Goal per minute is a tough one though @CM10, I mean, I'd wager Morata looks like he's had a better season that either Lukaku or Firminho if going from gpm.

Presumably the purpose of signing a player like Willian (who turns 30 this summer) is to fast-track us to a league title, but can that even be argued when 1) he isn't even outperforming Martial currently and 2) we're already so far behind City?
Granted, he is a better fit for Mourinho's system than Martial but how significant a factor is that really? Is it worth sacrificing a player who should be at the forefront of United for the next few seasons to accommodate that change?
If martial turned down a contract because he feels he's not loved enough rest assured he wont stay long with us when madrid comes knocking. And that's if he made it

I'd love for us to a diamond with two strikers up top. Plenty of games for Rashford and Martial in their preferred positions. Sanchez in the hole creating havok and chances.
We'd need new fullbacks though and I'd argue we need that regardless.

A lot of people here have the opinion that dribbling is all Martial does whereas Willian is touted to be a brilliant player. Willian has just about the same number of goals and assists as Martial does while playing something like 300 minutes more(in premier league) and Willian plays in a setup where he is protected by wingbacks, 2 central midfielders(2.5 IMO Kante really is more than one midfielder) and three central defenders.
I think irrespective of his wishes, we'll keep him for this coming season and if he's still pissed off or unable to break through, we'll let him leave on a reduced fee - a talent of Martial's level needs every possible opportunity of extraction and if it doesn't work out we can at least say we've tried. But to let him go when he's barely had a sniff and been marginalised through little fault of his own would be a bitter pill to swallow.
So? Madrid aren't going to find it easy to prize a player from us. Even if they did, they'd pay us a feck tonne.

True. But the potential pay off with Martial is enormous. He's most likely going to be a vastly superior football than William. He's simply got a lot more natural talent in him. And William isn't good enough to make the trade off worth it.
If Willian was 24-26 it might be worth it.
I still wouldn't go for that trade as I personally think Martial isn't is far off from being a terrific player. But yes you could have made that argument in that scenario. He's nearly 30 though.
If we were trading Martial, you'd want a better player but one who still has years ahead of him.
Willian is a better player as is Bale but they would be terrible deals because in a couple of years,we'd be looking at £100m+ replacements.
A player with the profile of Dybala makes the most sense. Better than Martial and still only 24/25.

I really want him to stay and I bet he will. The biggest difference with him and a lot of type attacking talents is his decision making in the box or close to it. It really shows when he has played for United in 'big' games. I think he can get better but he can really frustrate me at times.
I think we pay bigger wages than Juve and also the Prem is a better league, but that's it.
I honestly don't know how you can say he's destined to become one of the best in the world because he hasn't shown that. Its more wishful thinking ?

Anyone who ever lead a group of subordinate will know that teamwork is valued greatly.

He should be very careful with his next move. With united he's seen as bags of potential. At any other club he'll be seen as top player bought for big fee and he has to deliver results from day 1. He has no young player cushion to hide from.
Yes, I feel folks wanting him to stay are the same folks who dislike the pragmatic approach we employ to most of our matches under Mourinho. The bottomline is that Jose cannot accommodate a player who take as many risks as Martial with a low end-product. To get his end-product high, you need to consistently play him and in a way build the squad around him to cover up the space he leaves behind once he loses the ball.
Jose is not going to have that at all and Martial definitely is not looking to develop himself into a Jose type player. So unless Jose leaves this summer, Martial will be gone.

Never heard of him before, but I can't imagine he would be writing for goal if he was.

Sort of get the impression Mourinho doesn't see him as irreplaceable but doesn't plan on next season without him in the squad. He's a rotational option just like Rashford and Lingard until they improve. He's also open to selling him if the offer is too good to turn down.

Just look at Sterling ffs.. he's not a 20 goal player but he scored 20+ this season. That man can't even shoot!

We’ve been lucky this season in that Lukaku has stayed fit, we’re really short of strikers, it would be nice to see Martial get a chance upfront.

Ince, Hughes, Kanchelskis, Beckham, Stam were all moved on and I was gutted at the time but no one is bigger than the club or ever will be and it most definitely includes Anthony Martial if he's not prepared to put in the hard yards!!
Unless Mourinho is willing to move away from the dates ‘Big #9’ then nothing will change regardless. Likely Lukaku will return when fit, with the boss citing things ‘other than goals’ as a broad justification.
