Martial | Di Marzio thinks he will stay

Impossible for us to tell from the outside. This entire thread is predicated on the notion that the RMC piece is accurate. If it isn't, then we may well have nothing to worry about.
From what I've heard, nothings been rejected as nothings been formally offered. He has shown willingness to enter into contracts talks but has asked for clarification of his role.

This is why I really do not understand WTF is going on here. Logic surely dictates you play the experienced RW in the RW rather than the player who has never shown any indication of being able to do well there.

Worth a go I think. Although Lukaku seems to quite like drifting to that right-hand side and getting on his left foot - perhaps Jose thinks he and Sanchez will get in each other's way if the latter is deployed on the right. Total guesswork.

The Bayern crew who are keen on Martial. If he does go I'd take a Douglas Costa plus cash please :D

Strange yes, as that would surely be the same issue with Martial and Lukaku.

That would certainly be preferable to Bouhafsi's interpretation of the current situation.

Yes if Martial was playing on the right, but perhaps not Lingard/Mata, who tend to play a little deeper. It seems to be the latter two players who are favoured on that right side at the moment.

Truth to be told he was treated like shit here. It kind of reminds me of Tevez. I never had any problem with him going to City? i mean i would liked for him to stay but after SAF signed Berba and frozen Tevez out, giving him much more menial role, who can blame him?
The situation is very similar, Jose clearly stated to Martial that the best he can do is a back-up. Rashford is our player, i mean United-born and that will always give him a bit more preference, he is also younger. Though papers say that even he could be out, i don't believe it, but where is smoke as they say...
But for Martial, who is going to be 23 soon, playing regularly, with manager's and team's trust is essential.

In a way i think it's very sad. He could really be a top player, a Golden Ball type one. For example Lukaku might score more, might do well etc, but i doubt he will ever be a player who can be considered in a top 3 players in the world. Simply he is not that kind of player, he is more like one-dimensional. But Martial in theory at least could.

Yes I was referring to the first 2/3 games Sanchez and Martial played together.

Martial's a great talent but you'd think we're losing a clear potential Ballon d'Or winner, he's not even top 3 most talented players for France (Mbappe, Dembele, Lemar).

Exactly.

Let’s focus on Mata for a minute. The one player Jose wanted to sell supposedly before he even arrived. The one that was on his way out when Mikhi signed. Yet he has won myriad starts and earned a contract extension. You’re telling me hard work and attitude doesn’t pay off?
The only reason Mata is even playing is because we don't have one half decent right winger and Miki was utter crap. Mata will be sold off the moment we sign a right sided attacker.

It looks like the primary position for Alexis will be LW at United.

For Martial that means if he has the patience, accept that and be content with secondary minutes just as Rashford has been doing and continues to do and keep on developing and learning behind a world class player. If he doesn’t have the patience and thinks he’s worthy of more minutes, he either has to try converting to RW or a move away from the club. If he’s not willing to try playing RW, then goodbye it will be.

I don’t get why Sanchez doesn’t just player there since he’s played there quite a bit over his career and wouldn’t it be easier/more efficient for him to play there and leave Martial on the left than the other way around? Sort of disappointed in that sense since that’s what I hoped for when we got Sanchez. But since that isn’t what happened and life goes on, if Martial wants more minutes and wants to play LW, then I’m all for selling him and using that money ONLY IF there is a world class RWer we can substitute for who can help us right away.

Switch RW and LW in your post and then it makes sense.

Tony posted this referring to the clash in Bernabeu last night. At this sensitive moment, seems he is aiming for Juve whether it is the revelation of his dream destination or just one of his moves to put pressure on us in negotiating contract terms. Imagine front three Costa - Martial - Dybala, it's gonna be beautiful to watch.

If he really tends to move on, the clubs holding river cards will be at an advantage. Juve have Alex Sandro meanwhile Toby Alderweireld is Spurs's and Willian at Chelsea- some of our targets. There is also a possibility Juve or Bayern will sneak in with their typical loan with option to buy offer.

In the market where Alex Oxlade Chamberlain could worth 40m pounds, i cant see the club will accept to let Martial go if not taking back 40-50m. I would rather sell him abroad but i will be pleased if it ends up a straight swap of him and Eric Dier

Err...what?

A Jose's old target, proved in Premier League, young, versatile, someone ticks all the boxes in our fragile midfield, evaluated price at 40-50m. Tbh i dont see why not

He plays pretty much the same role as Matic doesn't he? I don't think he's even the kind of midfielder we're looking for, let alone whether he'd be fair value for Martial.

He is rightfully upset, I don't blame him at all. He was in great form before Sanchez arrival and as a reward, he gets shifted to the right and later we bench him.
I support Mourinho and will continue to do so, but he played this one really bad.

I see you're shying away from calling a spade a spade as you are a true gentleman Akshay, I'll do it for you, Dier is simply shite.

Glaston is triggered somewhere. Wait for Daddy want want want rant.

Don’t really care if he goes, tbh.

We have Sanchez for the present and Rashford for the future. It will open up space for a RW and that’s something we desperately need.

The big debate is whether we want him to stay or not, not whether he wants to stay. Despite all his obvious talents, we are still waiting for him to really consistently deliver. He’ll probably have a great career elsewhere but we don’t have any more time to wait for him.

I don’t think Mourinho intentionally dislikes him. I just think that when the opportunity to sign someone like Alexis comes along, it’s negligible to not take it. To sign a quality proven attacker in the current game is almost impossible. In the past few seasons, have any of the big teams actually been able to buy a quality proven attacker (the only one I can think of are PSG with Neymar)?

Aubameyang to Arsenal
Higuain to Juve
Ibra and Lukaku to us
Bernardo Silva to City
Mane and Salah to Liverpool
Coutinho to Barce
Costa to Atletico

Imo i see him bringing aggressiveness and agility for us which is a final missing piece in our midfield three alongside Matic and Pogba. I also cant see Levy lets him go with the price lower than 40-50m which is also Martial's estimated price. And Pochettino admitted himself in his autobiography that Jose once flirted with Dier, so there's a real interest.

But it's okay anyway. As i said in my post, Dier is not the best scenario i expect. Sending Martial abroad where his progress affects us at least as possible is the ideal. He plus cash for Verratti is the best deal imo

We spent nearly £50 millions for him so if he goes he'll cost a bomb to any club. That fact alone basically limits the club options for his next destination (only PSG, Real could afford that) And he still has 2 years contract with us, unless he goes on 1 year strike to force the club to sell him cheap (which will only damage his career & reputation amongst the fan) i can see Martial going nowhere.

Or, like about 1 million other people on twitter last night... he just thought it was a cracking game of football

Two things - he's not a better striker than Higauin at the moment. Secondly, maybe he just enjoyed the game?

Doesn’t mean anything. Rashford posted something about Ronaldo’s goal after the first leg. Is he planning to join RM as well?
