Yes, but unlike Everton, we have shown no interest to use his height or strength. We're playing it short and along the floor, replying on quick passing and movement around the box. Its like asking Kagawa to play as the holding mid just because he can play in midfield. We've done that too this game :wenger:

Nor should we be. I can only think that Giggs does not rate him in CM at all.

If Fellaini isnt rated as a CM, he shouldnt be in the squad. This bollocks about playing him as the AM in such an ill suited system is just bizarre.

We seem to have shunted RVP out onto the wing to accommodate Fellaini as the furthest player forward in a central role.

Like absolutely everything that's involved Marrouane Fellaini this season, I can't even begin to grasp what's going on. It's stunningly ridiculous.

Imagine if Giggs was the coach all season long, some potential to be a lot worse than Moyes there.

Can someone revoke my right to give an opinion on a potential transfer ever again? I thought he'd be a good signing (not at that price obviously) but god was I wrong. He looks so far out of his depth that I feel sorry for him - and that's hard considering he just kicks people and then gets offended when pulled up on it.

I agree with the majority on here

take a hit on him - get 15 million plus and I'd be happy - 15 million would have bought Ericksson or Strootman with plenty of change

best thing Rodgers did at Liverpool was get shot of Carroll and Downing as soon as he could

He should never play as AM for Manchester United.

Play him as a pure defensive mid or sell him.
His inability to play there is kind of the reason we play him further up the pitch. He hasnt got the positional play or intelligence to play as a DMF. Whenever he does he tends not to track his man and seems intent on fouling players in dangerous positions. Playing him further forward means we dont have to worry about him in the defensive sense. I also think Giggs wants to give everyone in the squad a game in the 4 hes had and that was the only position he trusted Fellaini to play!

When anyone ever tells me Moyes was sacked too early without bringing in his own players i point solely to Fellaini as to why we wouldnt trust that man with £200m. If we can somehow get £15m for Fellaini i would snap their hand off - a terrible terrible dirty player

feck me, I thought he was bad earlier in the season, but he just gets worse and worse

Absolute abortion of a footballer. It's like watching a fan, who's won a prize to play at OT with the first team, run around for 90 minutes chasing shadows.

Nah. RvP's just doing a Henry and getting involved.
Fellaini seemed to injure himself a bit the moment before Giggs came on which made him even less mobile.

I feel sorry for him (yes, yes, I know he's a footballer and therefore undeserving of sympathy) because he's out of his depth and he looks like he knows it. It'd be best for everyone if he was moved on.

I actually supported him when he came here and didn't look good in his first games and thought it was down to lack of confidence and getting used to the new club and all but he is just plain shit, let's be honest about it.

His first touch is comically bad, he can't pass for shit and is slow. If we want to build a team that can play some good, fast attacking football that's not the kind of player you want to have in your squad.

We also got robbed paying 27M for him.

I don't watch him day in day out at training, but his body language suggests that he has no idea what to do when he's got the ball. So most of the time he sticks to one-twos and pray his teammate actually trusts him enough to give him back the ball (they usually don't).

His first assist was nice, but it was a typical Fellaini header, where he bullies the opposition defender to bring the ball down and into the box. He's not a 'destroyer'. He very rarely makes interceptions and his tackling isn't very great, he doesn't win the ball back enough and gets booked all the time for the stupidest fouls. But the worst aspect is his body language and lack of confidence. It's as if he knows he is out of depth and is struggling to play his game in our system.

Made more tackles than any other United player. 95% pass completion and got an assist. He could have had a couple of goals too but seems to be lacking in confidence in front of goal. He has those lazy moments though, where he just gives up, annoying.

His position indiscipline has been in games where we've played him as a box-to-box midfielder (i.e., every time we get the ball he charges from deep to go and stand in the box awaiting a cross). He looks completely lost in that role and doesn't have the stamina or pace to play it effectively. I can't recall us playing him as a proper DM at all.

With some fine tuning he could potentially be a decent/squadworthy DM. No amount of work will ever make him a decent CM or AM in a team like United, so any attempts to play him there are a complete waste of time. He's the last player on our team I'd want to be on the ball in and around the opposition penalty box, and I include Vidic and De Gea in that. The only role he should play is to shield the defence and play a simple passing game. When he wasn't an auxiliary striker at Everton he performed that role quite well.

Yeap. Good summary. He wasn't as diabolical as people say. But he seems to feck up every attacking move, thanks to his laziness and casual style.

Can't believe how crap he is at playing football. Good at heading, great at chesting, just when the ball is in his feet, my oh my...

Didnt he play there against City away? And didnt track the runners from midfield which cost us 2 goals.

I think you are right he does tend to play as a box to box midfielder but with his touch, lack of goal threat from anything apart from headers, lack of dribbling and inability to find team mates i dont think it summates to a player who should even make a United squad. Hes also a dirty player i dont like seeing at United

The worst signing i have ever seen. shocking technique, absolutely shocking.

He's been responsible for numerous goals this season, big goals as well.

I didn't think he was bad tonight, clearly shouldn't be anywhere near the first team though. That goal cloud needs to be broken before it becomes a curse.

He literally was playing for the opposition.

Blocked shots, missed 2 great chances and when we had the ball in the final third-he lost the ball.

Ive been supportive, understanding and neutral all season … but after tonight, there is simply no way to deny the glaring truth: He is not of the quality that Manchester United requires from a key midfield player.

His positioning, ball control, passing and finsnihing was terrible. I dont know if thats because of a lack of capability or if its confidence, but he does not have it.

I don't blame him, its not his fault SAF chose Moyes as our manager and so he joined as as a result.

Its in his best interest, and ours, that we take the financial hit and sell him this summer.

As far as I recall it's always been Carrick as the DM with Fellaini pushing on, although I can't remember the City (or have repressed the memory anyhow!)

Don't get me wrong I don't have high hopes for him, but I would be interested to see how he does next season if he is used solely as a backup to Carrick or a player like Carvalho.

God I fecking hope everybody plays for the opposition like this.

This thread turned into cringeworthy piece of shit long time ago but today you'd think he bombared some country.

Would be hard for him if he was sold but you couldn't really argue against it. I just don't see where he would fit in and play good football

I said it before, he's worse then the likes of Kleberson and the Djemba twins, and I stand by that.

Tonight was like watching a car crash.

I'm currently indifferent to Fellaini because the by and large of it, is of our current squad he has the 3rd highest goals and assists behind Rooney and RVP totaling at 16, which is no mean feat even for an advanced midfielder. However, he has been so wasteful all season! He wants too much time on the ball and I think he's still not fully come to terms with playing for United. If he doesn't improve next season I think we'll ship him out.
