Fellaini was half-expected to fail, so in that sense he isn't considered a flop.

That doesn't make sense tbh. Did United half expect him to fail when they paid 27M for him? He's a flop anyway you look at it.

Moyes didn't, obviously, but he was very isolated in that belief. Three-quarters of this board didn't want him in the first place and felt confident he'd prove to be a failure.

So he still flopped, it simply means the people who didn't have faith in his signing have been vindicated. He has done what they expected him to do, flop!

He was a 27m security-blanket bought in a moment of weakness - in a long streak of moments of weakness.

To Moyes' "credit" the Fellaini-Baines stuff reeked heavily of him trying to do the "nice" thing and bring favored players along to the "big" club in a "If I get to the top, I won't forget you," type deal, and no doubt the rest of the executive world saw it as such and with contempt.

I wonder if he will even see the bench under Giggs.

I still think he can play a role in the squad next season. Moyes going will help him. He might have a limited skillset but a lot of what he does could be useful in certain games next season.

Not really.

Cleverley has been bad this year in almost every game. Giggs gave him a shot against Norwich and again he did nothing. Why should he still be ahead of Fellaini?

Because I don't subscribe to the Caf consensus that Cleverley is shit all on a sudden. Fellaini on the other hand doesn't suit us in any way. Hopefully he will be flailing his elbows 'til his hearts content in Newcastle or West Ham's midfield soon.

Say what you like about Fellaini and the inflated fee. He should be walking into our midfield without question.

Agree. I dont see how anyone can say he is worse than what we have. At least he can perform against the mediocre sides.

We could've used him today, seeing we needed size in the middle. But he is still residue from a failed managerial tenure and simply not good enough against the better clubs.

That's a damning indictment of how bad things are.

They're equally shit but even the stats show that Cleverley has created 10 chances to Fellaini's 3 and he even has a higher percentage of duels won

duels, wtf is this, Gladiators:lol:

Haha maybe Fellaini would be good at that. No, duels on the pitch, aerial and other wise. Fellaini wins less of them than Cleverley, according to sqaukwa stats and whoscored

I think Cleverley has been very poor, he has so much potential but he has just not developed.

Every time the words Cleverley and potential are brought up I seriously scratch my head.

Forever struggling to see what he could possibly have to suggest he has 'so much potential'. Average technique, average physically, less than average mentally...

What a miserable season we've had. Giggs has been our best midfielder without even playing much at all. His performance against Olympiakos when we won 3-0 at OT is the best any midfielder in the team has shown

He's atrocious, people just forget how bad he is because he's not currently playing. It's Anderson syndrome.

If Giggs is foolish enough to pick him again this season he'll remind you how useless he is and everyone will want rid again.

Well the bar is set pretty low after Carrick and Flethcer's performance. I don't think he could be that bad.

I like to call it Hargreaves-itus. That lad became the best defensive midfielder the world had ever seen during his years of injuries.

Don't see him fitting into van gaal's system, his range of passing, mobility and positioning just aren't suited to how we will set up next season. If we get any decent offers and are successful in bringing in new midfielders I think he will go this summer. He was effective at Everton because he was the focal point of the team and they played to his strengths which is something we will never do.

No idea why moyes didn't target McCarthy, cabaye, matic, thiago or strootman instead especially when none of them would have cost anything like as much money.

Thats the million quid question, Thiago was pretty much coming to us and Strootman would of been great and it would of cost around 35 million for the both.

Of all the mistakes moyes made not buying those 2 players instead of fellaini was his biggest one and if he had signed those 2 or even cabaye and McCarthy I think he might have kept his job. We just didn't/don't need fellaini, last thing we needed was another cm who lacks mobility and can't really pass the ball more than ten metres with any confidence.

Get rid. I can't stand watching him in a United shirt. We're even standing all our crosses up deliberately today to give him something to feed off!

How the frak you don't bid for Barkley but instead reinforce midfield with this... thing.

We can't even convert him to defender because of his foul rate... perhaps Van Gaal will make miracles.
