Totally agree he has things in his game that can’t really be measured. My thinking is he isn’t the kind of guy that would take us on leaps and bounds to where people think he would. He’d be a very solid buy and if it was say a straight cash buy of say 35mil i’d Be all for it even tho we have a guy who excelled in that position at other clubs (Sanchez) when I said he is like Lingard I meant in that he buzzes about quite a lot, he’ll get himself in to positions. One problem I see with our team is people not making those passes even tho people have made the run and offered the pass. So if he comes across the same thing if he comes here then he has become neutered. He is far better than Lingard. I used to argue how average Willian is going by his productivity which before this season was as good as Young and Young played as fullback for years.
I can easily say I was very much wrong. Willian is superb player and Conte had made a big mistake not playing him regularly. Even Hazard said how much he likes to play alongside Willian.
For me Willian's impact cannot be measured on stats alone, he has superb acceleration, very good shot from outside the box and he is very good dribbler. The way he shits the ball and crosses in one move just very good and catches so many defenders off guard.
He is also right winger and we don't have any. If we have a chance, we should sign Willian without doubt, not by exchanging Martial though. At the moment Willian is better but Martial will be better when he reaches peak and Willian will be 30 at the start of the next season. So if we can buy him for cash alone then we should. His work rate is very impressive and very much suited for counter attacking football.
Weirdly and I’m quite surprised at this Martial this season has made more tackles and blocks than William.
I think one of the good things William gives is that he just runs around a lot like Lingard and hopefully that would create space and opportunities for others however because of this he also occasionally like Lingard crowds space and closes off space for others. His crossing for me isn’t great but you’re right he will deliver quickly which I suppose by itself might transform our team as as far as I can see the only one willing to try such a thing in our team is Herrera.
