What an earth has Schneiderlin done for us to have you come to this conclusion?

At United not a lot, but at least he has only had one crap season rather than three.

But at least Schneiderlin is actually a box to box midfielder (unlike Felliani who if in the team should be playing more advanced) and has proven previously that he can be one of the best in the league at this role.

As one of his biggest critics, I have to give credit for his performance today. Not man of the match worthy like some here suggested, but he did well breaking up play and made his presence noted. What he needs now is consistency because many average midfielders can have a good game.

Schneiderlin hasnt got the physicality that Fellaini has. Actually he's a bit of a wuss. I don't think Schneiderlin would have been anywhere near as effective as Fellaini was today. Admittedly he also has a lot to prove after being dog shit for 3 years but today was a good start and he will definitely play against saints now...

Played well i thought, still dont love him in central midfield but if he can replicate this performance everytime he plays in there then im happy for him to be an option in there for games like today.

Played well, and defended smartly. Very clean game as well, don't remember any bad challenges or lazy fouls either.

Hats off. As well as he's played for us. Himself and Mou might be a good match.

Very impressive performance from him. Let's see if he can do this consistently.

76 passes, 98.7% pass completion, 6 tackles, 1 interception. He did OK.
okay is just very weak compliment for these numbers, we conceded after an individual action other than that we dominated the whole game in midfield with Herrera dictating and Fellaini doing the hard work.. I gave him 7/10 but he'd probably deserve 7.5

Been saying since we signed him that defensive midfield is his best position due to his physicality. This trying to play him up front and lumping it up to him is boll*cks.

It was a deliberate understatement.

2 matches and an average rating of 5.0. Yeah the Caf is a joke sometimes.

I still thought that he slowed down our play massively. Definitely don't agree with the MOTM claims but he had a quality game - still, not even close to controlling the game from midfield, but we probably don't have anyone who can do it right now with Carrick's and Schweiny's decline, even Pogba

This - I don't normally have anything good to say about Fellaini but I thought he was pretty good today. Him and Herrera formed a pretty good partnership, I'd like to see what those two can do with Pogba rather than Rooney.

Typified the overall performance - solid. Not sure that we're seeing some new player today as others have said. This just looks like typical in-form Fellaini when he's being played as a footballer instead of a basketball hoop to me. Mind you something that we didn't see much of last season.

I think this might have been his best game for us. Maybe he has had better games individually, but I felt for the first time he was good and also a natural, maybe even an integral part of our performance. Never been a fan of the player, but it's obvious all the abuse got to him. Very happy for Fellaini today!

He was incredible again at breaking up play and he was a good presence going forward as well.

Superb game from Fellaini.

Not seeing this wonderful performance others are talking about. He looked decent but unspectacular and his presence increased the workload for teammates. Stats are good but he was still Fellaini.

I thought he was our best player today along with Bailly.

A proper #6 like Carrick or Alonso or Busquets, who can do the defensive cover but actually use the ball with a great range of passing to control the game.
I agree that Fellaini isn't normally the man for this, but I think he carried out his duties very well today. Not confident he can keep it up, but would be great if he could.

Are we seeing a case of Jose bringing out the best in players? I hope so. Keep up the good work Fellaini

His work rate was also top notch. He never stopped running and whenever they had the ball, he was behind it.

I've said he can't make it as one of the deep two midfielders in a 4-2-3-1, but he played well there today. Granted it was against Bournemouth, he put a good shift in and balanced discipline with being combative.

He closed players down, won the ball a lot, played simple passes and made things difficult for the opposition. Asking more than that of him would be foolish.

He's going to be a solid squad player this year. I think he will accept that and continue to work hard when put on. He's probably a good option against lower half opponents and will be needed over the campaign. There's a lot of football to come.

That was seriously impressive. Best performance I've seen from him in a midfield role.

Best since Everton days anyway. I remember him being superb for them as a CM in the opening game of the season he signed for United. I'd always thought that was how we'd use him and didn't like it when he was played as a 10. I remember @SilentWitness talking up his CM performances for Everton but United fans only remembering how he was used against us, which was a fairly specialised role.

Interesting comments from the boss today. He loves big, strong, nasty footballers and Fellaini can play a bit too. I suspect his critics better get used to seeing him in our team, whether they like it or not.

I thought that was his best overall performance for us.

Maybe it's due to Mourinho organizing us better, but he wasn't overrun and won the ball back numerous times today, which he's not really done when played in midfield before.

Alongside Herrera that was as composed an away match as I've seen from us in a long, long time.

I'm quite intrigued as to how we'll line up when Pogba's coming into the side.

Love him when he plays well. He's a big mean fecker who is easy to dislike when he's rotten but equally lovable when he does a job for you. He's a good spare weapon for us if he can keep up that kind of performance. Hope Mourinho shows the last 3 years were shit managers not knowing what to do with him, more than just Fellaini himself.

Yeh. I suggested earlier that the like of Valencia and Fellaini would be favored heavily by Mou. Fellaini's previous performance before the last 2 managers had shown that there was a very decent footballer in him.

Really good today, I'll happily eat my words.

Responsible, quick in the tackle and moved the ball really well for a change.

Still would like more movement in offering himself in the middle but hard to argue with that performance, hope it continues if he is to stay there.

@Rood

Fair dos mate - looks like Jose rates him

I remember a lot of posts in this thread a couple of months ago from people who thought he would be first out of the door in the new regime, but then the haters said the same when LvG first came !
