He was never brilliant but how did he turn so shit all of a sudden? He had been known to torment Utd when he was at Everton. It just beggars belief.

Injuries + lack of confidence + being the symbol for the worst peroxide at our club since the late 80's.

He has had a pretty bad year, he needs to have a good world cup, a good pre season and bust his balls off for us next season.

Can't remember a worse "big signing" in all my time following United, which is ~35 years.

Alan Brazil & Peter Davernport if you wish to go back a few decades. Big money at the time & pretty fecking awful. To be honest people are stuck on the fee, he isn't really a big signing, had he cost 15 mill there be far less expectation. But the club got fleeced.
Have to say many opinions on here we're polorised against him & many came across as wanting him to fail. I think he has the potential to be a good squad player here, but whether that ever come to be is very debatable. Lad got an assist & was involved in second goal & is being pulled to bits for the positive impact he had on the game, not his overal performance but the actual parts where he had a positive impact on the game. He's never going to win with some of the fans, no matter what he does. I find that very sad!

Dunno about that. I think if he came in and set the place alight the fans would love him. As it is ....well we all know how his 1st year turned out.

The man is a pathetic turd of a professional footballer. Fellaini had a few solid games as target man for Everton but he never did enough to justify being a United man. He must have an amazing agent.

Source? Squaka, ESPN and whoscored have him on 2 assists...against Shakhtar and today

Transfermarkt as I've said if you actually bothered to read rest of the posts I've written meanwhile.

People will make shit up in order to downgrade his role though, can't question their stubbornness in doing so. As many assists as Kagawa this season.

Fantasy Premier League counted 2 assists for him yesterday.

For anyone wondering about the rationale for playing him up top:

Giggs: "I wanted to play Marouane Fellaini up with him [Wilson] to add a bit of presence and take the pressure off him a little bit. It worked well, they linked up for the first goal and it was great to see James score the two goals."

I seriously hope it was a case of putting him in the shop window for teams like West Ham. Sam Allardyce would buzz over the knock-down fest him and Carroll could create.

Yeah hopefully we could get around 15mil back for him from a team like West Ham.

I do think he'd look better with a different manager and playing as a DM, but my god has he looked bad at times this season.

Hard not to see the argument for flogging him off to a Russian side for 15 million.

I think Fellaini might be best sold abroad, since his Belgium status is impressive, and he won't want to play for West Ham or a relegation-threatened team like that.

Seems like everyone would be better off with him at a top Russian or Turkish side, or a team looking to spend, like Wolfsburg or Monaco. Inter cross the ball the most in Serie A. Maybe they'd take him as a 10.

I disagree completely, the few matches and halves he played well, Marouane got the recognition he deserves. If he plays well then he'll get praised, it really is that simple. Overall he's been a disappointing 8/20 all season.

I was actually quite excited when he was signed, but god did he metamorphose into the weakest "big man" we have ever witnessed in football. Can't win a tackle or keep the ball for that matter. Sure he elbows people in the face, with an occasional stamp to remind us of his Everton days...

BTW, Peter Davenport scored an 86th minute winner against the scousers, which is a lot more than "being involved in a goal" by actually missing a 1 on 1.

Made more tackles than any other United player. 95% pass completion and got an assist. He could have had a couple of goals too but seems to be lacking in confidence in front of goal. He has those lazy moments though, where he just gives up, annoying.

Pffft... Don't ruin all this hating with your silly stats. We don't want reality getting in the way of all our spite...

The signing of this guy just sums up Moyes really and I feel sorry for Fellaini. He has never been good enough to make a difference at the club and at the time I said the pursuit of him & Baines showed a distinct lack of ambition. He probably had one of his better games last night but I'm not sure what we will do with him long term.

From giving someone like Ronaldo a free role a few years ago to giving Fellaini a free role! The new era really can't start soon enough. My eyes and brain hurt seeing Kagawa, who is at least 20 levels better and actually a footballer, and an intelligent and technically gifted one, playing behind Fellaini, even in such a meaningless game.

Thought he was so average yesterday. He might have had a good pass percentage but that doesn't say anything about the quality of the passes.

He basically showed his worth in the first goal where he won the header and set up the first goal, and even that has been something he's been quite poor at this season though hard to say how much was due to his wrist injury in fairness.

But otherwise he's just not good enough to play in the hole for us, not when we have januzaj, mata and kagawa. The latter two are better than him there and they could actually bring others in to play.

If we had quality wingers who looked to cross the ball with intenet regularly he could do a job there but we'd be so one dimensional and that's been an issue of ours that we need to resolve anyway.

In fairness I saw some called him lazy, he seemed to be tracking back quite a bit but then he wasn't always very committed to actually making a tackle.

Either way hopefully him coming back fully fit next season will help him, I just hope we don't see him off the striker much outside of necessity.

Was decent yesterday, fans still get on his back way too easily which is extremely frustrating. One mistake and it's the end of the world.

Could be down to the fact we've had an awfully shit midfield for quite some time, dating back to Fellaini's Everton days.

Are you serious? I've defended Fellaini quite a bit but he was absolute gash yesterday aside from just a couple moments.

He just lacks every single attribute that could make him useful for a top side in cm - and he's not going to play as a second striker for us, there's a lot of players more suited for that.

The guy lacks drive, always looks lazy on the ball and when he gets frustrated he commits silly challenges. I give him a small amount of credit for assisting the first goal for wilson but the rest of the game his passing was lazy, he couldnt win headers which he should win with his aerial advantage, his tackles were not disciplined and were just typical striker challenges and the one chance for him to actually to put his mark down and he fluffed it and 18 year old Wilson showed him how he should finish. He's not a united player and i wont be surprised if he is sold over the summer.

Aye, it's gone beyond criticism of an underperforming player into outright hatred. Presumably because he epitomises the awful season under Moyes.

Once the narrative is established, people seem to lose the ability to rationally judge a specific performance on it's own merits. A phenomenon that blights discussion on here.

Bit weird seeing him being asked to play so far forward but Fergie has made weirder decisions (Phil Jones as our most advanced midfielder?) and I thought he actually had a decent game. Be nice if he's given a clean slate for the season ahead, under a new manager. Not going to happen though. Which is a shame.

Only at United could you have 3-4 quality AM/SS and still put Fellaini there!

He was awful. Whenever we had a good spell of one-touch play around the box it fell apart with a horrific touch from Fellaini. He was terrible. Basically a 6'4" £27m lump played to add a bit of physical presence behind Wilson.

This thread needs to be renamed "Lets all moan about Marouane Fellaini". Not really surprised by some of the ludicrous comments to be honest. I came here to say that he looked a lot more comfortable in the advanced role and even got an assist which was promising, but it will just fall on deaf ears.

Those decisions were special alright.

Again, some posters showing how much they know about the player on his time at Everton

Where do you think is his best position then?

Even though he missed that strike for Wilson's second I thought the run showed good intelligence. He didn't dart up and make the 2v1 obvious, he made sure to stay just ahead of his man and made the dart right at the right time. Bit of a shame he didn't score himself but I think if he doesn't delay that run then Januzaj doesn't get a chance to play the easy ball inside, his option gets closed up and the 'from the right side' pass from Januzaj who appears to be a lefty would have been a lot more difficult.

Fair play to him - he managed to reach another peak of badness yesterday.

Central midfield. Same position he plays for Belgium.

Do you really believe he has even close to the ability to have any sort of future there with us though or are you taking up your usual devil's advocate role?

Central midfield. Same position he plays for Belgium.

I don't think he has the passing range or the touch for that. I think he plays best as a AM, a bit like last night but deeper. It allows to play with his back to the goal and bring the ball down. As we saw last night he's at his best when he comes running and tackle from behind, he did it a few times.

United need to spunk big money on several players in order to decimate the fee for Fellaini - it's the only way really:D

He was awful yesterday, absolute awful, yet some people had him in their top three motm, which baffles me. How he played in the number ten position ahead of Kagawa only Giggs knows.

All aboard the new scapegoat bandwagon! His confidence looks absolutely shot though, I hope he has a great World Cup.

We should at least be thankful that Wilson wouldn't have got his 2 goals without Fellaini's help. Might not have been pretty but you have to be in the right place at the right time and the end product was 2 of our 3 goals.

I think he'll get another year at least, and since Van Gaal plays a 433 I think Fellaini will do better in a three man midfield, much like he does for Belgium.

I don't think he's all that great but it's hard to write him off after one year, this years been horrible and we would be writing pretty much our whole team off based off of this season.
