is out of form. Mason would still be in the bench waiting to pounce.

Rashford is just out of form, which sets tongues wagging. I agree with you.

Having said that, we should still get Sancho, he'd be different to what our current attackers offer and can at minimum, offer competition to multiple spots in the team.

I’m naive but it does make me wonder why we’re thinking of Sancho.

He was excellent tonight.

I am worried about how quickly people are forgetting just how unstoppable Rashford was right before he got injured. And that was in a still very dysfunctional team, he was doing a lot of both the creating and the scoring himself.

Of course he is still rusty. He's played four games after a lay-off of five and a half months. But it's not even as if he's playing badly. His playmaking has been excellent, as evidenced by the assists against Sheffield and a whole host of key passes since the return of football. It's actually been nice to have the opportunity to appreciate just how good a passer of the ball he is, callback to the days when he was tiny and not especially fast and was a crafty playmaker.

It's just his forward play that needs to get back into gear, and it will.

I’m saying having those 4 players for the 3 positions would be great but I agreed that I think Martial may be the guy to miss out cause I think Rashford is nailing down the LW & Greenwood is looking like he’s ready for some time at Striker.

It’s all conjecture though, I just hope we have the 4 to choose from.

Feel the heat, Greenwood can score with both feet

Hope Ole challenges him to get to 10 goals, friendly thing like Sir Alex and Ronaldo used to have.

93% passing accuracy today.

5 long balls attempted, 5 long balls completed.

1 goal, 1 assist.

2 successful dribbles - more than anybody else on the pitch.

Since the start of the season, he's averaged a goal or assist every 100 minutes in the league/Europe.

He's fecking incredible. But he's also a kid, so he spends more time on the periphery of the game than you'd hope. But that will get better. When he actually managed to get into the match today, I thought he was the most impressive player we had. And I'm including Bruno in that.

I think he meant PL goals. He is on 6 so not that far away.
I see. Personally, I only look at goals/assists in all competitions, don’t distinguish between PL goals, cup goals or European competition goals - all are important

Good post, agreed. Greenwood and Rashford will be important players for the next decade. You can’t buy that loyalty and dedication you get from successful homegrown players. Rashford will score very soon, and then it’ll be full throttle. There were already posters claiming Greenwood had been shit up until this game. Go figure!

I agree but an argument FOR getting Sancho is we have potentially four world class talents that can all play in any of the front three positions. One of them will HAVE to miss out every week and that is only going to be good long term because everyone will want to keep their place. We can’t say “oh we don’t want Rashford or Martial benched” because that’s exactly what we do want if they aren’t performing.

so excited for our current front three and the potential of Sancho to make an unbelievable front four.

And imagine the few times when all 4 will be on the pitch attacking

Sancho can play Bruno role as well so there will be plenty of chances for Greenwood.

league goals
All the goals (in competitive matches) are equally important.
For some average teams perhaps not, but we actually have a chance to win two cups this year. And winning a cup is... well, it’s a piece of history, forever. Let alone the fact that Europa League is a back door to CL

Remember when some people slammed Ole and called him delusional for selling Lukaku and not replacing him so he could bring an 18 year old through :D
