I'm slightly intrigued to see what a top manager could get out of him, but I think it'll be another frustrating season for him and then we'll sell him to West Ham.

I remember when there were loads of fans on here wanting Fellaini when he was doing a decent job at Everton. Now nobody here wants him

I thought he was an effective player at Everton but they used him as a number 10 target man, like Any good number 10 he played in a position where the centre halves and the midfielders didn't know who should pick him up but it was his physical presence that caused problems rather than his speed or technical ability. He could bully the midfielders or you had to commit a centre half further to deal with him and get dragged out of position, in that role he is a really good player but you need to play long balls up to him for it to work so he can use his height and chest control.

I don't see us ever playing him in that role and for that reason he was a pointless signing for the amount of money we paid, he isn't a great tackler, not very Mobile and rarely passes the ball more than 10 yards so as a midfielder he is very ordinary and that is why we should sell him as soon as we receive a decent offer, for the right team he would be a good signing.

I have less faith in Fellaini than in Moyes. I think we should sell him at once. This is used as the symbol for Moyes time at United in the media world wide as we speak.

If the reason other players were so poor was Moyes then shouldn't that also apply to Fellaini?

He deserves another chance next season, he does well enough for Belgium and I'm sure he'll be a decent squad player. No chance he ain't here for the forseable

The only thing that really gets me about that much-maligned Fellaini dribble in the fact that we don't even get the throw-in at the end.

At the time I thought fair play to him relieving the pressure on the defence without hoofing it straight back to them (which is what we'd been doing for half the match) but once their man had slid in I'm not sure what possessed Fellaini to do likewise and give them the throw-in.

Because he's shit

Hth

I think the new manager will use him as a defender. Like Pep did with Martinez.

Now i'm not saying it will work tho, but he is a waste of space on the midfield.

Best used as little as possible until he's sold, the more he's played the lower his £ value becomes.

Never stopped amusing me that De Gae was booting the ball up the pitch but never to Felliani.

I think he has what it takes to be atleast decent for us. He evidently lacks confidence right now and Moyes being under pressure and not being confident himself has not helped. I think a tactically strong manager might make good use of him. Yes he needs to improve certain aspects of his game like some vicious fouling with elbows and stuff. But I think he is good enough to take a gamble on. Of course everything depends on the style of the new manager.

He might be another causality from the Moyes reign, but you can't expect the incoming manager just to work with the previous managers players.

Sacking managers is expensive in more ways that one. So I hope the next appointment is the correct one! and they are given longer than 10 months in charge.

Otherwise the team will be disjointed with players brought by different managers with different styles of play.

Should never have been signed, panic buy when all other options fell through and showed how far off the mark Moyes was when judging a Manchester United player. Maybe a top class manager can find a use for him though, shouldn't instantly follow Moyes out the door.

Lets see how much the new manager will rate him. I suppose that on scale from 1 to 10, the new manager would give a 0 to him.

Hard to say what will happen with him. I always thought he could only really be a squad player and at the right price would have been a good one but we massively overpaid. I don't think he necessarily has to go though. The money is spent now and he can be a useful player. In some ways Moyes going might be good for him, being Moyes's player he undoubtedly took extra heat and so a fresh set up might be good for him. I think this is an example of giving someone a proper chance. He was injured most the season and joined late. May as well give him another season. At the very least we might be able to get his value up a little even if we do make a pretty big loss. That said if a manager/coaches who know your game inside out can't get you playing well then it doesn't bode well.

Not sure how we use him apart from pushing him forward (which is a non-starter in terms of playing style). He lacks mobility to play in the middle (to say nothing of passing range, tackling skills etc). Like Rodgers with Carroll, I think the new manager just needs to cut our losses.

I agree. I really wanted him to succeed here, but I can't see it happening. The next manager has to be totally ruthless with cases like him. If the new man comes in and pussyfoots around, then we'll just continue to accumulate dead weight like Fellaini.

I came in here to use Carroll as an example, we need to get in someone who isn't afraid to be ruthless and just cut our losses. I don't think Fellaini has what it takes to do very well in any sort of style that we should be looking to implement. It would take a radical step up from him, and if we do end up getting van Gaal I think his days here are almost certainly numbered.

Hopefully a good world cup will put him in the shop window although I'm not sure anyone would go near the wages we gave him.

Just doesn't have the skill set unfortunately, I bet Mourinho would love him as an impact sub in a game they're defending for their lives and lumping the ball clear though.

I know it's different, but he performs well in a 4-3-3 for Belgium. If we do end up getting Van Gaal, he likes to go with a 3-man midfield so hopefully this would suit Fellaini.

It's harsh on him because he looks like he really is trying and just never gets it right. I would probably warm to him a bit more if he didn't foul everything he touched.

We should cut our losses as he wont work unless used as a target.

He's one of the only players I know of who can consistently foul players whilst in possession of the ball.

I'd like to always give our newer players a fair chance. But we know what type of player Fellaini is. That's fairly set in stone now and he's not gonna drastically change his style of play and develop the qualities we aspire to in midfield.

The new manager coming in will be well aware of the football the club demands. If he doesn't fit that vision then it's best to just cut our losses and buy/utilise the players who do.

I never wanted him from the get

I think it's wildly exxagerated how many 'wanted' him. A-few acknowledged that he gave our defenders a torrid time and done a good job for Everton. But in the overall context of things, I didn't come across many who wanted him here and his signing was met with an underwhelming and negative reaction by the majority.

Well it was his first season under a coach who made the champions linger at 7th, he will get another chance to shine with his limited abilities under a better coach. He also suffered quite a bit from injuries and played out of position.

Gets me every time...

Arsenal are said to be lining up a move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to rebuild his squad to ensure that they don’t fall short of yet another title challenge.

The Belgian international followed David Moyes to the club from Everton last summer in a £27.5m deal, but he has struggled to live up to that price tag as both injuries and a loss of form have prevented him from performing in a United shirt.

But with David Moyes now gone, and the club keen to overhaul their squad, with up to 12 players being shown the exit door this summer Fellaini’s position at the club is no longer certain.

And CaughtOffside understands that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is now plotting a return for the 26-year-old as he looks to beef up his midfield options ahead of next season.

Wenger has persistently been left unhappy with the form of several of his midfield stars this term, namely Mikel Arteta, who the Frenchman may look to move on in the near future.

Wenger had been keen on Fellaini last summer, but conceded defeat early on after it was announced that David Moyes would be heading to Old Trafford and would be taking the midfielder with him.

However, after just 24 appearances in all competitions this season, the Red Devils are hoping to recoup as much of the original outlay for him and are open to negotiating over sensible offers.

Upon hearing this Wenger is prepared to put an £18m offer on the table as he feels that is Fellaini’s true valuation, even after a difficult campaign

Please please let it be true

Lol Wenger.

Fellaini has more or less become the bastard child of the squad. He's our nasty reminder of Moyes's time at the club. A Jon Snow to our Cat Stark if you will.

He knows nothing.

Fellani was knighted against all recommendations by 'The Dour King Moyes'. Now that the Kings court have seemingly sabotaged The Dour Kings reign and subjected him to a public flogging; will the incumbent 'Mad King Van Gaal' strip Fellani of his honours once he sits on the Iron Throne?

unfortunately, isn't caughtoffside often full of shit?
