I'm just going by what Whoscored.com has listed and it's one assist all competitions, 0 goals. The assist was today. No idea if they are counting assists differently than your source but today I only counted one assist as well, the deflected shot surely doesn't count as an assist, does it?

Depending on the site I guess. Going by wikipedia ( ugh ) it does. I'm taking my statistics from transfermarkt and I do it for every player.

No idea how/if EPL masterminds count them.

CL counted his assist in their official profile so the Shakthar one stands for sure, can't remember who he assisted against Villa.

Made more tackles than any other United player. 95% pass completion and got an assist. He could have had a couple of goals too but seems to be lacking in confidence in front of goal. He has those lazy moments though, where he just gives up, annoying.

Only 5 of his 44 passes were forward. Just saying.

Yeah I think German statistics are a bit more liberal with what counts as assists. We also count as an assist when you get fouled for a penalty and it's converted but I think most English sites don't count stuff like that as assists.

When you play in a more advanced role, its pretty natural that less of your passes are forwards.

I bet De Gea had a very good ratio of forward passes tonight.

Not that I am defending Fellaini tonight as I thought he was crap (although remain hopeful that he will come good)

IIRC I was getting points for assists when that happened in my fantasy premier league.

I'm just pointing out that this 95% ratio doesn't mean anything. It was hurtful to look at him (though fair share of blame is on Giggs).

I think if he'd played where he did today more this season, we might have seen more of the 2012/13 Fellaini and he might have been a useful asset to have on the books.

He's too slow for a centre midfield role in a midfield 2, thought Kagawa looked quality there and someone had the nerve to criticise my 4-3-3 with Mata and Kagawa in midfield? Tut tut, Kagawa can play in a midfield 2 FFS, let alone a 3! ;)

Passing/ tackling statistics mean nothing to be fair. Bayern had more passes then Real but got battered over 2 legs. Stats without context can be misleading. There's a perfect parallel to Fellaini's performance today. Yes he may have 95 % pass completion and the 4 tackles. But Cleverley had an almost exact 94 % pass completion + 4 tackles vs Norwich too. That doesn't really equate to a good performance does it ?

Fellaini was rather poor today. I feel bad for him because he's clearly overawed by being a Uniited player. Same with Young who's good at midtable level but couldn't make the leap in quality. Nothing against them. These are limitations that they can't overcome and it's not their fault. But at the same time in all fairness Fellaini has been a unanimously poor signing and hasn't adjusted even after a full (albeit injury marred) season. He lacks imagination and the technique was a bit off. Granted he played a good battering ram at Everton but chesting, knock downs and percentage football is not the way United plays - we've had some great cultured technicians in the past - from Eric to Sheringham to Wayne to Mata. We've never had a crude second striker/ No. 10 like Marouanne. Pummelling down one lofted ball with his head and botching up a clear goalscoring opportunity doesn't justify the 27 million price tag. Statistically it might be 2 assists but what about his overall gameplay over 90 minutes ?

You lads are being a bit too harsh on him. He's clearly low on confidence and it's showing. Although it seems Giggs shares my view on his position, he's a AM or No.10, not a midfielder and if that's the case then I just don't him making it here since we have much better players in that role, plus he just lacks a great first touch and he loses the ball too often.

Good player but as it stands right now we're the wrong club for him, we won't play a system where we'll getting the best out of him.

Playing him further up the pitch then Kagawa is actually a crime against football. I have no idea what Giggs is thinking.
I think that the Class of '92 put him there to showcase to van Gaal how unsuitable Fellaini is for the style van Gaal prefers. I thought it was rather harsh on Lawrence and Wilson to have to play with him in that position on their debuts, but it worked out for Wilson's two goals.

He was bad. His chest control is class but apart from that......

Disappointed with him tonight, the only player I can say that about too. Had we had Mata in there we would have absolutely trashed them. At times it looked like players refused to play him the ball knowing he had fecked up so many simple touches.

Were you watching a different game today?????:confused::confused:

Kagawa was quite poor today and Fellaini, despite his assists, was shocking. His ability to hold the ball is one of his key traits yet he struggled today, and has for most of this season, to keep it at his feet for longer than a few seconds. I've said it before, I normally defend Fellaini but he was very poor today. No where near United quality if this is meant to be his best position. We have far to many superior players in attacking positions to ever let Fellaini play in that position again.

What Giggs was trying to do was quite fair, actually. By playing him behind the striker he allowed him the opportunity to get on the score sheet and build some confidence. It didn't work, he didn't play well either, but I don't really like him in that role anyway. On to next season.

Fellaini was poor, I said if he had played there more during the season that maybe we might have seen more of the Everton Fellaini here.

Kagawa was poor? I thought he had a couple of off moments when he worked the ball further forward, but thought he looked very good alongside Carrick when he was in midfield, always moving to places where he could recieve the ball (rather than passing it backwards then running to find a defender to hide next to). Maybe I was just watching him through Shinji tinted glasses though because I like him too much.

I want to see what Fellaini does at the world cup, and think he should definately get another chance with us next season.

Fellaini looked poor, up front. Often, he didn't make himself available for the ball, and whenever he got the ball in dangerous areas, he ruined our attack in the final third many times. I understand why Giggs played him up high, but he didn't make things any easier for our young players (sure, Wilson got 2 goals out of Fellaini, but other than that, what could Wilson do?).

It's clear this isn't the club for him. The number of times Trevor Francis was talking about how we should cross to Fellaini more often sickened me. It's obvious he isn't the best at the pass-and-move game and is better as a physical nuisance than anything else.

If he's surrounded footballers who make up for his weaknesses (like at Belgium) he can be useful. However, over here, more is expected of him, and the way we were trying to play a more pass-and-move game meant that Fellaini up high wasn't going to be of much use to us.

Aye, it seemed to me that Giggs wanted to give him every chance to do well. He just seems completely overawed by being a Manchester United player as well as having big gaps in his skill-set. It reminds me a bit of Hargreaves' limitations at CM when he joined us x 1,000, except that its hard to see where he can play a worthwhile squad role for us.

It's four assists in all comps.

Villa, Shakthar ( for Danny's goal ) and today two.

Are you really going to dumb down his statistics now ( which is whole four assists ) ?

Source? Squaka, ESPN and whoscored have him on 2 assists...against Shakhtar and today

He is not. No idea where he got his stats from Fellaini has 0 goals and 1 assist.

His supporters will make shit up to protect their man. Can't question their loyalty. 2 assists this season in all comps

All season he's played like a coward, which shows with quite a disappointing record this season with 0 goals 2 assists. (1 in the league)

I still feel he'll get a chance under Van Gaal, but if he doesn't take it then we'll probably wave goodbye to him.

Living up to that tag of looking like some bloke who won a competition to get a run out with Manchester United.

Shocking 'footballer'.

United simply have no use for him unless Van Gaal wants a battering ram next year. There are way more talented players in the squad for him to be used a 2nd striker, and he is not a defensive midfielder no matter what people say. He can't get near a player without fouling them. If he has confidence issues that last a whole season, then he needs to spend some of that wage he is earning to see a shrink.

Hoping he has a blinder in the World cup and we can fool some team to spend around 15-20 million on him. We lose money on transfer fee, but we gain a place in the squad and save on the wages.

I don't think you can really say that. Meaningless match and he's just giving everyone a game.

I know I exagerated and I have no pb with giving everyone a game because since he took over all we had was a series of friendlies. Just seeing Fellaini and Kagawa in those positions hurt my eyes.

It's embarassing to say he assisted Wilson for the second goal. This is the proof that stats can be stupid at times. Pointless in this instance. Will it honestly be included in the stats as an assist ?

I've never seen anyone play football as bad as this man.

What the holy mother of jesus is he doing on a football field, let alone our football field.

He runs, tackles, passes and shoots like the Honeymonster.

Please can he go away now. It's embarrassing.
