Martial's partner gives birth and the resultant hell from two warring factions

The notion that Jose wants to sell him to raise funds for a new signing tickles me.

I mean we have only flipping spent 40 or so million this summer. Why would Jose be held back by before selling Martial?

Sad if he goes, hope we don't regret or at best stick a buy back clause.

that "selling Martial would be a personal victory for Mourinho" line in the MEN article probably irks me more than it should.

Words and actions are very different things. If you visibly can’t see how limited our attacking play is, then again, nothing to discuss.

It's quite obvious you can't grasp some basic things or have a distorted view of the way players are coached.

Playing with bravery and freedom has virtually no relevance to how you look in attack. If anything, with the emergence of positional coaches like Guardiola, Tuchel and Sarri it is actually the opposite.

The most inventive attacks in the last 10 years are from coaches that are extremely restrictive of their attackers and do not want them to be brave or free. They want them to stick to their position to maintain a specific shape and open up spaces.

It's very much common sense, when your attack is organized and has coached patterns of play that it will be more effective (like every other skill in the world). There is clear evidence that our players have too much freedom, and are allowed to improvise too much instead of making the set play for a predicted situation.

We have a bloated squad on high wages. We can't just keep adding without cutting down

I find that not too believable. The way Jose almost sobbed about missing his daughters graduation last week - I’m sure it isn’t ideal to leave the set-up but birth of a child is birth of a child!

He's not good enough. If he wants to go, sell him. Too many people on here think he's Kylian Mbappe mk II waiting to happen.

Almost every 1 year option is being triggered. We're having a hard job shifting players, but still not letting anyone leave for free.

Willian for Martial plus Chelsea pays us 20m (mainly because of how young Martial is) and the deal is done. Both teams improve on the areas where they need improving but both teams also lose a very good player. Everyone is a winner...

No, we’re not ending up as winners with this one and it doesn’t make sense. We know what we get in Willian for three years, so does Chelsea - a good but definitely not great footballer. We have no idea how good Martial will become and he is much, much younger. We know he is struggling, but we’ve seen ridiculous moments at an early age. 20M is nothing

This. Selling young players and replacing them with old players is madness.

Somehow think this tweet is a load of balls. Can’t see why Jose would be angry about someone going to the birth of their child and if he actually is then he is a bit of a Cnut, but in all honesty I think Jose would be fine with it, if not approve. Maybe the 2nd part is true, but also makes sense.

In a market where most players are £50m+ I wouldn't be letting anyone go for free either!

The collective value of stretching out all these extra years is massive.

The problem is we often buy high, sell low.

Maguire is a perfect example. A small upgrade on Jones and yet we'd likely have to spend £65m and then be lucky to recoup £20m for Jones.

Mourinho seems to be improving the sale prices.

I guess part of the problem is we way over pay on salaries. We don't need to be doubling salaries all the time!

It will be good for all parties when Martial leaves. He might go on to be an excellent player somewhere else but it's not going to happen here and that's all I care about. Lost a lot of respect for him after he allowed his agent to put him on the market publicly.

How fecking stupid is to criticize Martial’s goal output since the turn of the year and take it as some reason to justify Jose’s mishandling of the situation. How many has Alexis scored in how many minutes? What about Lingard? What about Rashford? Even Lukaku?

We’ve been pathetic as a whole. Lingard scores two fecking goals in the PL in 2018, one of which was on January 1st, and according to many he has been in great form.

The best part will be when half this forum leaves to support whatever team he goes to play for.

I'm guessing the birth of his child was unfortunately brought forward so unplanned otherwise if it's gone full term, this must have been planned before they set of on tour. What will be interesting is if he comes back if everything is ok with mother and baby. We've already seen the England player leave during the WC and then return. I wonder if the timing just suits everyone?

He's given players at the World Cup extra holidays, yet some on here actually believe for a second he'd be upset if a player left for the birth of their child.

I doubt anyone is upset that he's left for the birth of his son, that would be expected, it's most likely the way he's left. Told team mates he isn't coming back and general lack of regard for the club will rightly piss Mourinho off. On top of that, especially if he's just jumped on a plane after training one day and not bothered to tell Jose he was off.

If he's having a kid he should absolutely be able to go be at the birth. He's a f*cking human being. United should pay for his ticket too!

What, he's supposed to sit on the bench wondering how it's going? Worried for the life of both the mother and his child to be? Oh and focus on stretching and then getting out there to play? What is wrong with people?!?!?

Just want to be clear, IF this is true that Martial has forced his way out to go back home without permission, it is utterly unacceptable, correct?

Nah I'm sure United would be thrilled about a player rebeling.

Either way this story is made up Bs surely. Mou really be done with him but you d have to be one major asshole and basically hate someone s guts to not let someone attend the birth of their child. Not buying it.

So true, there's only space at United for the toppest of reds, like you

You do know that there are non united fans that defend him on here?

He actually has a cult following, where people wish he leaves and becomes world class elsewhere. They are actively wanting something to happen that will hurt the club.

huh, based on?

There's so many legitimate things to slag Mourinho off for that making up nonsense like he's furious Martial left to attend the birth of his child really isn't necessary, but that's never stopped the media before, has it?

The fact it seems extremely unlikely for the club to not allow a player to be at the birth of their child?
or, say at the graduation of their daughter....

but in all seriousness, so you have an opinion...hmm let's see what happened, bit rose tinted to just call a Times article (and many others from ESPN, etc) as 'BS'

The fact Martial is the hottest talking topic of Man United weeks before the season has started sums up why I have very little time for him. Mythical that he's a 'quiet nice guy just keeping his head down and capitalising on his chances'.
