No the stupid thing is that nowadays people seem to be the best way of playing football is "technical" passing players and that anyone who doesn't fit into that mould is disregarded. Hence players like Wilshere and Kagawa getting comically overrated and players like Felliani and others get mocked.

Oh? Which way of football is better than technical football?

Strange comment if you mean it the way it comes across. Would you really want to see a United team that doesn't focus on technical ability?

He scored a header, he's fantastic again. Anyone that doesn't see a headed goal as proof of a players ability is an idiot who should be pointed and laughed at :wenger:

Whereas posting a gif of a footballer running the ball out of play, something that happens god knows how many times a season, is what?

He is a good player, just not good enough to play CM for one of the best teams in the world. As an AM/box to box player he showed many times that he clearly is good, but he lacks quickness/technique for us.

If we play 3-5-2, he'll be very good as the deepest lying midfielder, especially seeing as how none of our center backs are aerially dominant like Vidic used to be. We'd just need the other two to be very mobile and good on the ball.

No he wouldn't, his passing is poor at best. 5 yards is his maximum. We need finesse, not players who will do nothing but spoil the opponent. Which, by the way, Fellaini is not good at. For someone as tall as him he doesn't win headers well, he's easily out-muscled and he doesn't tackle.

How often do top class players get the ball on the edge of their own area and just run with it until they fall over and the ball goes for a throw?

Lucky he's with us.

Give the guy some credit...he isn't going to distribute the ball like kroos etc. He is limited, but he has his strengths. Not as useless as some of you always seem to suggest.

Don't answer a question with a question. It's nice that you can be pleased when one of our players does something positive for their National team in the World Cup.

Oh I agree, but we have many midfielders who we should be looking to shift first then Fellaini. This is what people who want him sold can't seem to comprehend. We'll be getting at most two central midfielders this summer (maybe one), and I only trust Carrick more than I trust Fellaini from the current lot. He has a role to play here next season.

Meh, we'll see what Van Gaal makes of him. No one in a United shirt barring De Gea and Januzaj covered themselves in glory last season, could be a fine player under Van Gaal.

He does have his strengths, he's very good in the air, and he has phenomenal chest control. But he has no strengths that are suited to be a midfielder at Manchester United, or any other top team. He'd obviously thrive at a team that were set up to play directly to his strengths, just like at Everton.

Played well today because he was in his best position, in that role when the ball is crossed in or lumped forward to him he is a good player, he is really a forward rather than a midfield player and that is the big problem. As a box to box or holding player he is very ordinary and is never going too be good enough to play regularly in that position, he will find it hard to get games ahead of jones, carrick and Cleverley let alone any new arrivals.

This thread is fun when you ignore people like Sam who constantly come here talking shit.

It's really fun. And reasonable at times.

Another one who didn't actually watch the game then.

I don't get why some people can't wait to slaughter our players.

He is an adequate enough passer for a defensive midfield role and his one saving grace in that position is winning headers inbetween midfield and defense.

What shit have I spoken?...Because I don't think Fellani is good? Brilliant.

Slaughtered.

Cant even score a goal in the world cup without people having a go at him

I am pretty sure all the people who kept on slagging his dismal play never mentioned anything about his 'phenomenal chest control' while writing about it.
Yes he should never be a midfielder , especially in a two man midfield. You don't expect players to perform at a level playing out of position. Confidence is also an issue along with injuries.

I remember most world cups from which United players have come back as national villains or have been anonymous. So when a United player does well for his team in the world cup, I enjoy it. Wish others would do the same instead of repeating the things that have been repeated since the last 12 months.

Hope I never have to see him pull on a United shirt ever again.

I'm glad he scored the goal and I hope it drums up some interest and we get a decent bid. It'll be nowhere near what we paid but I just want rid. He's simply not good enough for United.

I think Cleverley will find it easier to adapt to Van Gaals philosophy than Fellaini. All we need is one 1 midfielder, without European football. Cleverley/X/Carrick and in January get Strootman. I just can't see Fellaini playing well under Van Gaal.

Not sure what you mean but that, I did watch the game, he played behind the striker and de bruyne dropped back into midfield, maybe you should re-watch it.

Exactly, there is nothing wrong with saying that IMO, he is what he is and he's not suited to being a Manchester Untied CM, but he can do a job at a club set up to utilize what he brings as a forward.

As I saw he was playing box to box, got all over the pitch.

just to prove what his capable of in the right system and the right teammates

Van Gaal will turn him into Lothar Matthaus like he turned Vlaar into Nesta..

not really but fair play to the lad. Far more comfortable and confident playing for his country.
